Wrong section mate. Should be in troubleshooting.
Uninstalling the apps and reinstalling them should do the trick.
sounds like the issue is your location

yea i think the same. So u got any idea how to enable them. I grabbed the apk of wallet, earth, and play magazines from system and copied it to my sd card and installed them like normal. Now they show up in my app drawer but the same method does not work for google ears and sound recorder, they say installation failed. any bright ideas mate?

I've rooted my Nexus 7, and I wanted to know if anyone has a list of Apps that I can safely remove from it. For example, can I remove Google Currents, Google +, Messenger+, Play Magazines, Play Movies and TV, and Google Talk using SysApp Remover? I know having google apps installed instead of the Cellular Bloatware is a blessing, but I'd like to have this thing as clear as possible. Thanks ahead of time!
I removed all of them, nothing bad happend and i think nothing will happen to you, since those apps don't have any influence on your device system it should be fine.
In addition to the ones you listed you can safely remove: bubbles, downloads (you'll want a replacement file manager app), keychain, live wallpaper picker, phase beam, setup wizard, tags, email, email exchange, Google Korean keyboard, Google pinyin, wallet, if using a different launcher can also remove launcher. There's a few others you should be able to remove safely but I'm only listing ones I know for certain that won't affect functionality.

Thanks for the reply. I don't mind Phase and such, nor Live Wallpaper picker, but I definitely wanted to get rid of Currents and such. Thanks!
Root
If you are rooted you can remove what you want.....
Can somebody tell us the locations in the system folders where we can find the apps?
I´ve got the same "Problem". I´ve rooted my Nexus 7 and want to remove the unnecessary apps, e.g. Currents, Google+, Talk, Messenger, and so on.
I don´t want to erase some important or usefull things.
/system/app/
You can access it by allowing the 'up to root ' setting in es file exp
Cheers Danny
Don't forget to install a launcher before removing the stock launcher.

Excellent advice.....been there
So I upgraded to Google Play v4.3.11 a week ago, BUT I keep getting bad Google Play Services drain with it. On v4.2.9 I get little to no Google Play Services drain (only 5%-7%; verses 30+% with v4.3.11). Whenever I try and push the v4.2.9 apk it works, until I reboot my phone and it goes back to v4.3.11 for some reason. Can anyone help me out? Thanks!
That's because Google play updates itself. And as far as I know there is no way to stop it from upgrading

I've heard this a lot, and from what I've heard/seen, there are a few solutions:
Clear the data for the google framework, the google play store and the google play services.
Log out and then back into your google account.
Clear cache if you need too.

Well when the update came in, it's was stored to data/app
Have you tried deleting the APK from data/app, then MO ing your old Playstore to system/app, then setting permissions rw-r-r?
I've yet to see This battery drain personally, but I've heard much about it. Sounds like a *****. Lemme know if you've tried that method. I csn always make a flashable for you, that will delete the new in data/app, then flash the new apk to system/app and set permissions

Well I tried it. Lets pray it doesn't auto update itself without even telling me like it's been doing -___-
So I just finished copying my ~40GB of music to the SD card, with plans to use Samsung's stock Music app for listening to local music. I got on the train this morning, and the app was missing! I disabled some things in Package Disabler Pro over the past week with the phone, but never Music or anything else similar. It doesn't show at all on the phone now.
Also, while trying to test Root Explorer's issue with writing to our SD card, I found it to be missing from my app drawer (Nova), but showing up if I search for it. I haven't hidden the app at all, and even more, it doesn't show under TouchWiz or Google Now Launcher either.
I think my phone is possessed.

I haven't removed anything on my phone and I have not had the Samsung Music player from day one. Root Explorer shows up fine in my app drawer but as we know, it isn't working correctly and crashes when trying to grant permissions.
As stated, Samsung Music is available to download from the Samsung apps store, I just downloaded it to test and see it in the app drawer now.

Then I am even more confused. I even opened it to test my BT headphones, but now it's gone.
You have to go into Galaxy Apps and download. It's one of the things Samsung did to lean out the apps. Some of the apps people are used to see and possibly use can be gotten there.
Music app was never there initially. I installed it from Galaxy Apps. I heard that video player is also "missing".
Yeah, I didn't have it either. Freaked me out because I don't like using other music players. I was about to freak out until I searched it in Galaxy apps
I wasnt entirely sure of where exactly i should put this, the dev board would probably be a better choice, but i digress.
Uninstalling the Chrome app through Titanium Backup(and im sure through any other method) causes some apps such as kik messenger and snapchat to be ENTIRELY unusable. They will instantly crash upon opening conversations. I am unsure as to why this happens but i figured it would be useful information for someone else eventually.
EDIT: Doing this also causes battery to go from 100% to 0 in about four hours
Can I ask why uninstall chrome then? Just don't use it or hide it from your app drawer. A lot easier than trying to figure out the issues caused by removing it. It would be the same thing

You need to enable Android/Google WebView (I can't remember the name) in the app settings/play store and go into the developer settings and set the WebView to the new one you enabled. I sadly learned this the hard way like you.

