nook hd for 80 at officemax - Nook HD, HD+ General

Yes - seems that OM have the pricing wrong. So if one forego the gift card, one end up paying a net of $79. No need to deal with spending the OM gift card.

I just picked up two Nook HD+ 16 gig for $100 each, no gift card involved at
the Utica Park Place OM in Mich. As soon as they are done charging they are
getting modded. Sweet deal! Thanks!

Yep.. I got mine today.. $79 - $20 (instant rebate for trading in 20 ink catridges- test market)
Making it $59, plus I made some money at staples to even it out to $0

Mine wasn't using a gift card... it rang up at 79.99 and they couldnt get the gift card to work, so I told them that I would just take it without.
What is supposed to happen is 79.99 + 50 gift card... then you get the gift card back!!!

I picked up an HD+ 16gig today for $99 in Warren, MI.

At officemax?

Is this a clearance price which varies by location or is it valid nationwide?
Thanks.
Edit:
Never mind; checked the deals and realized what OP has posted. Damn, I just purchased one 3 weeks ago and got my wife another one last Saturday.

Confirmed
Picked one up for a friend yesterday (I already have 2 Nexus (Nexi??) 7's). I didn't even have to mention the gift card, the system automatically rang up for $79.99, took some of the awkwardness out of the transaction.

It would seem not all cashiers are trained alike. When I got rang up yesterday (was able to get them to ship one in from out of state!), try as I might, I could not talk the cashier out of removing the stupid gift card. Tax even calculated on the discounted price, and they charged me for the gift card outright. Since the gift card is on a separate line, though, I am going to try and take it back at a different store, after I get my tablet.

Picked up an HD+ at the Loveland, CO store yesterday. It rang up as $99 -- no gift card issued or needed.

I am surprised that there is no store in San Diego, CA

I called my local Office max. They said the price was $99 but they didnt have any in stock.
The next store is 40 miles away.

i picked up three here in Phoenix. had to call around to multiple stores to find them, but got them for only $99 each. looks like the last three in town.

I visited the nearest Office Max and they had announced the nook hd for $129 and a free gift card of $50 with e purchase, they had the nook hd+ full price, but I asked one of the sellers and he verified and indeed it was $99 for the one with 16GB and $129 for the one with 32GB but he also told me there wasn't any gift card involved.

this was a nationwide officemax clearance sale on nooks. barnes & noble shut down the manufacturing of nook HD & HD+ in late june. B&N's CEO resigned a few days ago after the nook division revealed huge financial loss for the last quarter. he had come up from B&N's website division, and his mission as CEO was to achieve viability for the company as a seller of digital books. they are abandoning their higher end tablets now. no more B&N color tablets, although the black & white nook e-ink tablets seem to have avoided the axe. there's some talk about B&N possibly leasing the nook brand out to other manufacturers of color tablets, but it sounds kind of vaporware-ish to me until somebody actually announces such a product. this situation doesn't bode well for the future of the company at all.
officemax offered the 50 dollar gift card "with purchase of any nook HD or HD+" in their weekly ads and then apparently adjusted the cash register price down by 50 dollars (intended to eliminate the need for the gift card?). but there was enough confusion in the officemax stores about the ad ("is the customer entitled to the gift card or not, even after the 50 dollar discount that's showing on the cash register screen?") that a few people may have been able to walk away with a nook HD for as little as $30 or $50 if the stories told on fatwallet are to be believed. anybody who managed to swing that deal really hit the jackpot.
i visited a couple of nearby officemax stores and the employees seemed to have no clue about any of this. neither of the stores had any nook HDs in stock though. saleswoman at one store offered to look it up (she verified that the 8GB nook HD was currently priced at $80 dollars) and she sounded fully prepared to place an order for it on my behalf AND give me the gift card without any objections after i showed her the page i printed from the weekly ad. but alas the online inventory system would not accept any orders for nook HDs.
even without taking advantage of the officemax employees' confusion, $80-$100 is still a price that's hard to resist for a tablet like this, especially for ROM users like the people of the XDA forum. other retailers will probably follow suit very soon and clear out their nook HD & HD+ for about $100 (give or take a few dollars), but i doubt there will be any more mistakes like the "$50 discount + $50 gift card?" thing that a few customers benefitted from.

Sorry about resurrecting this thread , but could anyone that bought it for 80 show me the receipt or anything like that? Thanks!

Best Buy. Long story but they really wanted me to buy a tablet there. Employees came from all around with discounts for me at check out. There was an actual line of employees with printed skews in their hands, each one adding a new discount. I was still in disbelief when I got home. Like I said, Just for fun I might stop by and have a go. I'm sure they need some kind of entertainment around there.
Oh yeah, the funny part was when the all got through with their discounts another guy walked up typed something in, while another dropped his jaw and said, "Did you just give him a $100 off without a managers aproval, how did you do that?" He just smiled and walked away. Everyone gets luck once in a while.
Will bb reimburse 100 to price match if you already purchased and are within 14 day return period?

