I know I can disable the Auto Backup feature all together, but can I keep the photo auto backup on and disable video backup only?
Anyone?
There doesn't seem to be a direct option for it on the G+app, but if anything you can restrict it to WiFi only; not exactly what you were looking for though :/
Can't check for it atm, but maybe there's something under Gallery's settings?
Settings>accounts:Google>Google+>Camera and Photos>Auto Backup>Backup Settings and change to only WiFi. No option To just turn it off. Not sure why.

Well, I guess there is just no way to disable it separately. Thanks for your answers!

first Enable backup Local folders in Photo app. then follow this
Turn backup on or off for individual folders
Open the Photos app > touch the Photos menu icon at the top left > On Device > to the right of each folder title, toggle the Blue cloud icon to turn Auto Backup on or off for that folder:
I know it sucks. there should clearly be an option of not to backup Videos right in the settings.. anyway.. that the only way other than turning all backup off. also dont forget to check backup during wifi & charging only

1. Go to Google+ android app and click on option to view setting menu.
2. Select setting option. Then you would be able to see Auto Backup Setting. This is the setting that automatically backup your photos and videos to Google Photos.Select that option.
3. You would see Autobackup option page. There at the top, there would be ON/OFF button. Tap on it to enable or disable it.
On third step, you will see backup photos and backup videos setting under backup setting. From there, you can do only photos or only videos upload and configure them according to your requirement.

SO frustrating
This is ridiculous. The video option is greyed out. WTF. Why? I have to turn this whole thing off because it keeps backing up my videos and filling the frakk out of my google space. AUGH!
I love that we are at the end of 2015 and google still haven't made a simple switch to disable video uploads. OneDrive has it though....
In Australia ADSL2 is the most prevalent internet technology servicing a huge portion of the population but is limited by the technology to a maximum of 1.5mbps upload (normally you get 20-30KB/s) and it takes hours and hours to upload a 700mb video. Because you are moving your phone from location to location this upload constantly gets interrupted and never completes so every time I am on WiFi I just have a huge battery drain from this app trying to upload the same movie for all eternity.

I have my SGS2 on order and am so excited, that I actually read the user manual pdf in anticipation. These are the improvements that I could see:
Create folders in the apps list
Turn the phone over to mute an incoming call
Tilt to zoom a website / picture
Photo editor app (although this is on the SGS1 Samsung apps)
Video maker (also on Samsung apps)
Tasks app (not sure if this syncs with Google Tasks)
Wi-fi direct (ad-hoc wifi mode built in)
Polaris office
Power saving mode options to automatically turn stuff off when the power is low
Other Motion settings
Can't wait to try these out!
Hi everyone. Its my first post on this HTC Glacier forum. My wife owns the Glacier but I don't really have time with her phone to mess with it and figure this out myself (we are both very busy through out the day). The stock gallery shows no media (pics or videos) in my phone, but I have QuickPic installed and it shows all the pics and videos. It wouldn't be such a problem cuz I don't care for the stock gallery itself (I prefer QuickPic) but if you are texting and decide to add a attachment there is no option to use Qickpic to get that file (only the stock gallery). You would have to use QuickPic to view the file first then from there use the share option to sent it as MMS, but since my wife is learning to use the phone (she came from a Blackberry) she finds it anoying that way. I later installed the Gallery 3D to check it out but it also shows no media in her phone.
The phone is pretty much stock 2.2.1, perm-rooted with Visionary (haven't done the s=off option though). Thank for your time and I'm sorry if this has been discussed cuz I searched but didn't find it

I can't give you a solution to your problem, but I'm pretty sure the stock messaging app lets you take the pictures from QuickPic. I do it all the time.
Try going into "Manage Applications" and click on and clear the defaults on your stock gallery app. Once you do that, the next time you try and attach a picture it will ask you which application you want to use to attach it, then you can just re-select QuickPic.
Thx Alan, I'll try that.
Ok so I figure out what the problem was (had to steal the phone from her for about 30 min). It seems DRM Protective Content has to be running for me to view my media. I had it frozen with TB since that's the way I have it in my Vibrant and it causes no issue there, its just one of those system apps that I didn't want/needed to be running but for some reason the stock galley (in the Glacier) needs it to view your media... weird. Anyways when I plug the phone to the PC it turns DRM off and then I cant view my media again. Even after I disconnect it and go check to see if DRM is running (which it is) my gallery still says "no media" but Quickpic shows it though. I have to go back to TB then freeze then unfreeze DRM and then I'm able to view my media in the gallery... weird also.
Also... with QuickPick and Gallery 3D installed, I still don't have the option to choose either one when applying a attachment while sending a text message (only the stock gallery is available to choose). I cleared the data on all 3 galleries and also on the messaging app to see if then it gives me the option to choose, but nothing. Any ideas people. THX ahead.
Hmm had no idea the stock gallery was linked to DRM. Probably has something to do with HTC Sense and it's closed sourceness.
Does the DRM get refrozen when you actually mount your sdcard on the pc or just by plugging it in on charge only? It sounds like some sort of bug created by TB. If that DRM actually is a vital(or semi-vital) piece of the stock sense, then perhaps when you froze it that created bugs for the parts of the system that used it.
I've noticed in certain cases some actions will stick to the settings even once you undo the changes through the app you created the changes with. For example, on my stock Rom I used automate it pro to set my Bluetooth to power on when an external power source was connected. Eventually I disabled this rule and uninstalled the app, but those settings stuck permanently and now whenever I use my stock Rom and plug it in to charge, Bluetooth will turn on. Perhaps something similar is happening to your wife's phone...
I'd say try downloading a different messaging app like handcent or go sms and seeing if they have the same problem attaching photos. Perhaps the stock sense message app is linked to the stock gallery and I just don't remember that. I'll check one of my old backups and let you know what I find.

