Ok so I have a RAZR m xt907 rooted with an unlocked bootloader running stock jb ROM 4.1.1. Also I'm using safe strap. I am trying to flash dhackers daily 629 using safe strap but after creating a 3 GB ROM slot and flashing the ROM, it simply will not boot. What am I doing wrong? I hope the information provided will suffice. Thank you in advance.

Edit: I figured out what I was doing wrong. I had to use cwm to get it working and not safe strap.

I stupidly accepted the latest 78 update and am now stuck with a locked bootloader. I'm working on rooting my phone now (thanks to the guys @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2379833) but am left with a question... can I load a custom ROM, say CM10.1, with just root?
Is there any utility out there to unlock the bootloader, or a way for me to downgrade from the current baseband I'm at now?
Thanks.
No. You need to be unlocked so you can install a custom recovery. That being said, you may be able to unlock the bootloader if you can root it.

I did get the phone eventually rooted. I found an old thread that showed how you can use SafeStrap (basically a wrapper around the original stock ROM) to install other custom ROMs with... is this a safe bet? I still have a locked bootloader as I took the new update... tried motopocalypse and it came up with the error code -11.

The thing about Safestrap is it don't flash the kernel when you try to flash a 4.2.2 rom so when you try to flash it keeps your stock kernel with a custom rom and it don't work out well
Flashing stock based ROMs with ss is fine though it's how we used to do it haha

I rooted my Razr M early on. I'm running TWRP v2.2.2.1 (i guess that means i'm unlocked? it's been a long time)
How can I swap over to CWM easily and change roms? I just want to update, i'm on the stock rom that's old and I want the new android updates without OTAing yaknow?
I'm not clueless just out of the loop so any help would be awesome, thanks
So you want a custom ROM or latest OTA update?
If you are running TWRP, then you are unlocked, and nothing can change that.
If you want a custom ROM (4.2.2 or 4.3.1) just update your TWRP to the latest version (via fastboot or Matt's utility) and flash whatever ROM and gapps combination suits your needs.
As for running the latest stock build, the easiest way is again to use Matt's utility.

Honestly i'd like to just have a rooted stock build, simply because i like the quick settings in the moto ROM better than some of the more advanced features of the new roms.
I can't change from TWRP? Wanted to swap over the CWM, i'm much more familiar with that. I'll google matt's utility but if you've got a link that would be awesome. Thanks for your help bud

I'd just update your twrp and flash the stock debloated deodexed... here the link to the topic of Matt's utility tho..http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2249773
Edit... just read you pefeer CWM just flash the most recent CWM... although I am not familiar with it and its compatibility with any 4.3 ROMs.... I haven't looked into it all so whatever recovery suits you...

Question ..i see alot of kit kat roms..what's the most stable 4.4 kit kat ROM ?
CyanogenMod 11 is pretty stable. I flash the nightly's once or twice a month, and I've never had a problem. Battery life is decent and everything seems to work.

For me PAC-rom is very very stable. Battery life better than in CM11, Carbon, Gummy. And PAC-rom is more customizable than every ROM i've tryed for RAZR M.
I'm on 98.30.1 firmware I can't unlock the boot loader ...is there any ROMs that work with my locked boot loader ?

You can flash custom ROM on your locked bootloader phone with SafeStrap recovery. Some people says that perfomance wouldn't be like if you flash it with normal custom recovery(i.e. CWM or TWRP), but i never noticed that. Of course, you need to root your phone to use SS recovery.

But none of the newer custom ROMs (Android 4.2+) work with SafeStrap, mind you.

Andy is correct, you can't flash just any ROM with SS. In fact, there are very few SS compatible ROMs out there right now. When or if they release the 4.4 OTA, I'm pretty sure there will a plethora of stock and aftermarket ROMs made available for SS.

Man!!! READ forum before posting!!
I did not realize you were boot locked.
Before this thread gets moved or deleted: you must tell us that whether you have unlocked your bootloader. If you haven't unlocked it, then you're stuck with SafeStrap and you should give up on ANY AND ALL custom ROMs beyond Android 4.2. Otherwise, if you have an unlocked BL, just fastboot flash a custom recovery and flash any ROM from there.
And stop posting the same question everywhere!

Sounds like you tried to flash some ROMs that aren't compatible with SS.

You're telling me I can run 4.2 roms in safestrap with a 4.1.2 base?
The only 4.2 ROM that worked was a CM10 port. It's running around in this forum somewhere.
You mean CM10.1(4.2)? or CM10 (4.1.2)

No, I mean everything Android 4.2+ will not run, including 4.2, 4.2.1, 4.2.2 and so on. I should've been clearer when describing. Just try that CM10 (Android 4.1.x).

There was a 10.1 in development for SS, but the BL unlock came out and they shifted focus away from SS.

I am trying install Liquidsmooth on ATT S4 on my rooted S4 which has BlackBox right now. How should I proceed with flashing my kernel.
Would just transferring the zip to memory card and then installing them should solve the problem of flashing my kernel?
Also, wanted to know if I should use SafeStrap with multiple ROM slots. As of now I had flashed on stock ROM.
You have a locked boot loader which prevents your kernel from being replaced.
Also, with KitKat Roms, only stock slot works.

I can use Loki for bypassing the bootloader right?
That works only with MDB or MDL boot loader.

So if I downgrade then I would be able to install Liquidsmooth right? Or are there any other steps I would need to perform. If you have any links I would really appreciate it.
Edit:
Sorry, I got confused. I am trying to find my bootloader.