Best buy said they dont price match coupons.
Thank you so much for this post, I just got back from Staples with a 16gb Tab. The tech guy in the store said they got 3 of them in yesterday and 1 person bought one late last night and the 2nd one was purchased 5 minutes before me and I got the last one. While he and I were talking 2 more people walked up asking for them and were told they were sold out. He said each store only got 2 or 3 of them.
They did have the Xoom, Playbook and Iconia in stock. The Iconia was quite tempting for $299!!! I also wouldn't have minded getting a Xoom for $399 to goof off with. This new Tab is for my son as I already have one myself. I wish they had the 32gb versions in the store but they said that model is only available online. Staples is also running a special for 15% off any tablet accessories when purchasing a tablet but they no Tab accessories in stock yet. The guy said they haven't received their end cap for the Tab which usually comes with the accessories shipment. He said he would honor the 15% offer once they receive their accessories so I'm going to check back periodically. Checking stock on their website shows other stores in the area have Tabs as well but the guy said it can take up to 24 hours for the online stock checker to update so with the rush of buyers looking for them with the coupon deal I suspect they'll all be gone very quickly. FYI, they are selling the metallic gray version (not the white). The website doesn't give any indication of color...

Depending on your tax, I got mine for $430 after tax and coupon.

Tried a few Staples in DC metro area. Some don't have any. One store that do have in stock can't make the coupon work. Finally found one store that the manager knows about the coupon and offered to order one for me from Kiosk and pay at the register to use the coupon w/o any problem. I'll pick the tab up this Firday. $420 with tax.
Well, I was on a fence because of luck of Netflix. But now Netflix is sorted out and I've got 16Gb for 400 bucks plus tax from staples.
Got mine from staples 424.99 16gb when to four stores and the last store had 3 left also most stores don't have them on display
I picked up my Galaxy 10.1 at Staples today. I noticed that they didn't have any on display, but there were Xooms, Acers, Blackberries, etc. When I asked them why, they said that yesterday somebody tried to walk off with the display model, so they took it off display. Seems to me that he could have tried to walk off with any of them, so why remove just one?
Anyway, another guy said they had gotten their shipment in on Sunday (3 days ago), and I was the first to buy one. He said the store is getting many returns on tablets, because people buy them thinking they are laptops -- minus the keyboards. I assured him that I was familiar with the android system, owning a rooted Nook.
I am happy with the Samsung so far, but Honeycomb is a little bigger learning curve over Android 2.3. But my buddy at work has a Xoom, so I'll be picking his brain over the next couple of weeks.

$100 off Any Tablet at Staples (Including TF | In store only)

great deal. thanks
Has anybody used this coupon to buy a TF at Staples lately? For only $300?? Do they still have them in stock?

seems in my area the Transformer is only available online, not at retail stores, still gona have to go in and take a peek, $100USD off worth a little leg work since coupon looks like its only good for "in store" sales, not online.
What a scam! The Staples near me said Transformer is online only and not sold in stores.
Supposedly you have to go into the Store, use a Kiosk, and say "Pay Here" (at the store). They ring you out IN the store where you can use the coupon.
You can't order it online for the coupon.
Problem is when I go to staples.com they are sold out and have been sold out of the 16GB model.
I don't think I'll be able to order it at an online kiosk in stores either. I think the best bet is to try to price match at Walmart or OfficeDepot.
All 15+ Walmarts in my area are out of stock too though unfortunately. I wonder if it's possible to do an online purchase in store and apply a price match.

What your local Staples have said is true and not a scam. It is only available online to buy. I know this because I bought one last week from Staples (ordered from kiosk from online, paid in-store, delivered to house).

Also got mine from Office Depot as they honored the coupon.
However, slickdeal users have been noting that a memo has been issues to managers that they shouldn't be honoring the coupon anymore unless you can provide a staples store that has the item in stock as well in the local area.
I also got mine at Office Depot. They also had one dock in stock but not sure if I want the dock yet. After taxes it was like 322 which is a steal IMO.

B1ackplague,
I owe you. I already have a 32GB TF with dock bought from TigerDirect but I just bought a Xoom at Best Buy 9 days ago when the price dropped to $499.00. I took your coupon into Best Buy and asked them if they could do anything for me on this recent Xoom purchase and they handed me $106.65 in cash. My Xoom cost me $399.99! Awesome! Like I said, I owe you for bringing attention to this deal in our forum! Thanks!
Nice! Just picked up the 32gb from Office Depot. Thanks for the coupon.

