[Q] USB drivers for XT907 with eclipse ROM - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm running Eclipse ROM RC5.2 (JB 4.2.2).
I tried connecting my phone via USB to PC (not FASTBOOT AP, just regular) and I'm getting "Device not recognized". Do I have to download a different USB driver to work with my phone so I can transfer files?

Dumb question, have you tried other USB ports? For some reason, only 1 port on my laptop likes to play nice with my Razr M.
Also, do you have the default Moto drivers installed? If not, they are included in Matt's 1.20 utility download.

I did try a few ports (had the same experience as well). I may have uninstalled the moto drivers while trying to fix. I'll try the driver download.
However, the zip caused the phone to hang so I don't know what's up with that. I was connecting fine before CM10.1. Is that common when flashing ROMs?

Still no luck
I am running Eclipse 5.0-build-2 (build date 6/15/2013)
I have a nexus 7 as well and I ran into conflicts between the two drivers so I've had to switch back and forth with setups. However, after flashing eclipse the drivers no longer worked. I have tried wiping out all the USB vendors and drivers and setting the razr drivers back up again but no luck.
I'm going to try and use the drivers from matt's utility.

THANK YOU!!! I've been waiting for someone else to have the same problem!!! I'm relieved it's not just mine. I'm assuming you did a manual install also? Is yours rooted? One person suggested ClockworkMod but I'm a little nervous about rooting. I've been doing the manual installs but that's as for as I wanna go. I can't stand the idea of bricking my phone.
My phone is new out of the box!
I found that on two Windows XP machines USB storage doesn't work. I then plugged it into a Win7 box and it worked perfectly. I also used a different cable with the Win7. Try a different cable and try Win7.

I have Windows XP on my work PC and Windows 7 Premium 64 on my home notebook and the USB worked fine on 2.3.3. Every since I did the manual install of 2.3.4 the USB functionality is gone. I'm thinking maybe the ROM is used wasn't incomplete. It's beginning to look like the only way to fix this is to root my phone
FWIW I did the manual update (full rom) and USB storage works fine on my Windows 7 Ultimate x64 box.

Yeah, I'm thinking maybe the one I installed wasn't the full ROM. As soon as I see people saying it works great I go ahead and use it. Do you know of any possible fixes without rooting?
No first hand experience, but would it be possible to download the full rom and manually flash it again?

Trying to figure that out. I've been told try ClockworkMod and go back to 2.3 but I'm trying to do it without rooting.
Try a different USB port
If the update was incomplete, the update would have failed the signature check. The first time I connected my Nexus S after manually patching to 2.3.4, Windows 7 Professional X64 did not detect it when connected. I unplugged it and used a different USB port and it worked. I then tried the original port and it also worked. I would try a different USB port and a scan in Device Manager before changing the ROM.

I also have Windows 7 Prof. 64 bit, but switching to different ports didn't work. It won't install the drivers. What else could that mean if it isn't the ROM?
I had this problem immediately after flashing CWM.
I booted into the ROM, then, while the USB was plugged in, powered off the device, and turned it back on. It then seems to work everytime I turn on the device, as long as I don't boot into recovery.
Me too
.
I had a the same problem with my SGS.
The trick for me did: disable usb-legacy-support in your motherboard-bios.
Have you tried re-installing USB driver from the latest android SDK?
Kind of strange, it was working great yesterday and today couldn't connect. Right clicked on android_winusb.inf and selected install and it started working again. Not sure what could have changed from one day to the next. But at least I know what to do when it happens again.

Never tried that. Doesn't that involve rooting or unlocking the bootloader? Both of those wipe the USB storage.

Don't have a custom ROM. All I did was manual bootload 2.3.4 on stock Android. The weird thing is when it's plugged in(charging only) and I turn it off, it starts to power down and then freeze. The screen doesn't go black until I pull it out. Then when I plug it back in it automatically powers back on. Basically, I can't seem to plug it in while it's powered off.
I have no idea why but my suddenly works again. Im happy but confused
You shouldn't need any drivers at all for windows XP vista 7 ect. Mounting your SD card, using flash drives... all use the same USB mass storage divice driver built into windows.

Trying to use odin to flash the stock rom but I cannot connect to pc. I have the correct drivers and usb cable and have tried 2 different pc's that have worked in the past. Running cyanogenmod 11. Any help is appreciated.

Do the ##3284# Menu an see if MTP and ADB is checked.
If that doesn't work find a USB Storage app from the play store and that forces it in that mode. If that still doesn't work then you need to gather up all your Micro USB cords and try every one. Or use the one that came in the box
I had that same problem before, I fixed it by uninstalling drivers and installing again. Maybe flash another rom and see if that works. I know if you have usb fast charging enabled enabled on ktkernel that will prevent your computer from recognizing phone. Good luck

Do you still have the Chroma zip on your phone? I'm guessing not, but if you do just flash that. You could try uninstalling the drivers that you currently have and installing the drivers from the Android SDK. I have a link to the SDK download page and instructions on how to install it in my guide. Otherwise, do you have access to a Linux machine? No drivers required for Linux, you just need to install the Android SDK and adb and fastboot should work out of the box so to speak. Or if you don't have access to a Linux machine you could even create a bootable Linux usb and do it that way.

Oneplus 2 no OS installed

Hey guys,
Earlier today I wiped my phone while trying to update the system, but when I tried to install the update it failed. That means that I'm now sitting without an OS on my phone, only able to access TWRP Recovery and Fastboot. I've successfully installed adb drivers and all of that, but when connecting the phone to a computer ADB doesn't find any devices and device manager only sees it as an unknown USB device (Device Descriptor Request Failed). I have been seaching for a couple of hours now and have not been able to find anything that works, so I'm hoping that you guys can help.

When I try to update the driver, as it says in step A-7, the only unknown device is the unknown usb device and when I try to update that one with the qc folder, it just says that Windows have determined that it is up to date?

Have you tried connecting to PC while in TWRP recovery ? You should be able to access internal storage using mtp. Then you can copy another rom & flash it.
I have tried connecting to Windows 8.1 on a Macbook Pro while in TWRP Recovery, and that's where it said it was an unknown USB device.

Lets try installing the drivers again. If this doesn't work, then it should be a cable issue OR usb port issue. Try this on another pc.
1. Download Oneplus2 USB drivers -> https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347833370
2. Before installing the drivers, Disable Driver Signature Enforcement. -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NM1MN8QZhnk
3. Install the drivers & Restart.
4. Now try either connecting to pc while in TWRP or fastboot.
you can flash factory image through fastboot

Maybe this is a bit annoying but the best solution is to buy another cable since a few weeks ago I had the same problem, bought a new cable and the problem was solved. Hope this helps
Then flash the OS through TWRP using the advanced tool that allows you to sideload files using adb.

How to enter mtp on recovery/fastboot?
I've done the same thing in the past (erase everything) , the solution that worked for me is this:
1.Always have a twrp back up on a usb stick.
2.Buy a cheap usb 2 type c to usb adaptor.
3.Enter twrp and restore the back up.
This way you do not need a pc/drivers etc.
I hope it helps.