That's weird. Is it greyed out in the play store too or just in settings? If it is try going into Titanium Backup and unfreeze(?) it there. If that doesn't work uninstall it like you did with chrome and download it from the play store.

Huh it was low level frozen on the system, defrost through titanium backup doesn't seem to do anything which now raises the question: how and why is that done?
Gonna try uninstalling it and installing through play again.

Play store said Enable(the button was seemingly unresponsive until i clicked it abt 15 times in a row) clicking it causes a 44mb download then it says install which causes a 44mb download and changes it back to a completely unresponsive enable. switching over to settings now only shows a greyed out uninstall and force stop
You're free to do what you want of course, but ripping one of the central tie points out a Google phone is not what I wold call a good idea. Easy to run a different browser if that's your preference without destroying the integrity of the base software.

Before finding this problem it was unknown to me and im sure several others that chrome was an integral part of the rom.The point of this thread was really to find out what this is and if there is a way around it. its for experimentation purposes as it is honestly incredibly easy to fix, ive done it 4 times.
Not sure why you're having trouble. I uninstalled Chrome with Titanium Backup and after rebooting AOSP WebView was unfrozen and active automatically.

You can try to follow such steps:
Open Task Manager. Find Google Chrome in it.
Click on Chrome and look through the pull-down menu. Verify that all the processes are chosen.
Right-click on Google Chrome and choose the option “End Task”.
Check the “Processes tab" and make sure that there are no leftover processes. If there are any, you need to stop them by right-clicking on them and choosing the option “End task”.
Close Task Manager.
Open a “Run window”. To do this, you need to press “Windows Key+R”.
You need to type here “appwiz.cpl” and press Enter. You’ll open “Program and Features”.
Here, you need to scroll down the list and choose Google Chrome.
Right-click on it and press “Uninstall”.
Also, you can check this link rocketfiles.comto read more options

Bro we're talking about a phone here...
soo..I just got an unusual notification on my 2019 fire hd10...that the play services wont run until updated? I didn't catch the entire message.
I went into the play store and the notification disappeared.
help?
I had the same thing. I cleared the notification and so far it hasn't appeared again. Everything still works.
Others have reported it, and the popular theory is that it's a harmless bug in the latest version of Google Play Services.

-amused snort- technology, aint it wonderful?
Playstore is not a trusted app
Always make installable copies of all your apps and current updates. The less Playstore the better... it never runs on my 10+ unless I need it.

word.
....currently getting groomed by my cat, apparently I need it?
anywho..got the notification AGAIN today, and this time I was actually able to initiate an update.
fortuitous given my tablet just updated the OS today.
I'm seeing this as well on my Fire HD 8 (2020), and it's very concerning.
I've also uninstalled Google Play Services and reinstalled the latest version of Google Play Services from APKStore (you cannot do an in-place upgrade, there's only a "deactivate" button which doesn't work).
The error goes away temporarily, but eventually returns a week or so later.
And we're not alone -- hundreds of complaints on this issue in the Reviews section of Google Play Services on the Google Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.gms&hl=en_US&gl=US
Is this just a temporary bug? Or is it an indication that the little "secret" of sideloading Google Play Store is over, at least if you want to use your Fire to play games requiring Google Play? Wonder if Google and Amazon are finally saying "no more?" I hope not.
...I think the fact most of us are running the play store in manual update only mode is the problem. it cant auto update the play services, and thus coughs up this error?

Playstore will let you know when you go to Playstore if it needs updating. I've package block and run Playwhore on manual update only for over 1.5 years with no problem.
All it's parent apps need to be running at boot up ie Google play Services. You may need to delete and recreate your Google account if it really goes off the rails. Reboot, reboot, reboot...

it was a thought, that said after I was FINALLY presented the option to update the service its not done it again.
also..I've owned FOUR samsung tablets over the years and every single last one of them, without fail, whenever playstore has had an update, I've had to manually initiate the update, it patently REFUSES to do so on its own, and thats AFTER running every troubleshooting known to man AND consulting samsung support.
its an android thing apparently ^^;

I rarely use Playstore. Updates there are set to wifi only, and wifi is always disabled.
Samsung tech support is useless.
Try googling the error codes.
I use ApkExport to make installable copies of my apps so on a reload no Playstore needed.
You can also use those copies to load other devices... if you want.
I was able to go into the play store and tap on 'update' on the play services.
-shrugs- it worked, thats all I cared about.
Play Store is telling me 21.30.16 is the latest version of Google Play Services and I'm up to date. APK Mirror is showing newer versions, though. Weird.
