[Q] Bootanimation Question - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone,
First a great big thanks to all of the people who built and maintain Encore 10.1.0. Encore has given life to my NC.
At some point in the development the Bootanimation was rotated from the vertical to the horizontal. How can I rotate it back to the vertical?
Since it was vertical on 10.0 I tried to replace the animation with one I extracted from the last daily (of 10.0) produced. It ran horizontally so it's not the actual animation file. I'm not advanced enough to figure out how to set it back to the vertical.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
V

I'd like to see this fixed, as well.
* My device powers on, the kernel splash is portrait.
* During boot, the the animation is sideways / landscape.
* My desktop loads, it is portrait.
* I go to change my wallpaper, it is sideways / landscape.
It seems things were randomly hard-coded to work sideways / landscape, for some reason.

Don't know if rotating the boot animation is possible without editing the images in the file itself. This post explains the reasoning behind the "rotated" animation if you are interested

I tried that but my zip file was ignored and I had no boot animation.

Two different background pictures

After flashing my X1, I just noticed that the original background is in fact 2 different pictures, one optimized for landscape and the other for portrait mode. How can you do this manually? Neither WM nor the Picture Viewer nor Resco Photo seem to provide such a functionality... Would be nice to know, because it's hard to find a picture that fits both modes and still looks nice...
If you're talking about the SE-Panels, here you go

I'm not I'm talking about the Today-"Panel".
if you're talkin about standard winmobile today you have no way to specify 2 different background In fact you will always have 1 image, with some parts showed or not depennding on screen orientation
If you're searching for a good theme maker I suggest you themegenCE
Exactly, landscape is showing only part of the picture which is used for portrait.
Incorrect
It is actually two seperate images.
On the today screen using the Xperia_black theme. I have in portrait Xperia written in the middle with thin spectral line vertically down.
On horizontal, Xperia is on bottom right, with wide horizontal spectrum.
Clearly two different images. So why is there not a way to do this manually, which is what the OP is getting at I think.
This can be done manually, I can't remember the exact names of the files but under the windows folder there are 2 files stwater_480x800.bmp stwater_800x480.bmp, if you replace these you can have 2 independent pictures.
When you change the today theme these files get replaced, I think there is some software available which will let you create a tsk with 2 pictures, but I just find it easier to replace the files.
That's what I've been thinking about. alias_neo, you're totally right.
So but now, assuming I find the files and replace them, the update will not happen directly, will it? Perhaps it would take a Softreset. Is there a workaround to go without Softreset?
My Xperia is bit weird, just a couple of days ago, I found out that when I change the background in Portrait mode,
only the Portrait background will change. Then I slide the keyboard out, and change the background again,
then only the Landscape background changes. And I must say, I like it
I think its a bug or something?
I have a solution for this: Use Resco Photo Viewer. You can set the background image in this program. Set in once in portrait mode, then switch to landscape mode and set it again. This produces 2 separate backgrounds. It works without any trouble. Changes rapidly on kb-slideout, no problem. Looks great, do it!

HTC Album rotate issue..... menu only displays in landscape mode.

Hey dudes,
im not sure if this has already been covered... but if it has, hopefully it will be a pretty simple fix.
so, using HTC Album on my HD2... when viewing the tiled thumbnail screen i can rotate my device and the menu/display adjusts accordingly between landscape and portrait. however, when i view an image and tap the screen i only get the image menu displayed in landscape mode.
i have attached an image (copied from this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=279268&d=1265816180) which shows my problem pretty clearly.
the image menu is displayed as shown, whether im in portrait or landscape mode.
im hoping there is a portrait version of the image menu, along the bottom of the portrait screen (im only asking because i had a ported version of HTC Album on my Omnia, and it had both portrait and landscape menus).
any help is greatly appreciated.
cheers.

[Q] Wallpaper not cropper in horizontal, after CM10.1 flashing

I have a following problem, after flashing cm-10.1-20130307-USBROM-tilapia (tested with ParanoidAndroid also with the same results):
When wallpaper is cropped and set it looks normal in portrait mode, but when the device is turned to landscape the is no scaling or cropping, and the always only the upper part is showing.
Tested with Quickpic, Image 2 Wallpaper, Wallpaper Wizardrii™. Tested different picture sizes and orginal wallpapers with the same result. When the wallpaper is cropped and set in landscape mode, the result is still the same.
Live wallpapers work normally, when turned to landscape there is that normal flicker when wallpaper is sized and fit to screen.
Example pictures attached. Will provide actaul screenshots when I get a hold of my Nexus.
I have tried the wipes and re-flashes, tested the USBROM and with ParanoidAndroid 3. I have not re-flashed to stock, but I assume it's working in there as it was.

Changing Trebuchet to Apex launcher solved the problem.

[Q] How to make a vertically movable splash screen for game

Hello everyone. I want to make a splash screen for my game. I need the image to fit the screen's width but I want the height to be larger than the screen's. Than, I will have an animation moving the image vertically, hiding the top part and showing the bottom one.
I have searched a lot and I am more puzzled now on how I should do this.
Firstly the only solution I found for the fitting part was a combination of java and xml. But the problem here is that the java class doesn't produce a bigger than the screen image, but a cropped image. So, I can't make the animation later on.
Than i figured out that I could use a scrollview. And after combining some solutions I found on the web, I managed to have the right dimensions for my image and avoid any cropping. But now I can't do the animation because I am using the "fromYDelta ... toYDelta" and I can't find a way to calculate how much to put in the "toYDelta" value. And it cannot be a fixed value because every screen is different and so the dimensions of my splash screen.
Can anyone tell me a way to do this? Should I do it only in java and don't use xml at all? Or is it possible to do this through xml only (which would be better I think)?

Animation on plugging in loading cable

Hi everyone!
Currently i am using a different look screen from the huawei themes. What i am missing is this nice circle animation when you plug in the usb cable to load your phone (the one where the background blurs and a ring/circle animation shows on the screen, showing the current battery status).
Can anyone tell me how to get this animation with a different lock screen? It looks like this only works with the magazine theme. I know it is nothing dramatic but i like the animation
You can't.
Really? There is no way to edit the lock screen in any way? I don't mind digging deeper and create an own theme for it. Want to learn about creating own themes for longer time.
Well, if not, this is sad, because i hate it that the clock on the magazine-lockscreen is at the bottom instead of top.
