[Q] Group text in GoSMS Pro - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Hi all, I flashed my rom with GoldenEye recently (which is a great, fast rom with terrific support!), but since then, I can't send group texts with GoSMS Pro. It worked before on the stock rom and it works from within the stock messaging app, but not GoSMS. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks... Josh

Facing the same issue. It worked fine on my s2 with gosms but now it sends it all desperate. I remember a setting somewhere that lets you keep messages together, have to dig through there for a solution.
Edit: spoke too soon. Settings>advanced>send options>group mms

Hey josh, I am having the same issue - I am currently on the GoldenEye ROM too, and group messaging on GO SMS no longer works for me. The stock messaging app works, but I was wondering if there's a fix to the GO SMS app (I prefer this because of their Emoji's). Unless anyone knows a keyboard app that allows for emoji's too? (I am currently using the Google Keyboard)
Edit - With the method Goliath mentioned, when I try sending a group message, it says "converting to MMS" and then gets stuck on the sending action. After about a minute, it gives me an "unable to send message" error. When I try sending a group message with this option disabled, it sends SMS messages to each recipient individually. The main problem is that my attempted group messages don't go through.

having you tried seeing if you can install the emoji pack in language settings? settings > language and input > google/android keyboard > add-on dictionaries > emoji for english words.
worked for me on aokp. that even allowed it work on swiftkey.

Hey beerdroid, thanks for the advice. I installed the emoji for english words language pack but don't know how to access it or pull it up (in GO SMS there's a plus sign to access emojis, but I don't have anything like this in my Google keyboard)
Do you know how I can find where this is installed?

try this. if you've installed the emoji pack then go into your stock sms and select menu > settings. scroll down and see if there is a "display" section. if so, mine has boxes that can be checked for "Emoji support" as well as "Quick emojis button". with these selected, emojis are supported and a button is implemented on the keyboard.

Dang i don't think my ROM (GoldenEye) has the Emoji Support or Quick Emojis Button options - let me try to flash AOKP to see if that works. Thanks very much for your help!

'Disable' HTC Message app?

Hey gang,
I've just installed Handcent and its very Awesome indeed so I want to make this my default SMS/MMS app.
My question:
How can I stop the HTC Message app from running in the background and, presumably, eating battery/CPU cycles.
I've turned off notifications for the HTC Message app so I only receive SMS notifications from Handcent but I want to kill the HTC Message app permanently. I should also say that I don't want to delete or 'un-install' it.
Thanks for any ideas,
E
BTW: Handcent is sweeeeet for those that haven't tried it. Big recommend!
get a task manager to stop any app you'd like.
The bug with the HTC messaging app was activated by sending a message through it. So if you haven't *sent* one through it since rebooting the device, it shouldn't eat hardly any resources.
I find that I get double notification sounds.
I'm sure although switched off, the HTC Messaenger is still sending the notification sound through.
Either that or Handcent is doing it twice :-(
You need to disable notification from the internal app. All Programs < Messages < Menu < Settings < Uncheck auto-retrieve & uncheck Notifications.
Thanks very much for this post
I came to ask the same question and you had already asked it. My problem is solved.
And yeah...Handcent is super sweet! \m/
Anyone know how to remove messaging from the phone permanently and just have handcent?

I know this is an old post but i figured i would update it with the answer for future searchbutton users

Ideas To Disable Default SMS App - Android
We're devleoping an SMS app for Android and are looking for ways to disable the default SMS app (all handset types).
Besides having the user manually disable notifications and auto-retrieve, any input on integrating and automating this with our SMS app or better ideas. Thank you.

[REQ]using default sms app

I've searched and searched but just can't find it, most threads don't have intuitive titles to help with the search so hopefully if we get a solution this will help others.
My request is pretty simple (I hope anyway), the HTC Sense SMS app sucks. It's slow, slow and slow; plus the text is tooooooo small for comfortable viewing/ reading outdoors. Is there anyway to switch to the default windows SMS app without flashing a custom ROM.
I haven't sold my [email protected] yet and this might jst be the deal breaker for me. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Go to your messages menu (from the all messages view) and tap menu/options/traditional mode.
You can get the WM client by searching for and downloading the "Zenyee Messaging cab". But I can't guarantee everything working perfectly (I think I had trouble with MMS using the Zenyee cab).
For me, if I have a ROM cooked with standard windows messaging and I apply that cab to use the HTC messaging, it breaks MMS. If I have a ROM with HTC messaging as default, applying the cab to use the standard windows messaging breaks MMS. I cannot win.
Thanks for all the feedback guys!

Just for your reference "traditional mode"; means its threaded. It doesn't change the app.

How do i send msgs in korean??

hi all. Well, i have this problem, i cant send messages in korean :s
i can receive from any phone, but cant send... when i write something and click send, it just dissapears. If i send korean and english, it only sends the english words and no korean at all.
Could anyone help me?
I just tried sending a message in korean and it worked. I'm not sure if there's something wrong with your phone. I am using ATT on firmware 1.83 with GingerBlur 3.0 and Smart Keyboard pro.
Mmm... i still cant find why is this happening.
Before the atrix i had a defy and it sended korean. It is really weird, it just dissapears...

Maybe reflash/update your firmware? I also tried sending a message with both korean and english and it also worked.
try using a third-party txt messaging app from the marketplace like GO-SMS or Handscent.. the native txt app isnt capable of sending (they can receive however) uni-code txts so languages like chinese and some other east asian ones don't work.. this might be the same case for korean.. hope this helps
what you need
a rooted Atrix
root explorer & sqlite editor (get them from android market)
1. go to /data/data/com.motorola.android.providers.settings/database
2. open "settings.db" with sqlite editor
3. enter "settings" and find the _id 105 named "sms_force_7bit_encoding"
4. change the value "1" to "0"
5. Save. remember to set the permissions of settings.db (user/group/others)
6. reboot & enjoy
Don't forget to backup your original settings.db before start
Download Handcent SMS from market will definitely solve your problem.

[Q] Quick Question for Anyone

Hello everyone, I recently got a new Mytouch 4g because my last one was faulty, but I can't seem to do something I was able to do with the last one. How do you set up the text message previews on the lockscreen? Trust me, I've went to the message settings and checked display preview but it still will not work. I'm using gosms pro, Do I need to delete anything that might be preventing it? Or does this seem life a software problem and I need to send back to T-mobile?
THANK YOU for any answers possible,
Justin
Are you talking about the pop up window? It is in go sms settings> notifications> enable pop up windows....there are servings for the window right below that...
When you say you went into "Message settings"... do you mean the stock message settings or the settings in GoSMS? If I were to guess, going into stock message settings wouldn't affect anything if you have GoSMS set as the default messaging client.
I'm talking about when you get a text message and the message preview displays on the lockscreen. How do you do that?
It would be a setting inside gosms if it is possible. Stock settings wouldn't change anything if you're not using it.

[ISSUE][TW 4.3] Incomplete Emojis & Entering an Emoji Converts to MMS

In the 4.3 update, we got emojis in keyboard. Well it came along with some issues.
One issue is that Some Emojis are missing, okay that's tolerable.
Second issue which annoys me, is that when I enter an emoji in SMS, it converts it to MMS! Whereas I can send Emojis via SMS through Hangouts. (I'd have used hangouts as SMS app but it is still incomplete at this stage)
Also I remember that I could send Emojis from CM10 as SMS which I installed on my older device, Xperia ray.
Same issue here. Don't particularly want to pay for am mms everytime I use an emoji ?
