I rooted my nexus 4 on 4.2 with no problems.
I then upgraded to 4.2.2 while temporary unrooting with voodoo OTA rootkeeper then restored root and everything worked ok.
Now recently my Nexus 4 does not show up anywhere on my laptop but charges ok.
I have downloaded the latest toolkit V2.0.0 and installed the drivers (option 1) and it says they install.
In device manager I have an exclamation mark next to both google nexus 4 ADB interface and also both BootLoader Interface tabs.
Im totally stuck and dont know what to do.
Usb debugging is on, MTP is checked
If i do a factory reset on my phone, will it take it back to 4.2 unrooted like when i bought it and give me no problems?
I would be grateful for any help
Doing factory reset doesn't erase root.

Even I had similar problem in my N4.
Try re-installing the drivers of N4. :good:
I also did that when my phone stops recognizing after flashing rom.
I have tried this but its still not working.
Can I roll back to 4.2 without connecting to PC?

Hello Everyone,
Need a big help.
I Have a Nexus 7 Wifi+Mobile
Had a stock installed version 4.2.2 JDQ39 - bootloader unlocked and rooted. [using the Nexus root toolkit]
Wanted to update it .... so whenever the OTA update gets downloaded I used to try to update it but it would always fail [ on 50% update error occurs with android laid back with red triangle ! ]
So this time tried by using the Nexus Root Toolkit. downloaded the 4.3 Stock rom from google
Using the 'Flash Stock + Unlock' but it didn't went well and when it got rebooted showed the screen 'no OS Installed'
I tried everything on the bootloader screen to restore the android file [that i backed up at the start ]
Then I downloaded the original 4.2.2 JDQ39
Installed it using the 'Flash Stock + Unlock' with 'Soft Brick/Bootloop', that also didn't work as it fired some missing CDOP or something.
Then tried doing the same by enabling the option of 'Force Flash' yes it installed well and booted too till the start screen.
Now the real bewildering behavior .....
1. Select Language - Selected English (united Kingdom)
2. Select Wi-Fi - Frozen saying 'Turning on Wi-Fi' [I have a good wifi connection and using that on my SGS2]
I waited for about 2 hours and on still the same screen. [find te frozen screen in the attachment]
Please help ........
Same here,
I only have installed twrp and this 4.2.2 rooted
i can't pass wifi activation and turn on debugging.
What do you think about copying 4.4 stock rom from pendrive to nexus using USB-OTG in twrp recovery?
Thx
I'm having this same exact issue on GNex Toro. It all started after I replaced the USB port. I replaced it just fine. Nothing broke, tore etc. By the grace of God I was able to restore a PA 3.99 backup and keep my phone active while using the Nexus toolkit to return to stock and unroot. But still encountering this same issue now - can't pass the select WiFi screen.

nexus 4 (factory reseted )
Hi. I root a lot of different devices and have rooted an unrooted nexus 4's multiple times. A few weeks ago I had a nexus 4 with a broken screen, so I ordered a new one and fixed it. However the device was bootlooping so I restored it using a toolkit. The phone randomly started bootlooping again today. I've tried restoring it with Nexus Root Toolkit, NCRY, ResoreME and manually wit adb commands. However it's still bootlooping. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to fix it?
Flash the factory image with fastboot. Skip the tool kits. After flashing boot into the stock recovery and do a factory reset.

I recently got 5.1 update on my nexus 4. But after the update I am experiencing boot loop issue on my phone. This is a stock image and un-rooted phone which is out of warranty.
The phone was stuck in a 'Starting apps' message after the 'optimizing apps' for close to 3 hours. I rebooted the phone and was able to boot into 5.1 once.
I could not get a network and I restarted my phone. Since then, I have never been able to complete the full boot even once.
It either gets stuck in the animation of the 4 balls moving, or the 'optimizing apps' stage or the 'starting apps stage'.
I searched the internet and tried some solutions given by people who were facing a similar issue. But nothing seems to be working for me.
Solutions tried:
1) I rebooted into recovery mode and wiped the cache multiple times.
2) I rebooted into recovery mode and did a factory reset hoping that some apps which was causing issue optimizing/starting would be deleted.
3) I flashed a 5.1 as well as 5.0.1, 4.4.4 image using the NRT in the 'Soft-brick' mode. I faced the same issue with the loop. I can't get a adb connection to work since the developer options is not enabled I believe.
I cannot even find out which app is causing the issue as well since I don't get any logs during the boot. But I thought a factory reset should handle this problem.
I have already lost data since I didnt have a full backup. At this point, I just want to get my nexus back.
Please Help!!!
Ican understand how you must feel It looks like you have done everything. The only suggestion I can make that might help is seek out the SkipSoft Android Tool Kit. It will allow you to restore your nexus so check it out

I hope that helps you... I have used it successfully many time.
Thanks for your reply.
Is there any particular option on the toolkit I should be using to restore my Nexus? Or I should just try re-flashing stock firmware using the mentioned tool kit?

I would plug your Nexus 4 in via USB port
Select your device type Nexus 4 option 02
Then go to the next step and select the build number that you want to start

Hello,
Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere - I've searched extensively and can't find the answer.
My 2012 Nexus 7 wifi has been rooted and unlocked and I have played about with various OS's such as CyanoGenMod to try to get it to run smoothly without lag. The last one I tried was a fairly standard build of 7 (I Think), but after 18 months or so it slowed enough that I decided to take the nuclear option of reverting back to 4.4.4.
I downloaded a build of 4.4.4 called omni on my mac, transferred it to the Nexus 7 via USB and also included a package of Gapps.
When I'd flashed from clockworkmod the system kept rebooting, wouldn't let me turn on wifi and wouldn't show up when connected to the mac. I downloaded a factory 4.4.4. image but couldn't transfer this to the Nexus, so had to install and use ADB. I installed ADB via homebrew, which works, but I can't find the installation folder by browsing to it.
I got the Nexus 7 to reboot, but couldn't transfer the new stock image (nikasi) across. Now the Nexus 7 won't boot into recovery mode - I get a message saying that the boot failed.
All the guides I've read have advised me to reinstall the rootkit using a software package for windows (which I don't have) or to enable USB debugging on the device, which I can't access.
Any ideas? There's nothing urgent about this - I don't need the Nexus 7 for work or anything, but I would like it to work. It was great when I first got it, but lollipop ruined it and it's never been satisfactory since
Thanks
