What picture do I've to change if I want another background in the newer Xperia apps (2012/2013)? Is it a combination of two images? I searched in framework-res.apk but couldn't find it. It looks like carbon fibre.
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B2BjC2gRHSTnamxaZGhlX2tSTzA/edit?usp=sharing
I use the Settings.apk from Alex_rac and the framework from jader13254.
Well being that its jaders version of my framework I'll help you.
The background image is in framework-res.apk under semc_bg_tile.png. There's an XML in res/drawable called semc_bg which makes the image tile endlessly, so you'll have to find an image that tiles.
Or, if you want to use a rectangular image (480x854), delete the xml and replace the image in drawable-hdpi but name the image semc_bg. You'll have to delete the reference to semc_bg_tile.png in public.xml if you do this (second) method. You'll also have to make a landscape version of the image for drawable-land-hdpi.
I might've explained it poorly so let me know if you need help.

Thank you! I thought it could only be a tile but it's hard to find with a picture browser because they're often so small.
I've to apologize that I didn't mention your name because it's your work. Thanks again for this nice framework.
Da**, how could I overlook this? It's so easy to find. I've gone though all pics five times and didn't found it...
I'll try to add this background to the SemcPhone settings, but it'll take some time because of the fragmantation of Android files/styles. I'm still not a friend of it.

dont call me a windows fanboy, but I really wanted this windows widget on my phone. I have the same clock on my wall. Something to work with any clock app... I like alarmclock Xtreme.
EDIT: original .pngs attached
EDIT 2 : V1 of neon clock posted (thanks to Kaik541)
EDIT 3 : V2 attached "alarmclock xtreme with modded clock" and "deskclockgoogle" versions (below) post 11 for details
EDIT 4 : V3 (final??) attached. stand alone 1x1 clock. MicroNeonClockWidget (below) post 12 for details.
**TO DO: *****HELP NEEDED
- find artist/programmer to change neon "ring" into battery meter...
- add second hand.
View attachment 533210
EDIT: added original .png images. shouldnt be hard from here..
Unfortunately, the source images are pretty tiny (130 px by 130 px) and upscaling them creates an obnoxiously blurry image so I have included here a widget that will work (though looks a bit tiny). Push the apk to /system/app (it may work in /data/app, didn't test though) and add the widget like any other
note: the above image was created with a DPI setting of 200 instead of the standard DPI of 240, may look a bit different on your screen. also, the widget in this apk does not use a seconds hand, that's why there isn't one shown.
thanks man actually that will work perfect see screenshot of where i put it...
but i think you forgot to attach the file, thank you again

then this may not actually be all that helpful to you. I plugged it into the deskclockgoogle.apk which makes it take a 2x2 square even if the actual image isn't that big and I'm unsure of how to change it
either way, thank you.

no problem, just hit me that you could, of course, be using a launcher that supports resizing widgets dynamically (launcherpro plus/adw) and it wouldn't matter, so good luck with it, hope it fits your needs.
actually using launcherpro plus i was able to re-size the widget and it didnt scale the image, so i have 1x1 perfect.
EDIT: gotta love timing...
is there any way to Untie it to alarm? so i can use it with alarmclockextreme?

hmm, to be honest I have no experience with modifying market apps. I know that standard taking apart and putting back together doesn't work because it breaks the key signing. there are probably some guides on how to resign the application properly, but for now it is beyond my grasp, sorry =/

we're all learning, thats what we're here for.
thanks again
here is a version of the free alarm clock xtreme available on the market with the above neon clock as the analog clock. remove any version installed from the market before attempting to install this and then install like any normal apk.
ok, I think I finally have something that could suit anyone's needs. Here is a widget that is permanently 1x1 (which can be scaled up with a launcher that resizes, but it looks best at this size given the resolution of the PNG's anyway, so it'd be kind of pointless). This is a modded version of this app:
http://www.appbrain.com/app/micro-clock-widget-1x1/factory.widgets.Micro available for free on the market. I have changed the name so they can be installed side by side in case you wanted multiple clocks. Unfortunately, clicking it doesn't open anything, so it's just a standalone 1x1 widget analog clock. Install like any other standard apk.
edit: wow I spent too much time on this, but now I know how to edit market apps yay learning experiences.
a few hours in a single night is fast for learning, it would have taken me at least 2 or 3 days to get there. i dont even have the sdk installed.
your work is really appreciated.
just thought of a great final feature, but it is out of the scope for me and Kaik541,
need to find an artist/programmer to convert the neon ring into a battery meter.
bump... due to |OP| update...
Wow...very nice Kaik. Great work.

