Can not send sms / No SMSC number, update error? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well, I got a strange problem. I can't send any text messages anymore. I can recieve, but not send.
I checked *#*#4636#*#* menu. The SMSC number is empty, when I press update it gives me "update error", when I press refresh my SMSC number appears, but it doesn't save I think, after a reboot it's empty again and the problem remains.
I followed this guide and did all the steps but nothing seems to help.
Anyone knows a solution for this?
Thx in advance

I went to the store to get me a new sim card, problem remains, I even flashed stock rom. Nothing seems to help
EDIT: Called my provider, apparently because I changed my contract something went wrong with my number, they fixed it, everything is working again.

[help!]Can not send the SMS with my GS 2

Dear everyone,
Please help me!!! I cannot send the SMS on my GS2, but I can receive SMS. I read from the screen:" Message not sent, Revie message and try again"
I asked three, which is my operator. But the technician is not very helpful. He tried to tell me to restart the phone, get out the sim card and put it back in the phone and restart, it wouldn't work. And I also tried to setup the configurations in Messaging----Settings----Text message (SMS) settings-----Message Centre. However, this option is grey and I cannot change.
I went to google and found some people was talking about the SMSC. Before this problem happened, I did try *#*#4636#*#*-----Phone information several times, and maybe accidentally changed the SMSC, so I tried to put +447782000800 (three service centre number) in but every time it is "update error". Can anybody here help me out?? Thank you very much!
Same prob here

I did it 100 times , diffirent roms ... didnt help ..
I had the exact same problem and tried flashing several different ROMs on the phone, but it turns out the problem was that the message center number got deleted for some reason. On my phone the option wasn't grayed out and I was able to change it to the correct setting, which fixed my SMS-sending issue. Is your phone rooted?

OP you need a service centre .
Just a thought man who install multiple roms often lose EFS . Does your phone report its correct IMEI number .

ICS: Cannot receive SMS. Help!!!

My friend has a Moto Defy (red lens) running Quarx ICS 5-Mar build. He is unable to recieve messages but can send. Tried multiple SIMs but same problem. Please help; in case you need the SMSC number it is +919032055002
Did he try changing his radio/baseband/modem? Can he receive on GB?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
check APN ,make sure its correct and the baseband
It was working fine on Froyo and even ICS few days back (skipped GB). I will check the baseband setting but can only do it tomorrow now. Curious how would APN settings matter in regards to SMS.
Are you sure that number of SMS center is saved in the phone ?
i am having a similar problem [green lens defy]..i usually can send and receive text msgs..but if the phone is inactive for say 5-6 hrs, i stop receiving msgs..if i send some1 a msg after that then again i start receiving msgs..had this problem on GB as well [currently running ICS]..any idea why this is happening..??like the person who started this thread, even i am from india..
ps:i am on the correct baseband..
Issue resolved
My friend himself resolved the issue by downloading another messenger app! I don't know but it did get fixed Anyways, I have set his baseband to correct settings.
Same issue fixed
I had the same issue on ShoStock rom on my SGH-I777, Put my sim in another phone and was able to receive messages just fine, BUt when I had my Sim out, I did a simple reboot on my phone and then put the Sim back in and rebooted the phone again and everything works just fine. I am pretty sure it had something to do with the efs folder and the IMEI number because when the sms wouldn't work, I could not open the efs folder but after the reboot and the sms working I can open the folder and view the contents,

Defy plus smsc problem

Hello all,
I have a big problem with sending the sms. Now I have installed Quarx Defy/Defy+ builds for GB kernel 26.05 version, but also with 22.05 version still the same issue.
I already try with this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=979564 , put the smsc pdu number in the *#*#4636#*#* , i update it there, but still nothing, no sms send.
I also try gosms pro program, i enter the smsc number in the program adavanced setings but still not sending sms.
So until now I didn't find any solution for this problem.
My cell network is Vodafone Romania
Cell phone Defy 526 with CM9 Quarx 26.05 version
contact your provider. This happened to me once and they reset the connection. They did not have a clue how to access SMSC number was in android (lucky I did!) and they told me to enter in what I already had entered. rebooted the phone and it worked. I think it was the reset they done on there end as I tried the stock number and the PDU format and none worked. As soon as it got reset all was good again.
kelbygreen, Thank you, for your answer!
I contact the netwok support service and likewise they don't know nothing about android. When i ask them if I enter the stock number or the PDU format they send me to a Motorola service. I think they are brothers even is 15000km between us. So I take the problem in my hand and the solution was to pass from 26.05 Quarx version to 16.05 Epsylon version both CM9. Now it works OK. I don't konow if was a ROM problem or my instalation was bad.
So thak you again for help.

[Q] LOST SMSC after CM10.2 upgrade

I updated my I9300 to CM10.2. After I did, I was unable to send SMS messages.
My SMSC reads 00 when I hit refresh.
I looked on my wifes phone(which hasn't been updated yet) and hers says:
"+525512235100",145
So I tried entering that in mine and I get UPDATE ERROR.
So I tried entering just: +525512235100 but I get an update error.
So I used +525512235100 with the PDU Encoder to get 0791255521321500(the first 16 digits) and it took them, but I still get sending error when I try to send SMSes. I'm assuming because I don't know how to enter the ,145 into the pdu encoder, it's not going to work
Any Ideas?
Please post in the correct Q&A forum .
Try factory reset first

[Q] GT-i9505 problems when upgrading stock message app to S5 version

So I recently rooted my phone, and one of the things I wanted to do was upgrading my apps to the S5 versions. I decided to start out with the messaging app, and I must have done something wrong. Every 2 seconds a "Process com.android.phone has stopped" message and a "Messages has stopped" message comes up. My phone also loses and gets back signal every 3 seconds. If I try to turn on 3G it says I haven't insertet a SIM card, even though I have. I think I've deleted something I shouldn't have. Is there any way I can download the files I might have deleted, or do I have to flash my phone with the stock files? I can't find stock files for a Norwegian version, so this could be a problem. Any help is much appreciated!

Hi ,
Regarding Process com.android.phone has stopped usually that is a problem with gmail contact sync , delete the account and re install it again
Regarding the sim part , it only gives you that when selecting 3G with the rest of bands is ok??

I tried factory resetting my phone hoping it would fix my problem, and it didn't work. The message pops up as soon as I typed in my PIN code upon starting the phone again.
Not completely sure what you mean with "rest of bands", but if you mean calling and texting, calling someone gave me a "Mobile Network not available" message, and I can't text anyone since my Messaging app has been replaced with the S5 versions, which crashes on start.

Hi ,
If factory reset did not work try:
Settings /more/Application manager/all/contacts/clear data and cache
If the problem still persist do the same with contact storage
Is going to be hard as the message pops out all the time ..but is possible , if not you will have to reflash your rom
What rom you have stock or custom?
If you got the message Mobile Network not available it may be a problem with the efs folder ( do you have a back up??)
check from the phone pad dial *#06# what IMEI you get is the one you have under the battery??

I tried clearing data and cache in contacts and contact storage, and it didn't work.
I don't think I have a ROM, I used the TowelRoot app and installed the S5 taskbar and settings, but I don't think that counts as a ROM.
I don't have a backup of my efs folder, but I haven't touched it, so if that's the problem, it must have been changed when I tried installing the Messaging app.
I tried dialing *#06# but it just gave me the "Mobile network not available" message.
If I need to flash my phone with the stock files I have a problem. I couldn't find any files for Norway.
