[Q]Sony Walkman - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Can anyone port the Sony Walkman music player with all its features to the GS4?

You mean this one? There was an app, during the brief time I had an iPhone 4s, that was a mp3 player but it looked exactly like a cassette tape. You could change the stickers on it. The tag information was written on the label and the font could changed. It was a paid only app and I forgot the name of it, but it was very cool and nostalgic. The wheels moved and the tape window changed levels as your playlist progressed. I wonder if there's something like that for android... I think I found it. It might be the same app as iPhone version but I think it looked better on the 4s than android. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.umbrellasoftware.android.delitape

I don't care for the screenshot of a phone. I wish you could just save it to device instead of texting it to yourself then saving the attachment.

Ten characters

I guess you could just do the phone's screen shot and not have the built in phone graphic of the program.

This is the Sony Walkman app ported from the Sony Xperia Z to work on all ICS and JB devices. Flash in recovery.

PlayerPro now with Dolby/SRS support!

Hi guys. Since I bought my DHD I was looking for a better Music player - the stock one was ok but i missed some stuff coming from an ipod touch. Then I found this one: PlayerPro, and its even better than an ipod
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.tbig.playerpro&feature=search_result
The only thing lacking was SRS/Dolby support so i went on their forums and asked for it. And shortly after that the Dev emailed me and said he was working on it^^ Never happened to me before He's a really nice guy. Anyway so I helped him with betatesting and now this Player has full SRS/Dolby support on the DHD!
And a ton of other features too! Volume buttons for Track next/prev support, Headset controls, load covers from the net, different views, full playlist support and and and and. Even a pretty good video player is on board
I know this sounds like an advertisement and the player costs a little something but i just want to inform. No financial interest.
cheers!
Hehe PowerAmp is good I also like the stock player! I'll download the trial for this program xD
Yeah, playerpro has been my player of choice for ages now. I have tried a few, inclusive poweramp and in my opinion it leaves all others light years away.

PlayerPro is also my player of choice! Great app with lots of potential and nice design
The funny thing is: I came from stock (with Dolby) to PlayerPro on Froyo because of the equalizer plugin which was way better than the PowerAMP one. Then I was going nuts because O2 Germany didn´t release the gingerbread update (build in and powersafing equalizer) - so I made a goldcard and flashed ARHD. (it was definitly worth it!) And now after happily using ARHD + PlayerPro + build in equalizer, SRS is back I´m realy happy, because this enhances my daily music hours even more!
Thank you for asking and helping the dev
I love the player, it's much better then the stock but I only have one complain, that's lack of good integration of music control in the lock screen.

PlayerPro is the best one XD
I hope they'll integrate google music in it when google publish API for it XD

Been using PlayerPro since my HTC Desire. Its great, thanks for the update on the extra sound enhancement, have been using Muiu Music Player since using Miui based ROM for the past few weeks. IMO, PlayerPro has the best album information and album art organisational system, very simple to use...the best part is the super smooth scrolling of the album art...got to get back onto it! =D

[Q] SE Live With Walkman Stock ROM for the X8

Hey guys, is it possible to have the new Sony Ericsson Live With Walkman stock ROM for the X8? The new Timescape looks quite nice and the Walkman app has changed tremendously and you can also change the theme now like the thread bubble colour and background colour in the Messaging app. I hope that it can be done really soon
What I can promise is that I'll port Xperia Active apps for SE look and feel to FXP CM7 ROM for max stability. Porting will start tomorrow, when I get Xperia Active system.sin.
Something like this is already available for X10, Arc and Play - CM7 ROM with SE stock apps by Achtojan - CM7 speed with the beautiful SE 2.3 style.
Also, if someone has got Live with Walkman firmware, please PM me.
That looks interesting

Well, mostly thematical, but with the actual Active's/Live's apks.
I do it mostly because I really miss a lot Play's UI.
And yeah, it'll be based on FXP CM7.
woah nice 1 Blagus, cant wait. Does this mean we might be able to get the FB discovery app where we can share apps, music and so on?
Maybe which one do you prefer? Active or Live with Walkman?
both please. I would like to see the phone again with the same feeling when I turned it on.

