SmartFaceService Wakelock - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Hello all, so I've done some Google searching to see what is causing this awful Wakelock on my device and I can't figure it out. Asking help from you all. It's called "SmartFaceService" and basically is responsible for my battery draining 40% while I was asleep. Picture is attached. Any ideas?
Running iB4STiD MDB ROM with Ktoonz kernel

All smart screen features. sucks we can't use it without it draining the battery

could autokill on screen off

Just as an update, I installed the factory image and did a firmware initialization on kies and the wakelock hasn't been a problem. Not sure what to make of that but - I didn't know how else to deal with it since it was destroying my battery life

keep the screen on if you look at the phone: smart face

Battery Problem

Hi guys, recently my battery drains so fast, I'm rooted and using stock rom. Wanted to know if I flash a rom like Paranoid will it get improved?
tnx
There are so many threads of this exact question already.
You probably have a bad app(s) that is constantly waking up your device which prevents it from sleeping. Or you may have a wakelock that is on most of the time that is causing the drain.
I suggest you download these two apps that can help you find the cause and fix them.
First app is called "Wake lock detector" and the second is "Greenify". Wakelock detector will help you find that app is on constantly when you have not used it during your usage. Finally you can use "Greenify" to hibernate the app so it won't wake up your device causing it to drain your battery power.
Installing a custom rom or kernel may or may not help if the issue lies in the apps or wakelocks. Roms does not affect the battery a lot. A custom kernel contributes to the performance, battery friendly, smoothness and extra features. A ROM is just a outer shell, the kernel does all the work.

LGE Gravity Sensor Battery Drain - Any fix?

Hey all,
I've done some searching around and haven't been able to find a solution for this. The LGE Gravity Sensor (which is related to Knock On) has been causing my Android OS to stay awake and cause battery drain. I attempted to Greenify doubletab and Knock On still worked, but it didn't fix the battery drain. I turned off Knock On and it went away immediately so I know that is the problem.
Has anyone found a way or know a way to keep this from draining battery but still keep Knock On functionality?
If I compare battery between having Knock On active or disabled, it's not doing that much to the battery. But in the battery stats it looks much different as with Knock On disabled, your display will take the top spot and not Android OS anymore.

1 install Android Assistant, search for it on Google play
2 check what apps are using the most Cpu time
3 decide what you need and what you can uninstall (careful).
Mind you, some apps may not appear in the list and be often using cpu time anyway.
In addition, try the app 'Greenify', it can help a lot in saving cpu time and energy, if you learn how to.use it.
Also (only for rooted devices) use Autorun manager or a similar app to select apps you want to prevent from starting at boot.
Hi
I will try tht thanks.
When i look with gsam the android(os kernel) is at 82%!
i think that causes the battery drain right now but dont know how to fix it

I had this same issue. Mine was overheating when i used any app and sucking up battery life like crazy. Yesterday I did a factory reset, reloaded my apps, and installed the latest firmware update (NF6). So far everything seems to be back to normal. No more overheating and no extreme battery use/drain.
oh ok.
I only have the battery drain but no overheating yet
But isnt it to quick to putt it back in factory reset since i only have it for like 3 days

Hi,
did you try another battery?
Did you do something special like flashing custom rom or whatever? Or did this happen without any reason from on day to the other?

S4-i337 battery drain via Android OS

Hi there, for the last week or so, with no new apps being downloaded prior to issue, I have noticed a significant battery drain by Android OS (39%) and inside it showed incredible Keep awake time of 16h 50m (though the phone screen is off). For reference, the screen time (25% battery usage) so far is 1h 31m. I have installed and given root access to GSam Battery Monitor (its root companion is activated too). The program indicates that Kernal (Android OS) is taking up my space but I was hoping instead it would be able to give the direct app that is eating up my battery. I have tried restarting it twice and after letting the battery run off completely and fully charging it before turning it back on.... no dice.
S4 - SGH-i337M (jfltecan/jflte)... verified root... Android 4.4.2
SlimROM-4.4.2.build.4-OFFICIAL-3650
Build number: slim_jfltecan-userdebug 4.4.2 KVT49L 3650 test-keys
Kernal: 3.4.82-KT-SGS4-gb0a91ad
Recovery is via TWRP
I know there may be suggestions to turn off GPS, WiFi, etc, etc... but I'd rather not do that due to the fact the phone life was absolutely fine w/ them on... I'd like to fix the root of the problem instead of working around it. I haven't made any changes to phone settings for a month. Reformat is a last resort but want to exhaust options prior to.
Any help appreciated, thanks.
It seems that the only way to have figured it out is by disabling individual apps and see if there is any improvement in battery life and drop in Android OS wake time and battery use.... After checking the 4th app of possibility, it seems like KiK was the culprit. Just going to remove the app as I haven't used it much. Maybe an update for the app occurred causing this to happen. One work around for those who want to keep the app that's causing the issue and minimize the battery drain, you could just go to the app's system settings and do a Force Stop and the program will be off and then turn the app back on whenever you need it and then turn it off again via Force Stop. It's a app issue, not anything you can really do about it except downgrade or uninstall the app.
