There isn't a sub forum for the A and I've seen others post Xperia A stuff here plus it is basically a smaller variant of the Z.

Thanks for the update but it would be nice if you could have posted this to appropriate section of the forum as this is not Development related.

Mostly Bug fixes, maybe improved battery life, and small build increase in the some of the built in apps like Gmail and browser etc.
Then you got all the new Sony stuff on top, so should be good.
and the all important fix to the user data encryption problem recently made public... which is prevalent in all Android versions upto 2.3.4!

My point is that I have got Xperia Arc for more than month and I noticed that SE doesn't hurry with updates at all. Look at SGS 2 from samsung. They relased first update fixing some bugs just after 2 weeks they introduced the model....

Except that can and is being fixed server-side by Google, so not having 2.3.4 isn't as big an issue as it might be.
Plus, the problem only occurs when using unsecured wi-fi networks - the clue is in the name

Yeah, they pushed out a minor bug-fix.
This is a combination bug-fix and update to the next version of Android, of course that's going to take more time.
When other manufacturers like HTC are only just updating their current handset range to 2.3.2 and SE are updating the Arc and Play from 2.3.2, I don't really see why you're being so negative.
Pretty new to the android stuff so,
Will this be an OTA Update?
My Phione is unlocked and rootet, any issues for updating?
Last question will it wipe your phone?
thx for replies...
@Karooluss This will be the 2nd update for the arc....
It launched on build .181 and is now .184.
So uhm...... 2 updates (including an android version update), and the phone's only been about 2 months. Not bad going?
Ronniecross, I have still 181 fw fersion although I check for new almost every day. 184 is probably update only for UK and it add some unnecessary stuff like bbc player?? Correct me if I m not right;-)

it's nice to have tablet ui back in 4.2.2, isn't it?

yes, i have got my tablet ui back in 4.2.2!!! so annoyed by the new ui
i love the tabletui soooooo much since i saw it about a year ago, then i turned all my s3 (sold) and note2 roms' ui into tablet mode. now, its my tablet z (but i may sell it for the locked bootloader since i want my custom rom and kernel)
:victory:
How did you do this? I downgraded cause i hate the new top menu in 4.2.2.
Sent from my SGP321 using xda app-developers app
I'm waiting for this as well o__o
If you tell me how to do it I'd update back to 4.2.2
I'm also interested in how you got back the old UI. However I noticed the small apps shortcut is missing.

Probably in the recent apps try seeing as though that's where Sony moved it in 4.2.2.
Please share the fountain of your knowledge on how you got this bud

Hi all
I was updating my blog before and included a simplified howto, sorry for late reply.
@Spartoi oh, u r rite. I didnt notice the tray until u mentioned it, coz i just got my tablet for more than a week's time, and then busy to root it, testing the roms and problems fixing
Anyway, its a matter of time when there will be a guy come out with the mod coz like many of you guys, a roll back to phone ui really upset me
However, i have to say goodbye to my tablet z. I love it but it is just not the right device for me. I prepared to work on those missing mods, tweaks etc that i think the tablet z needs and deserve to have before but finally i find myself difficult to live with this tablet for personal reasons
This is a nice tablet actually, but didnt draw much attention as other sony devices

Its shame that you're selling your tablet as it seems you could have made a lot of cool mods for the Tablet Z.
Anyways I noticed in your blog that you will provide a mod to get the Tablet UI back for us less technical users. Will this include a mod for the WiFi version or just the LTE version?

Can someone explain what this means? To someone who isn't sure what a kernel is.
Well, it basically means that soon we should see custom ROMs and kernels for this amazing phone.

That would be nice - but as i understand : the drivers for the modem and for the cam are missing -
If someone has better information - that would be fine
Cheers

Now if only Sony would be kind enough to provide a way to at least backup the DRM of the device before it gets permanently lost when unlocking the boot loader.
Time to time

Same here, I'll follow this thread and the whole Z3C forum for custom ROMs and buy one of these as soon as they become available. I'd like all the camera features, though...
I'm kind of bugged with the size of phones increasing year after year. I've got a SGS4, and I wouldn't mind having a smaller phone with the same battery size that could give me more "screen on" time. The Z3C seems to have everything I want, but I'm not just ready yet to give up custom ROMs.
Cheers!

I cannot wait! I skipped 4.4.4 due to the screen being way to sensitive to my liking, I think it was more of an android problem than Sony as the Galaxy s5 on 4.4.4 seems too sensitive to me as well.
Its 100% sure.Sony confirmed several times.Z3 and Z2 will take the update first, than the rest from the Z family.5.0 will start rolling at 10/15 of february. (hope there will be way for rooting it easly this time lol )

Hell yea bro. I really wish it'll work
Am I really the only one who finds Lollipop (atleast aosp) looking extremely unappealing? I gave it a go on my old Xperia Z but quickly just went back to 4.4.2... I really hope Sony will work their magic because the way Google made it is just... yuck... the notification dropdown is a mess and a great example of weird material-design would be the "Settings" menu of lollipop.. so much spacewaste filled with plain white.
The design guidelines for Android and even iOS confuses me these days -.- heck, even Windows and OS x look like plain colored crap! Tshh, tssh...

That's only if that method still works for LP. Isn't a kernel what allows SU during boot needed now? At least that was the case when I rooted my N7 2012 when LP was first released.

no, once you get root access SuperSu will add an exeption into the policy nearly imediatly so an unlocked bootloader is no longer required to root lollipop

Well that's a lot better than the need for an unlocked bootloader then (although I will probably unlock mine soon ). It is going to be interesting to see what Sony do with the 5.0 update.

Better don't do that, because Sony will release 5.0 in February. Better stay on locked bootloader, u can unlock bootloader only if u want to tray some another rom on another kernel (non stock, like CM, AOSP). I think Sony will release 5.0 in 30 days maximum

That's actually my plan, to do a little bit of experimenting with another ROM/kernel/MultiROM.
Apart from Lollipop we all see news around that Sony is open to sell their mobile division. I'm so sad to hear that. Still its a rumour and we didn't see any new devices on CES too.

[REQUEST] Updated Sony Apps port for CM12.1 (5.1.1)

Hi everyone,
I recently switched to CM12.1 and I have to admit I miss the stock sony apps (but I don't want to go back to pesky stock rom).
I flashed the apps of Ibanez7 and they're pretty good! But still a lot of features are missing and a lot of bugs are present.
Some things like conversations, xperia home would do good to cm12.1 I think
Is there currently any dev busy making these things? Or do we have to wait for sony to officialy release stock 5.1?
I'm currently on an Xperia SP, so if I want to be up to date i have to rely on CM.
Thank you for understanding
I am currently building a Sony App Installer. I will inform you later on
Lastest Xperia Home You can install manually
I currently don't have time (vacation for a few weeks) and besides that, it would be better if I include Stryders ported apps and wait for stability updates...
New Z5 Apps already got released. Because of that, I won't create and port new ones.
