Hi All,
I know its a topic which has been addressed differently in different threads. I am a user from India and have a GSM SIM. I have got a Verizon S4 phone. I tried using it with Vodafone SIM and get a problem in using it. Surprisingly a NOTE 2 from Verizon works just fine. I am able to use it for data with 3G but not able to use it for voice. Following steps have been tried already.
- Default Options of using Global Mode and GSM/UMTS ** Doesnt search the network at all.
- Hidden Menu Changes using # codes. ** Shows network but emergency mode only.
- Phone Info app to change the mode. ** Shows network but emergency mode only.
- RF Band change using the hidden menu. ** Shows network but emergency mode only.
It does say that it has GSM radio but cant be used for some software reason I suppose. I checked with Verizon Rep and was told that it cannot be used in India with a GSM SIM and would need the Verizon SIM only to connect with International Roaming.
I was able to install Wanam Lite I-9505 ROM on the phone and patch it with Loki-Doki patch and the phone was booting. But the network signal was not getting picked up. I had data connectivity but no voice or SMS. Is it possible to patch the I-9505 radio over to I-545 and / or force it use GSM as the primary modem.
Any idea for this?

Have you messed with your APN settings? I use a I545 with T-mobile here in the states and all I had to do was change the APN settings

Hi,
I imported the international D802 version from eBay HK and updated to the KitKat UK firmware using the support tool.
I'm on Three and the 4G works when I have to manually switch on LTE using the service menu key hack "*#*#4636#*#*".
However this is not permanent and it does not show up as one of the network modes in the system menu.
Does anyone know how to get the phone to always recognise that it can choose 4G normally under Mobile Networks > Network mode
I have a i9505 running 4.2.2 (UFNB8, DBT CSC) stock, non-rooted. My problem is that I still can't get LTE/WCDMA to display as an available option in Network Mode. Operator is Telenet (MVNO, Belgium). I am in a 4G area, according to the operator my SIM card is 4G capable and my IMEI has been 4G activated. According to them I should be able to connect to the LTE netwrok, but no go. They advised factory reset but I don't want to do that for now as I am not sure it will help. I remember seeing LTE as available when I roam (in roaming my MNC is different though).
Any ideas (apart from rooting and forcing LTE radio on?).
How does the 9505 decide when to turn on the LTE radio? Is it based on getting an LTE signal or is something defined on configuration file level per MCC/MNC...?
Cheers.
OK, I should have searched more. But for future generations' sake, apparently there are two possible reasons:
1. Need a factory reset (still don't understand why?!)
2. Your phone's CSC is not supported on your current carrier's network (apparently this is checked and there's a whitelist of some sort)
In my case it was 1 - I reset and now LTE/WCDMA appears.
Cheers
So my lte/cdma mode doesnt seem to work at all, i know i have 4g but when i turn on my phone it says mobile network (under settings) connecting and then the mobile network type keeps flashing from lte to unknown, however if i i switch to cdma mode 3g works fine so does anyone know a fix to lte ? i already reflashed with odin and also restored and did all that (sm-g900r4) i also attempted to do a nanroid restore but that didnt fix it either :/
I recently bought an unlocked N910S but I seem to be having some problems with LTE (I live in the US) and can't seem to access the network mode menu in 'more networks' (the option is grayed out).
Some things I've tried:
Added the access point for my provider (Cricket/AT&T)
Booting in safe mode (no changes).
Flashing other regions' stock roms (N910T, N910V, N910T); Odin gets stuck at NAND wrtie start and only N910S stock rom seems to work.
Accessing Network Mode settings through the hidden menu (can get LTE if LTE17 or LTE All is selected but can't make or receive any calls).
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Using ATT LTE now. Stock rooted to remove a bunch of Korean apps. Use band 5 preferred in the hidden Menu. Band 17 also LTE but couldn't make phone calls. ATT LTE band 2, 4, 5, 17
Hi all.
I have the A2017. Before Nougat came out, I was using the US firmware (B29).
I was able to change to network type to LTE only using the service menu (*#*#4636#*#*).
Since 7.1.1 came, I began using the Original, Chinese ROM (currently using 7.1.1 B12).
I still have the same service menu, but the phone doesn't respond to any setting I set for the network type. Only when changing in the Dual Sim settings menu it does respond to my settings, but there is no LTE only setting there.
Can someone who uses the US B19 please check if it works for them? If it does, I will try to flash the US ROM.
Thanks.
Changes in that menu only apply to sim 1. If you're trying to edit sim2, then no go. Still works here (for sim1) on a2017u.

So you're using B19? Then I should too. Because I only have one sim, and it doesn't work for me at all.
I hope it's only related to the ROM and not to the modem, as I do have to keep the Chinese modem anyway.
I'm not sure how that menu works on a 2017G. You could try the app from the play store Network Signal Guru. There's an option in there call change RAT settings. That allows you to change network modes too. It does require root.
