Hello guys,
I'm new to this site so 'Hello Everybody'
I discovered a very annoying thing in my phone's Gallery.Every photo taken or already toke is unclear,blurry.When i click on the photos to enlarge it becomes sharp and clear,everything fine,but as long as i overview the photos all of them are blurry.Even photos taken with another Camera program. I attach 3 Screenshots to show what i exactly talking about.
Please help me guys
They're just thumbnails. As long as the pictures show correctly when you view the full picture, it's perfectly normal.
Oh, and for the next time, ask questions in the Q&A forum. It's there for a reason, you know.

But anyway this can be caused because of the os? Bug or somethin? Is there any chance the new 4.2.2 update fixes this? because i had a G note before the S3 and i didnt met this blurry thumbnail thing?
i just checked my gallery and my thumbnails are almost as clear as the enlarged pic,. know this sounds dumb but have you tried setting another system font

You mean Settings/Display/Font Style? If you mean this yes i've changed it to Choco cooky,but i changed back to default and no change.
Btw i have downloaded QuickPick from Google store and the thumbnails are clear.I don't understand this..

Use a file explorer that can show hidden files, then go to sdcard/DCIM/ and delete the .thumbnails folder... reboot, then open the gallery - the thumbnails will then all be rebuilt. Might take a while depending on how many photos you have.
Then see if they're still blurry!

Done. I have deleted every hidden thumbnail file from the phone and restarted it.No change.I had only 4 photos btw.But if i take a photo with the camera is still blurry in the phone Gallery.

What ROM you using? Have you installed any gallery mods (like maybe the one from the S4 apps)?
Try cleaning your camera lens, lol.

No i did not installed gallery mods,the phone is 1gb version.

Little bit stumped now, sorry. Maybe back up apps etc with TB and factory reset?

On this week i rooted the phone with odin for avast anti thieft then i reinstalled the stock 4.1.2 with Kies.Device status is normal.Can this cause the problem?Personally i don't think this maneuver can affect the Gallery thumbnails,but i'm far away from a phone expert.

Problem resolved . I have been unrooted the phone. Now it's back to stock firmware with valid warranty. Blurry images has been disappeared from the Gallery. Thanks for the replys anyway

I'm using the latest cm 10.2 nightly and every time I take a picture, it is displayed as a grey thumbnail in gallery. So it doesn't really save it properly...
Anyone have a similar issue?

That is just because you don't tap on the screen(focus the image).
Before clicking the picture just tap once and then click the picture. Problem solved..

nope, unfortunately that is not the case here. the image is focused and still all I've got is the grey thumbnail in gallery

try clear data of camera app and gallery...
also check other camera application if its have the same issue

Just tried the same with the latest carbon nightly...the same issue. Also took some photos with focal, which had the same result
any ideas what might be the problem? I just did a factory reset to install carbon

tried it with the provided cm and carbon kernel, as well as francos kernel. also, if I try to take a video the gallery immediately force closes
its a nightly. nightlies break thing a lot. if you want to run something more stable, grab a cm stable build. otherwise, use a different working rom.

I had the same problem a couple of months back. Problem was with the DCIM folder where the pictures get saved. Deleted DCIM with file manager in TWRP recovery and the camera started working.

Tried the same last night, and it really was the solution to all my problems. But I have absolutely no idea why this folder creates so much problems
Hi I deleted the stock android photo gallery app because it was annoying me with repeated sign in attempts to picassa.
However now i can't attach photos to a text message or review a photo i just took when in camera.
How can I reinstall the factory photo gallery for the Samsung s5?

are you talking about Touchwiz camera or AOSP camera? The picasa sign in notifications are from Google+ app, remove/freeze that.
It was the stock photo gallery app with the Samsung S5 SM G900 FD.
It's just called photo gallery. I erased it and replaced it with a different photo app. Now i lost some functions like attaching photos from a text. I need to know how to reinstall it?
Any ideas?

Correct me if I'm wrong but what you're saying is that you have not flashed any custom roms, haven't rooted and yet managed to delete the stock gallery app?
If that is correct go to settings>apps>app manager find your new photo app and click reset/delete defaults
I did root the phone which is why i was able to delete the stock photo app

Ok. Download stock rom, extract camera app from there. If you have CWM/TWRP backups extract camera app from them with winrar or your favourite archiver. It should also work if you download any touchwiz based rom and extract the camera app from there.:good:

I didn't back it up with cwm because i was so annoyed by the constant sign in attempts that i thought there's no way i would ever want it back lol! I'm pretty new to this whole thing of tampering with system files and definitely not a guy who knows much about computers so as much info as possible is very much appreciated! !

That sign in prompt is Google+ afaik not camera app. Anyway here's a link to a touchwiz rom for your phone, download it and extract the camera/gallery/photo app from there. Next time remember to always make a backup in recovery, you never know when you might need it :silly: :good:

Strange thing i extracted the system rom from that link you gave me. I can't find the photo gallery app anywhere in it. Can find everything else but that, any ideas where it might be hiding?

OK I found it, it worked, everything back to normal! I used the search tool and it came right up. Thanks again for the help, it sure is interesting to play around with these gadgets! Amazing to see the sheer volume of information that goes into programming one of these things when you actually get to physically see the programming. A world few people will ever get to see.

It doesn't matter where I'm saving: to sd card or internal memory. It always take long sconds to open my last photo right after the shot.
Am I the only one?

It's the poorly optimised gallery app. When I rooted and changed the default gallery app to Quickpic it loads instantly.

Yeah it was because the stock gallery app of our device is too slow to respond. You can root your device and try something better or wait for the lollipop and hope for a change.

Unfortunately yes. There's an Xposed module which simply let's you select an alternate app to view images from the camera.
If you are constantly clearing apps or restarting the phone, this issue persists. But once the camera and the gallery shortcut from the camera has loaded into memory, every time you click to preview the picture afterwards, it comes up straight away.

every samsung with TW suffers from this issue..my s4, my old s2, it takes 2-3 seconds to open the gallery, i solved it by installing xposed and keeping the galley app in the memory, it reduces the delay...
Hi to all.
I have recently installed on my I9505 the Thor s7 style rom with patch v2 and
when i try to shoot a video on any resolution it work's BUT when i go to gallery
instad of video image it show's a grey icon with this ! sorry my english is not that good
and the video play's normaly it's just if you shoot many videos in one day you won't know wich video is what..
Please anyone know something about this?

Your two options are: Get another gallery app, from the play store, or get another ROM.
Possibly another camera app, some come with their own galleries.

After open 6 update, I notice that photos looks worse than in open 5 and some functions like hdr are not working. Is the camera service not working?

Wait for the open 7. Sad but true. I tried everything that you can imagine. The only way that I fixed this, was installing the oneplus camera mod. The problem seems to be with the new camera app or camera service. The stranger thing is that I only saw you and another guy complayning about this.
Did you both clean installed Open Beta 6? Cleaned cache?
Sorry if this seems trivial but to have the same common ground it would be helpful to know this.

Sure. The problem is with latest camera app (2.5.25). I uninstalled it and installed the 2.5.23 from open 5, and everything is working now. The problem with 2.5.25, is when you take a picture and see it from the gallery shortcut on camera app, the post processing will not working, but if you go into gallery app, the post processing will be realized.

I am asking because i am using OB6 and i cant reproduce this misbehavior. It is working as it should and if this would be a reproducible problem, the OP forums would be filled with this i guess.

But, here is not working as should be. If I take a picture and try to see it directly from gallery shortcut on camera app, the pictures will be with much noise and hdr and hq will not be applied. But, if I go into gallery, the pictures will looks great and hdr and hq will be applied.
