My ICS L3 can't connect to 802.1x wifi on campus. It says "Connecting..." and then "Authentication error". Sometimes, it will also say "Saved. Secured with 802.1x".
I have read some threads on similar issues like
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1868754
but it's on jellybean.
Also there is a patch but also on jellybean as provided at the site
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=34212
Anyone else have this kind of problem on CM9 L3??? How to solve it???
Use static IP and manually fill IP address, gateway and DNS.

I have a brand new wireless router; BELKIN N1 VISION.
I have set the security for this router as followed:
- Security Mode: WPA/WPA2-Personal(PSK)
- Authentication: WPA-PSK +WPA2-PSK
- Encryption Technique: TKIP + AES
Unfortunately my Qtek 9100 (with WM5) does find my wireless connection, but it refuses to make a connection after input of the WPA-code.
I'd try setting the security to either WPA-PSK or WEP. Some older laptops and wireless cards have issues with WPA2 and that could be causing it. Anyways, I'm probably wrong, thought I'd just throw it out there.
or also that you have a MAC (Media Access Control) Binding enabled on he router as a security measure.
I had the same problem yesterday, figured it out by adding my Wizard in the Access Control Enabled list.
Then there was the problem of not connecting automatically which I fixed by enabing IEEE.
Did anyone get this fixed ? - I have also bought a Belkin N1 - not MAC Enabled, no security enabled (WAP et al) - I live on a farm so that's not an issue !. My Nokia N95 *M works well with this over WiFi however my K-Jam finds the Router but cannot connect, comes back as unavailable all the time. HELP PLEASE !!!
hey guess what
my ignorant ass has.. the same problem!
my linksys router (WRT54G) has both b and g broadcasting (mixed)
i use static ip addresses and i'm not seemingly capable of assigning a static ip address on the G3.. before i attempted to assign the IP on the wiz, it would draw the connecting icon and eventually come back with "unable to obtain ip address"
so i knew that i needed to assign the ip.. so i gave it my best shot (i was able to do this on the laptop) and now it doesn't complain about not getting an ip address, it just never stops drawing the connecting icon, never connects, and i'm (obviously) unable to connect to the net via wifi.
any ideas or help or will this be a thread that just slowly rots without one of the xda-developer gods stepping in and solving problems for us brainless members?
hey man if it was a Ford i'd fix it for ya..
Hi All, i got a problem here with my Dopod 818 pro, my company here are using Apple Air Port Extreme Wifi system, i manage to scan the Wifi hotspot but when i try to connect, i can't... It will trying to connect for about 3 minutes, after that a error message apper :"Pocket PC Networking - Unable to obtain a server-assigned IP address. Try again later or enter an IP address in Network setting." how to fix this problem ah? help me please...http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/icons/icon9.gif
Are you sure they're using DCHP? If they're using Static IP, you'll need to set up the IP by yourself.
Actually it may be an AES issue
The thing is that the apple airports are only compatible with AES encryption when using WPA/WPA2. they will not do TKIP. So if you have WPA/WPA2 encryption enabled on the router it will not connect without a compatible wifi setup on your device. (Im not sure which all work but i was able to connect, ironically, with the iprophet ROM) Try to find a rom with WPA2 support and make wure you are set to AES this will let you connect. Or you can (i dont recommend) disable the encryption on your airport device. Good luck hope this helps.
Hi everybody,
I have the same issue for a long time.
I connect to a wifi connection with DHCP enabled.
My Wifi connection works correctly, DHCP assigns my device an IP address but DNS stays empty in Wifi options.
I succeed connecting to a website if following these steps:
-I manually enter a DNS server IP.
-This stops the wifi connection
-I restart wifi
But then if I stop wifi and start it again, I cannot surf anymore.
I have to manually change DNS again (switch main and secondary DNS IP addresses)
Am I the only one to have the issue, or has someone heard of a solution ?
Any help welcome .
No one has an answer to the same problem I have too ....
No DNS if wifi is connected, on 3G it is all working fine ...
No one tests for DNS problems in cooked roms on this site ...
i would look into the settings of the wifi router to discover why it's not providing a valid dns
as it's normaly does when the wifi is set correctly
That certainly sounds like it could be the issue.
In case anyone is looking for quick and reliable DNS servers, try these 4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.4. I seem to remember they are AT&T's but please don't quote me on that.
First Let me say I have a working vpn router and I am experienced in networking.
I am running the stock rom /perm rooted with a modified kernel found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=941728&highlight=tun
So I have followed the instructions listed here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=883021
I know these were for the EVO but the seem to have worked... kinda, I can connect to my router and my router issues the IP address for my phone through the tunnel vpn tunnel, However I can not get data to pass through it. I can not access anything on the other end of the tunnel - any ideas?
After more research it seems like the phone is not updating the routing tables. Has anyone encouterd this problem?
Hello,
Today i've installed android on my HTC HD2, it works like a charm, except the WIFI. When i try to connect to my wireless network, it keeps saying: obtaining IP-address and nothing happens..
I've tried two different roms and three different radio firmwares without any succes...
Who knows what i can do to solve this problem?
Thanks!
Is your network set to use static IPs? I.E no dhcp server?
Or, is the network in ad hoc mode rather than infrastructure? Not 100%sure but seem to remember that causing issues.
the ip is dynamic i think. do i have to change it to static?
if the modem's security is WEP change it to WPA.

Click to collapse
No need, I was just suggesting a scenario where dhcp wasn't issuing IP addresses.
security is wpa-psk i think