very nice Kaik. a keeper.
Does anyone have the stock wallpapers that ship with the Dinc? (i've already searched the forums). I'm running CM7RC4 and love it, but I do miss that dark red and black swirl image that ships with it.
Can someone post those here for me please?
OH, and also, where would I put them to make them selectable as wallpapers (and not just from the gallery option)
thank you!
A Google Image Search turned up this:
http://droidpirate.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/incredible_wp_1.png
As far as having it be listed in the built-in wallpaper list, I'm not sure on that one. I know those files are generally stored in /system/media. However, CM7 may be different.
Hey, I was wanting to edit an application posted by a member here on XDA. It is a flip clock that is actually animated, but isn't designed to look like the flipclock found in Sense UI. I stumbled upon an application called "Better alarm clock pro" which has a flipclock built into it, which looks exactly like the one from sense. Upon decompiling the .apk files, I went to the /res/drawable folder and found all of the images contain in both applications, however they weren't what I was looking for, I could only find the numbers of the clocks, and the white background of the clock, no flipping animations were there. Could anyone help me out here? Could it be that the animations are contained in .xml files? will post a screenshot of the inside of the apks in the second post.
EDIT: i thought maybe it was an issue with the flip clock in better alarm clcok pro not being an actual widget, just part of the app, so I downloaded the Desire Flip Clock port and checked out res/drawable/ but still no dice, just the nuimbers and the clock background. please, I need some help asap

The Android API has functions for animation. They probably use that rather than animate by blitting tons of images.

Yep. That would be the best way to do it

What might I do to edit said files then?

If I'm following you on this, you want to hack animation routines out of one app and add them to another that never had them? I don't think it's going to happen unless you've got the source code to both, and even then, it'd be tough.
Yep animations arent files per say but code defining how something has a 2d or 3d transformation applied. The algorithm used to do these transformations can be edited but you will need to decompile or have the src

Not necessarily change the animations, but the images that are shown. could I hypothetically just swap the images out and it would work, or no?
I can't see to find the lolocation of the stock wallpapers. I ask because I'm having a lot of trouble getting any wallpaper to fit even when sized correctly. But if I simple choose the wallpapers that came with it, the tab never forces me to use tthat stupid template. I assume if I dropped my picture I want into the stock wallpaper location I will be able to set it jjust as eeasily.
probably not much help but the default lockscreen wallpaper is in system/framework/framework-res/res/mdpi
Some of the wallpapers may be stored within the launcher apk as well. You could pull it off and unzip it to check out the folder/file structure.
Not as easy as I had hoped...
its so easy if u have root explorer, as milenko said its in the launcher apk.
Can someone give me a little guidance here?
I found the .apk with root explorer, but now what? Do I extract it, put the new wallpaper in it and overwrite the stock .apk with the new one? I was hoping it'd be more of a drag-drop situation.

In my galaxy 3 the wallpapers have to be exactly the same size as the stock one. Could it be the case?

I had the same problem. Here is what I did, but this might not work on Stock ROM (odexed files):
Get the framework-res.apk from the ROM you use.
Open the framework-res.apk with 7ZIP (do not uncompress it, just open it with 7ZIP)
Change default_wallpaper.png in res/drawable-xlarge-nodpi
Change default_wallpaper.png in res/drawable-nodpi
Change defaultlockscreenwallpaper.jpg in res/drawbale-mdpi if you want a different lock screen wallpaper as well.
Close 7ZIP
Flash the ROM with the changed framework-res.apk, or push it with ADB to the tablet to system/framework.
I changed to different file size and picture size and had no problems.
oh my what a lot of steps involved. i will just stick with the stock one then.
If this was done already than I apologize… I did make some effort to search the forum…. (little)
I tried many times to set custom wallpapers on my Tab... only to get frustrated with the Gallery Cropping Tool!
I tried many different wallpaper resolutions… some looked better than others.
The best results you get with abstract wallpapers since you probably do not care much if its crops things here and there…, but what if you want to center something in both portrait and landscape mode??
I decided to try a few things in Photoshop and was very happy with my results…..
(once again, If this was already done by someone in the past than I am sorry)
I created a Photoshop template that will help all in creating custom wallpapers.
The document has “crop areas” that match the Gallery Cropping Tool so that when trimmed you will get exactly what you placed in the “live areas” (with guides…etc.)
All is self-explanatory one you open it in Photoshop.
Do Not forget to save as a jpg
On the Tab,
Go to Gallery, choose the Wallpaper..... extend the cropping to maximum.
Attached is the PSD and a Sample Wallpaper.
I hope this helps..
Sample pics not showing, but sounds promising. I too have been frustrated by the stupid cropping of my wallpapers.
EDIT: Tried to download on my PC and says that zip is corrupted. Can you try a reup plz? Thanks

Have you tried multi-picture live wallpaper from the market?
Yes I did.
I wanted a different .....simpler approach to set custom wallpapers. (No need for extra apps on my Tab)
+ the template gives me more control

fixed and tested
Sent from my GT-P7510 using XDA Premium HD app
Loops...noticed a problem...not a big deal....
When I made and tested the template I had wallpaper scrolling turned off and only one homescreen. Upon enabling all home screens (7) And enabling scrolling I found that while scrolling it over shoots into the gray area in both landscape and portrait mode. This can be easily fixed by extending images on the template....
I'll try to edit the template and make more guides when I get the chance.

All you need is 'Simple Image Wallpaper'! Seriously. I went though all of this garbage to get the wallpapers to fit correctly and everything was solved once I got:

I am glad that you were able to figure it out, and I think pretty much everybody went through the same process if not on the tab then on another Android device ( I know I did with my old Captivate ). But I hate that we have to do it like this to get the pic centered properly on the tab or need to download a new app to make it work properly.