Combination is what I was thinking about.
Of course, boot animation, notification bar, everything, plus the smoothness of CM7 ROM

List of Things We'd Like to See In SE's ICS Update for the Play

Thought it would be a good idea to make a (reasonable) list of things to ask of SE for their Ice Cream Sandwich update they are prepping for the Xperia Play.
I'll start;
3.0 kernel (I swear, if we are still on 2.6.32... )
Dedicated recovery partition - Standard feature
Make /data partition bigger - This is a gaming phone after all
CRT animation for screen off/on selectable in Display options
Ability to take pictures with the L/R button
R button brings up camera when on homescreen
Digital Zoom in camera
Improved Theme Support
Widget size changes
Market Link in app drawer like in stock ics
Official Notification bar toggles
Full PSN integration
Internet Passtrough
PS3 Remoteplay
Xloud boost for Speakers (not earphones/headsets)
Better camera app
Kernel open for OC if rooted (allow up to 1.4GHz frequency)
A Basic File Manager app
Reboot option in the power menu.
Bravia Engine
Nicer then default ICS homescreen
Uninstallable games
Better battery life
Updated Qualcomm GPU Drivers to improve graphics performance.
The 3.0 kernel doesn't have enormous differences with 2.6.35, the version number was bumped to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of LinUx.

I know that (its also moving towards the trend of higher version numbers started by Chrome), but even so it would be 2.3.42 (ish) if not for the change, so we are still 20 months behind, which is quite crap at this stage. A kernel update would go a long way towards improving performence.
I think Xperia team should ADD a ZOOM to the CAMERA -__-
I can't emagine a phone with a camera but no zoom
XMB menu as theme selection would be nice:

Why do you want digital zoom, it makes the pictures look even worse because all it does is crop the pic.

And everyone asking for zoom its going to come, Xperia play uses stock android camera and the camera is updated in ics which means we will get the new ics camera.

Old folders-these 2.3.4 are so ugly
Xloud boost, can come with a warning, eg. Max volume can sometimes damage your speakers...
Kernel open for OC-I don't think that is possible, but I dont know why...Maybe if they made it like that only if you did something trought recovery, maybe like OC-off?

new to android, need some apps, any recommendations?

hey, just got a nexus 4, i need 3 particualr apps, anyone recommend some good ones?
1) a note taking program, i've been using the default ios notes on my ipod touch 4g and it's sweet. need something sweet and simple like it, not overly complicated.
2) need a voice memo program, again similar to the default ios voice memos.
3) need a music player that will let me skip or go to previous track by pressing and holding the volume buttons. on ios, i did this with activator and so i need something similar. i don't want to take out my phone on the subway everytime i want to skip or repeat a track
edit: 4) actually i have another question, is there any thing like spotlight search for android? on IOS, the OS indexes everything and so when you scroll all the way left, you just type in the name of the the thing you want to search and it'll show up in music, or movies or whatever. it's very useful. i know google's default search does this, but anything better?
THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!!

a lot of people like catch notes. but i use an app called freenote. its a normal note deal. but it also lets you use a stylus to write whatever you want. and then it shrinks it down and sticks it in a line. it works flawlessly. better on a n7 or n10 though.
as far as voice recorder, there are tons of them in the play store.
if you root and install aokp. you get the features you are wanting for music built into the rom.
Try power amp it supports headphone controls and is the best overall music player I've ever used it has a great ui and lock screen widget
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
for note taking i recommend colornote. Works well for me.
For voice memo either you can use default voice recorder or use evernote for above and this purpose.
For music there are plenty of apps available. Try them out.
I am sure you will find lots of stuff better compare to iOS.
I know you didnt ask for this but I recommend cerberus. Its like the find my iPhone App. Its great incase you loose it

Most custom roms allow you to track skip any media player with volume buttons.

because i came from IOS? and i love some of the features of it? when you love some features or some apps, you're always going to try to find something similar. human nature. and like someone stated, i'm in the transitioning process.
For note taking, try SpringPad, Evernote, and Catch Notes, then pick your preference. They all have voice memos and back up your information to the cloud so you can access them from a PC, too. I used to use Color Note on my old phones, but moved on for the cloud storage and the better UI of the above mentioned.

Like you said, just opening the default search, accessible through a widget, has full device search (or "spotlight"). What do you mean by better?

The stock google music player supports changing songs. I use it since i got the phone. Press twice and it goes to the next song. I think pressing three times it takes you back a song. Im on stock 4.2. Im using my samsung vibrant's one button headset.

its better to have the functionality built in and fast than it is to add apps to do these things and eventually slow down the phone. its also nice to be able to customize the entire experience. from quick settings all the way down to the on-screen buttons. and if you stick nova (launcher in play store) on there... you get full customization of everything in between. along with uber speedy transitions and animations. without slowing down the os.
your phone is made to dev on. it is near impossible to brick. use it for what it is made for and i promise you will enjoy the ride.
spotlight (universal search) is patented. so android cannot do that.
