Ive been trying out many roms, ended up liking paranoid android but I get random reboots so Im gonna stick with Cyanogenmod stable for now. One problem is that no Roms have the 4.2.2 emoji. You can get emoji plug ins for like go sms and other sms apps but I want the emoji you can use on any app like on stock 4.2.2

What are you talking about? Emoji has been instituted in every version of android since 4.1, stock or not. If you're talking about the keyboard search the play store or google, it's floating around.

Hey guys,
I just bought a brand new Nexus 4 from Google Play and I rooted it first with AOKP but now I'm on CyanogenMod. Within a couple of days my keyboard started to become so laggy that it just crashes while I'm texting or writing an email. I switched ROMs and I installed kernels to see if anything helps but after a few hours it gets back to the same problem.
I don't know if I should unroot it and go back to stock. Or what I should do because this is extremely annoying.
Any sort of help would be appreciated
Thanks!

Could it possibly be with anything else you install? I've never had a laggy keyboard before. Are you using the keyboard that comes with the rom or installing your own? I'll use either the stock keyboard or SwiftKeys.
Also do you have a large dictionary or other addons?

Thanks for your reply. I just have normal apps like Facebook and music players. I am using the keyboard that comes with the ROM itself, and no I don't have any addons or anything.
I'm really thinking about unrooting and then rerooting it again to see if that helps

I just find it weird because I've had absolutely no laggy keyboard at all with my Nexus 4 (with either stock/rooted or with this SlimBean 4.2.2), using either the stock keyboard or SwiftKeys, it's a pretty powerful phone too so even swiftkeys with it's predictions shouldn't become laggy. I suspect there's something else amiss especially if you have this problem on more than one rom.

Thanks bro but I'll just try unrooting/rerooting to rule out any other problems

lol, root isnt the problem. unrooting it will amount to washing your cloths because your car is leaking air out of its tires. but, it can be cm. 1st, try just deleting the keyboards data in the main phone settings, app, all, then delete the keyboard apps data. if its not fixed, then boot into recovery and wipe your dalvik cache and cache. if still not fixed, try a different rom or different keyboard.
I was just wondering if I need a touchwiz based ROM in order to sync with my fitbit. It says the gs4 is compatible but it won't sync with my aokp rom. I'm guessing because of the bluetooth differences?

that is weird, dude. i'm gonna do some searching around...
EDIT: you're not alone. apparently there isnt the software support from the manufacturer for non-stock firmware yet.

It requires bluetooth 4.0 low energy which the gs4 has. Apparently the stack that Samsung uses in touchwiz works. I don't see why googles wouldn't.

Crap so you need touchwiz. So lame.

Super lame. I guess your options are using one of the Stock-based roms or maybe just use Nova launcher over stock to get the aosp look you're going for.

They just updated the app for google edition 4.3
I just got a fitbit and I love LIQUIDSMOOTH.
I will be Syncing on my PC and tablet till they get all of 4.3 figured out. Haven't been impressed with the development of Google edition ROMS.

Hey, so I found this reddit thread: http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/1ol2g8/fyi_using_a_modified_fitbit_apk_you_can_now/
They link to this xda thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46041881&postcount=26
It is basically a modified fitbit apk that makes it work on more devices. If someone with a fitbit who is currently running a ROM like CM or AOKP could try it out and see if it works that would be awesome.
Hi there,
I recently purchased my nexus 7. I used to have an XDA account from years ago.
Basically, tonight I installed the AOSP ROM released for the nexus 7 on rootzwiki forums and I found that it had the normal launcher so it seemed like a jelly bean ROM with a white theme to it. Since then I discovered I was able to download and install Google Home and that enabled me to use the new UI with the transparent status bar and nav bar. So far I like it a lot. Its quite stable with a few bugs and it will get better.
And a video on YouTube of the ROM

Partially working Gapps http://d-h.st/EIM
I would add screenshots but the xda app doesn't let me

I believe it's the launcher. As you can see, the Search Bar is out of place too, I have the Google Experience launcher on my n4, and it doesn't look like that. I believe this launcher wasn't N7.2 ready.

That's exactly what I am waiting for as well. As much as I want to flash a 4.4 ROM, I'm just gonna patiently wait for an official release....can't wait!!!

Hello I was wondering what everyone was using instead of Google's hangouts app for SMS. I am stuck looking for a good alternative. Also I saw an AOSP SMS app with the sliding side bar kind of how hangouts has it now but I can't seem to find it anymore.

Go SMS works well... had tried it earlier...

Ninja sms ftw. It is a paid app, but the window is wonderful. Reply without leaving the app youre using is great.

You may try 8SMS
I'm still using the old messaging app, isn't that included in 4.4 rom? (I personally flashed 4.4 over 4.3, so it's still there).
Good evening all, does anyone know how to enable the coloured emojis that are in 4.3/4.4 on out beloved S2 4.1.2 Stock? I have the new Google keyboard and it has the emojis, but only a select few. I wish to have the coloured ones on the Google keyboard.
Many thanks!

Alot of sms apps use it now ie. Evolvesms or Hangouts. You can't get it systemwide though without upgrading to Android 4.4
