Two New HTC One Editions - One (M7) General

I just got my HTC One today and i must say it is a brilliant phone. I love the aluminium unibody of the device and rest of the phone is great too I just came across these two new version of the HTC One, Platinum & Gold HTC One Editions. I must say they look awesome, i could only imagine what they would feel like in hand But i think they are a bit too expensive, would any one of your be buying one of these? I would love to know if there are people who can actually afford these :good:

These aren't officially released by HTC.

I seriously doubt any of the cheapos here on XDA could afford the phone and if they could afford it they'll probably send back because it has one dead pixel or small gap.

Well if I had just spent £2600 on a phone and it had a dead pixel or a gap of course I would sent it back. It's like 6X the normal price of the phone. Rather than you average car purshase you decide to spend 6x as much, you will expect I to be perfect!

I don't think anybody is cheapos when talking about phones that are worth more than 2500$. And I certainly would complain about a gap or dead pixel if a phone this expensive had one of those issues...

I wouldn't consider buying it anyway but what makes more sense to you, people complaining about gaps for something that cost 500-600$ or people complaining about gaps for something they paid for 2500$? I guess we have a different logic
Back on topic.

What happens when The battery needs replacing and HTC are "no longer supporting the device" or have gone bust and can't replace the battery? I guess if you have the money to buy this it doesn't matter anyway!

Also, gold and platinum are WAAAYY softer than anodized AL.
And as far as I can tell, they just put the plating directly on top of the anodized layer.
So your phone will be normal looking in, ehhh, about a year.

I'm going to do the same thing I do with all of my other phones...use it . As far as making reach its full potential, I'm waiting for a bad ass custom ROM to surface. Once the boards are riddled with new ROMs that really push this hardware, thats when my fun really begins. For now, I'm going to run stock for a couple months to give the development community some time to cook up some awesomeness.

What case are you planning on buying? My sister wants to put on a cell phone charm as well, but the only cases that have a cutout for the lanyard are Samsung cases that we've found so far.
Actually...I liked "Take over the world"
Buying more accessories for it than I need. Cables, cases, batteries, chargers, screen protectors, etc... till I figure out which ones I like best and use most often, then the rest will stay in a box as spares.

Picking up a GS3 from Verizon tomorrow. Sad to leave this awesome Sprint community and my first smartphone that actually lasted me the entire length of the contract. Also kinda sad that I'm gonna have to keep track of data and hope for workarounds with the Verizon version of the device. But I'll be saving money by jumping back onto my family plan (now that they all have data too, only gonna cost me $40 instead of $75 by myself on Sprint) and the improved signal and service should be nice as well. Thanks to all the developers and members here for doing some AWESOME stuff with the Epic 4G for sure!
I have a fun fact for you "upgraders". Your S3 is going to be new, shiny, and exciting. For us late bloomers who got the epic a year after you did, well, let's just say the LTE quad cores with unreleased swag and EPIC upgrades will make you butthurt. So there!!!!! Yes, I might be an idiot.

I got my white price matched with absolutely no issues, try it out... also I am returning the s III and waiting out for the Photon Q ... I thought I could do without the keyboard, but I miss it too much. I am not as productive with the virtual keyboard as I am with a regular keyboard. It's not even that the VK is soo bad, but I am more likely to put off things like enter calendar dates and take notes and reminders because it is more of a hassle than with a physical keyboard. It was also a bit too big for me to comfortably use with one hand.
Bottom line is if you are thinking about switching but are attached to the keyboard, you may want to wait for a little longer to see if another slider comes out. I think a 4.3" slider with a 720p screen would be absolutely perfect.
I just played with the GS3 and I have to say it doesn't feel as solid in hand as the gnex, gs2, and especially the evo lte. However, it seemed the most fluid of them all.

Buying a N4 from craigslist

I think I found an old guy who does not want his N4. Can I pull my att sim card from straight talk and put it in the n4?

You may need to create the APN, but the phone is Sim unlocked.
Look for scratches, cracks, touchscreen unresponsiveness, earpiece crackle (some is OK. Just make sure it isn't unbearable), dead pixels and yellow spots on the screen.

I was stereotyping him because he said his wife had to order the phone online for him and that kind of phone wasn't for him. I am guessing it might of been his first smart phone. He is selling a 16 gig for 300 bucks and he used it one day.

It's an unevenness in the way the backlight lights up the screen. You'll see brighter spots around the edges. Some say it's the type of screen. It's not something I've ever looked for or noticed. It doesn't bother a lot of people, but perfectionists let it get to them.
