Tried to flash a rom using TWRP and now I'm stuck on the Samsung Custom screen??? Seems like a soft brick. Need the phone to function......
Looks like you didn't flash the proper version of TWRP and flashed one for one of the other versions of the S4, 9500 or 9505 which have unlocked bootloaders. A special version of TWRP is made for the SGH-I337 because of its locked bootloader which contains the Loki exploit to allow it to boot.
Download Odin and the Stock Firmware, install USB drivers for phone, drivers are included in Samsung Kies or you can get them seperately
Put phone into Download mode
Restore stock firmware.
Use this to Root your phone and install the proper TWRP in one blow. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2297900
Use TWRP to flash any SGH-I337 Rom you want if thats what you were going to do, as long as it has the Loki patch. (Current CM10.1 does).

In need of assistance with 4.3 root

Hey there, I've recently made the purchase of a samsung galaxy S4 1337m
Once i got it home, the first thing i did was root it via Chainfires Root, and downloaded
rom manager, and installed CWM, and backed up my original OS with the original root
to a SD Card, once i did that I installed Odexed Andriod 4.3 for US and CAN, when i discovered
there was Chainsfire root guide for this version in particular, i tried to install it, what i did was attempt
to flash the latest root onto 4.3 via oden, after which i would flash the modded software to work for 4.3
however, in the process i ended up losing CWM, and the root all together, so i was wondering if anyone
was willing to lend me a hand getting the root onto my 4.3, so i can get my CWM back on.
Thanks!

I haven't used 4.3 but from what I've read I believe you just flash the .zip chainfire provided from recovery.
So now you will have to ODIN back to stock if you lost your recovery, re-root, install recovery (recommend TWRP instead), re-flash 4.3, flash the .zip provided from chainfire in his post here:

Do you know whether or not I'm able to re-flash with oden using the recovery created by CWM?
Or do i need to download the stock rom for my phone, which i imagine I would do a factory wipe
then boot into download mode then flash the stock rom?

The backup created from CWM should be a .zip that is flash-able only from recovery afaik. You will need your stock firmware .tar file and flash with ODIN. This is only if you surely cannot boot into recovery. If you manage to boot to CWM you can flash your backup of course.
Your STOCK firmware can be downloaded here:

[Q] Stuck in custom ROM with no recovery

Model: SGH-1337
Firmware: NC1
Version: 4.4.2
Hello all, like the noob i am i flashed a custom ROM using safe strap recovery and only after i installed the custom ROM did i discover that it was not comparable with my recovery software, now safe strap is gone and i can only recover to the stock recovery and i cant flash back to my stock ROM. i have been looking into using the software ODIN but i want to be sure that i am going in the right direction before i do something worse to my phone, any advice is most appreciated, thank you.
If safestrap is gone Odin is your only choice. You'll need to flash the nb1 tar file in Odin. Then ota to nc1 and start over with towel root and safestrap.
It's not that hard but Odin can be finicky so you might have to try different usb ports. Make sure they're 2.0 and not 3.0

[Q] Flash firmware from sammobile, Odin or custom Recovery?

Hi all, want to clean install a fresh stock rom as my note started to lag..
downloaded a stock rom from sammobile. http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-N910F/NEE/
i have a custom recovery([trltexx][N910F][CWM Advanced Edition] PhilZ Touch)
do I use Odin as stated by sammobile, or just use CWM?
Go to recovery wipe everything clean than go to dowload mode and flash via odin

thanks for your reply. i actually did that..
but are there any advantages over using ODIN instead of CWM when flashing like this?
upgrade problem
I updated the recent update via kies and was just rooted on stock rom. Now my phone will not fast charge and its a slow as hell charge. I verified the update removed root. I removed superSU and rebooted even though it said it was already gone when i had tried to launch. I am worried now my phone is messed up =(
If I am not mistaken, to flash via cwm you need a flashable zip. I am not sure if the stock rom downloaded from sammibile is a flashable zip

Can i use a twrp recovery for my s4 i9505? And it doesn't matter on which rom i am?
Find the version of twrp here that can be flashed via Odin: https://twrp.me/Devices/
Doesn't matter which rom you are using unless it is cm13 which is pre-rooted.

when the s4 is on it will be detected with no problem, but in download mode it wont be detected. i hate this rom so much
Did you download a stock GPE rom or one from the forum here?
As the stock GPE roms are the same as Samsung stock roms. Meaning that you lose root and custom recovery.
Anyway, have you tried installing SuperSU from the play store.
You can flash a recovery using flashify. But I guess this needs root. You also need the recovery.img to work.
cwm is the best for 505 try it it will be efficated