I price matched the Staples $100 at Office Depot and it worked. They had to call Staples to confirm the coupon was valid and then they had to get a district manager to approve it.
They did not have the TF so I pick up the galaxy tab 10.1 for 424.99 thanks for the coupon

best buy question

So i just returned my TF201 to best buy (so many issues )
and theyve stuck me with a 500$ best buy gift card and im looking to buy the N7 tablet and best buy doesnt have it yet:good:
So now im wondering what is my best option, wait it out for best buy to possibly never get the n7 in the US, or sell the gift card on ebay for a slightly lower price and buy the n7 from google, or some other option i dont even know about.
please and thanks for the help.

You could try calling their corporate customer service number and see if they plan to get it. I wouldn't sell the card on eBay. Not only would you lose money on reducing the price, but their fees have gotten stupid (just sold a phone for $150 and was charged a $15 fee). Maybe try Craigslist. Then you at least get cash in hand. If you lived in MN I would buy your card. I shop at Best Buy often anyway. LOL
Anyway...that's my advice.

Nexus 7 20% Off Office Max

20% off coupon
This is Office Max in-store coupon for 20% off; it includes tablets and eReaders. Of course, Office Max may not be near everyone, but you can try price matching with Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy in-store.
If in-store doesn't work, you can always try through phone order or online chat. I got the 32gb one for $215+tax through Office Depot chat online (rep didn't let me get the 16gb since Office Max website doesn't show the 16gb one).

Going to try in a little bit. Will report back but I see no reason why this doesn't work/ Also, living in Florida, computer products are tax free this week for back to school. Other people I have come across have reported that tablets fall under this category, which makes sense.
Damn, nearest office max is 40miles away. Had one been closer I would have bought anew 32gb and return my staples 16gb -$30 coupon.

Very nice! I wished it was tax free in CA. I also bought OM protection plan for 2 years. Anyone have experiences with OMs protection plan? Debating if I should cancel it. The girl that worked there said I can return the tablet in any condition within 2 years and either get it replaced or refunded full amount with a gift card. Sounds too good to be true.

$54 off is amazing. I would jump on it before OM decides to exclude certain devices or cancels the coupon. I paid full price at Amazon the first day it went on sale (Friday). Paid $300 for Saturday delivery. Returning it and buying locally would be lucrative. I wonder if Amazon will price match if I call them. Tell them I'm within my 30 days and I can save $54 if I go through the hassle.
Hmmm.
I sent them an Email saying that I am within my return policy and would like to see if they would Price Match the coupon. I linked the coupon and the a image of the scanned receipt. We shall see.

Got mine from BB last week and used a GC for part of the purchase, called them up and they said they do not price match post sale.
But are you saying if they did give a refund from a price match after sale....and you used a gift card for part or all of the purchase.....you only get $10 back?
I also thought the salesman at BB told me when I was completing the sale, said "You can not return for refund, you can only return for exchange."
Of course it sort of went in one ear and out the other as I thought to myself....why would I think of returning for a full refund.

Yes, I had a $50 GC so it knocked it down from ~$300 to like $247.

Possible Costco promo

Today, I included Costco in my 'Might you have it early?' stalker calls. (So. Ca)
The guy told me no, but said their price would include a $25 card, a car charger and the dock.
Is there any practical or contractual difference between a Costco or TMo transaction?

Costco doesn't carry tmobile phones in my area.... are you sure on this?
Costco carries T-Mobile in Phoenix, but they couldn't seem to access my business account last time I tried.
when i switched from verizon to tmobile i did it through costco and they paid my etf along with other goodies that costco normally throws in (at the time it was a case, car charger and bluetooth) for each of the four phones.

I live literally half a mile from a Costco. Don't you have to be a member to get in?

yes, you need a membership in order to purchase through costco. My wife said if you know somebody with a membership that they can purchase it for you as well (she did that for a friend)

Bought an iphone 6 there, they provide that promo with all costco phone purchases (they don't charge tax either which is another $65 savings!). The $25 costco gift card is a mail in gift card that takes 6-8 weeks. It does have to be tied to a line and be paid through EIP though. You cannot buy it outright (but you can pay it off after the EIP is added to your plan) or without activating it in the store.
I've called Costcos in both Corona and Rancho Cucamonga within the last hour.
Both told me they don't physically have any in the store... but that they expect to by 10am.
.....but to call just in case.
These are kiosk vendors so who knows...
2 different Tmo stores told me they have received their N4 stock but it was a very small delivery and recommended I get there at 9 based on the number of previous inquiries like mine.
I'm bringing my taser... jic.
If I don't have a Costco membership can I use a friends? Not sure how much they are. Would be nice if the 25 gift card could go to that. What is Costco's return policy? I was thinking trying the Note 4 then if I like the Nexus 6 more I might return the Note 4.
Bought mine yesterday at around 3pm at the Costco in Fontana. They had 1 left after I bought mine.
Came with a car charger and a phone holder. I don't think the holder will work with the note 4, seems too small.
Also will get a $25 gift card in a month or two.
Well I work at Costco in Burnsville, MN. We got 5 in and only sold 2 yesterday. The holder does work
I stopped by cosco only to be told I need a cosco card....lol