i cant turn off the camera shutter and focus sound...i tried to replace the camera files in ui folder with silent ones and didn't work..and tried deleting the whole folder and didn't work..tried root apps from play store and still !!
the only app worked is camera mute which is actually mute the phone while in camera application and i didnt like that
there should be an option in the camera settings to turn off the camera shutter sound, unless it's different for the international models?
Check this thread in the General forum.

You need to have Root, but there's a code you can add to your CSC files to enable it.

There is an app to turn of camera shutter sound in note 3. It does not require root. PM me for the link [New members can't post links]
There are multiple ways to disable this "feature". Here in EU it isn't allowed to have cameras that don't make sounds when taking a picture because you could sneak pictures from people and so. Basically, the option to turn off sound is implemented in the camera software. But the files initiallizing the app on start up tell the software to show or hide this option. That said, you can try to use an app to disable the stock app sound, you can manually change settings in the files that tell the camera what to do (as easy as adding a line of text or even just changing one bit from 0 to 1 or vice versa) or you can use an Xposed module like wanam where there's an option for this that can easily be toggled.
So far I haven't heard of a method that works if you're not rooted, so root seems to be mandatory if you want to do this.
If root isn't your thing, check out other picture taking apps in google play. There are certainly apps that allow to disable shutter sound, and some of those apps provide more/better camera functionality than the stock app. Dpreview.com is a great photography site which also has a mobile phone section called connect. There you get in depth reviews on phone's cameras and apps from a photographers point of view.
I want to start by saying that I most certainly am not retarded and consider myself quite bright. Now with the issue at hand:
Google+
This damned thing is installed on my G2 (Stock 4.4.2 no modifications) and has that thing called Google+ Auto-backup for photos.
All good so far, I had it on my old phone too, I just disabled it.
Problem is on the G2 IT WONT STAY DISABLED.
I have been testing it for a couple of days now. It just won't take no for an answer. I disabled it several times and it just goes back enabled by itself I swear to god.
It uploads my photo automatically and there's absolutely nothing I can do.
It won't let me delete Google+ and it won't let me disable it. So I'm stuck. Everytime I take a photo or a video, the phone uploads it automatically without me being able to stop it and then gleefully lets me know how nice he was that the photos are now online for people to see. ARE YOU ****TING ME?!
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? I literally cannot understand why it just won't stay disabled (in the Auto-Sync settings of the phone) because the weird part is that it (the app itself) reports as being disabled but then... apparently, it isn't.
don't think your alone lol
maybe try signing out of google+ and then finding Google+ in settings apps and force stop it and delete data
Limit data usage only to Wi-Fi - from app-property
I've just lost 400 mega of mobile data: I started voluntarily backup while in Wi-Fi, but it continued in mobile...
Just so you know, those backups are for your eyes only. (It says right there in google+, in almost those exact words, so dont just assume they are there for everyone to see ?)
I think it's a nice utility. All my photos get backed up over WiFi only, then I can go into google+ and choose which ones, if any, to share.
VS980 - Stock Rooted 4.4.2
Grouper - SlimKat F2FS
TF300T - CROMBI-KK
YP-G1 - CM11/Impulse
So I posted this over on Reddit, but then realised that here is probably a better place for more tech users.
I needed to root my OP5 and went through the process.
Now after I've got everything up and running, all my apps installed, and Backups restored - I've noticed something very bad and annoying.
If I use the stock app to take a photo it will take the picture and show it in the gallery preview. But as soon as I try to view that photo using the gallery preview shortcut, or the gallery app, the photo instantly turns completely green.
All other apps take photos fine.
Using stock app Photos work on:
Depth Mode
Normal Mode with HDR Active
Photos are fully green with:
HDR Off
HDR Auto
HQ Mode
Anyone else experienced this?
I really dont want to have to wipe again because it takes over an hour to set up all my accounts and 2 factor auth stuffs...
Just after I wrote this someone on reddit said they had something similar with OP3 - They had to re-flash because of a corrupted build.prop. I rooted to change a bunch of stuff, including editing the build.prop.
I did a little digging and found that if you change the permissions of build.prop then it works.
Changed them to:
Owner - read, write, execute
Group - read
Other - read
Will leave this thread as a reference to others in case anyone else comes across this issue.
