[Q] external SD as ext4 - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I was always using an ext4 SD Card in my phone. Since I installed a nightly of CyanogenMod this is not possible anymore. Whether with CM nor with Stock MF8.. It always says empty SD or unsupported format. It was recognized on Philz CWM before, as ext4 and as ExFAT. Now it doesnt work with both variants.
Only way the SD is working is with stock ROM as ExFAT
Is my SD broken? Is there a way to fix it?
Thanks in advance,
emxo

push. no one?

Nah it doest work beause its named sd_external, and all app2sd are searching for Sd_card which is the primary phone sd memory...
Have you partitioned your external sd card and formatted it with fat32 and ext3 or ext4?

[Q] 64Gb EXT4 SD card not recognized

Hi,
I've recently formated my SD card from NTFS to EXT4 format, since, neither my pc or phone can detect it or re-format it.
My Note 3 is running CM11, and i've heard it should support EX4 format but it doesn't, i'm actually trying different ROM's to try to detect my SD card but since i've started, none has worked.
do you guys have any clue to help me?
Check whether shows up in Device Manager in Windows. Never looks like a problem with ROM

It shouldn't be a Rom problem nor Kernel.
Something must be wrong with your sdCard.
Because my Note 3 N9005 detects exFat, Ntfs, Ufs, ext4 and few other format (*After Rooting*) hard drive without any issues.
I am on Stock kernel and Stock recovery.

Note 3 support Ext4 format for internal partitions only, not for the external sdcard.
Remove your card from the phone and insert it directly to the PC (via Card Reader/Adapter) to reformat it.
The problem is that the SD Card have always worked for now more than a year, using the ExFat FileSystem.
i can't reformat it because windows don't detect it since it's ext4 FileSystem and my linux or Gparted live don't detect it as well. i'm using an external card reader (cheap i recognize it) but it has always worked as well and still work with another SD card or PSP card.
have to say i feel pretty ****ed up since i had my SD card full and my internal memory too all the time :crying:
-------------------------------------
i'm actually using S5 base / Note 4 style Tweaked ROM DEODEXED and it has detected my SD card, the problem is that it is detected as a 0,00 octet card and it can't be formatted, tried the command format with terminal but it isn't available on android.
Hi just a little up so we can remember me after holydays :fingers-crossed:
Did you try changing the filesystem in TWRP recovery?

[Q] Why My Android Can’t Mount SD Card Formatted As EXT4 filesystem?

Hey For Backup Reason I Formatted My SD Card From exFAT to ext4
and for some reason android keeps telling me that my SD card is blank and sometimes damaged and it need to be formatted
after i execute auto format android return file system to exFAT
Isn't ext4 is supported by default because android is based on Linux?
I Use Custom Recovery (CWM Philz Touch v6.49.2)
Custom Rom (Turbo Lite v4.0 NK1) Custom Kernel For The Rom By The Same Developer
so any ideas?

[Q] cannot mount sd card on cm12

I am running cm12 nightlys and have just bought a new sd card,Samsung 32gb EVO, from ebuyer and it will not mount. Is it the rom? or do I have a problem with the phone hardware ie the sd card slot?
Hey if your sd card's file system is exFAT, try to format it to FAT32 and try again.
Hope it works

Recovery can't mount SD after marshmallow adoption

Guys please I need help. I am with an unofficial CM13 rom. Everything was fine until trying to flash Xposed I realized that my recovery can't mount the SD I have earlier formatted as internal. Wanted marshmallow so much especially because of that SD adoption. But didn't know that will make unable to use my custom recovery after that. Any suggestions?

You can always reformat your SD...
Formatting SD as internal in MM will cause that you can just use the SD Card on Android 6 as Internal. Recovery wont recognize, that its an SD Card. You could reformat SD as external again and than you should be able to use SD Card in recovery again. But I guess that shouldnt be a problem bec you can flash files from internal (which is also ur SD Card) too.
