I tried every thing. The only way I found to clear is to hold whatever I want deleted and manually delete it
Example, type in M and everything with M pops up. I learned this is a separate issue that needs to be cleared within the phone and not the browser Google Chrome cause those clear settings doesn't help
I see these lil mfers removed that show recent search history, can you believe that

Hey guys, sorry if this has been posted before (I'm sure it has, but trust me, I've looked for it). Every time I check the battery option in android it shows that ' maps' is using the largest part of my battery. I've tried signing in and out of latitude within the app, just like the numerous threads on the internet suggest, but still no luck. All options related to sync or automatic updating have been disabled. Can anyone shed some light on why I can't get maps to close?
Same here, I just uninstallrd it , I need a fix

Over the past week+, even before the latest update, Google Search has been acting wonky...
Note: I am often in an environment that isn't ideal for voice searches, so all my searching is initiated by tapping the search bar. I don't know if the problems that I am reporting occur with voice initiated searches...
Many times when I search no search results will come up... it will just sit there...
Clicking on images at the bottom always brings up results and then clicking back on web sometimes 'wakes up' search and produces search results.
Searching from within Chrome by typing a search on the URL bar always works and doesn't exhibit this problem...
What I have done to try to remedy it:
> Uninstalled Google Search updates and gone back to factory
> Force stopped three apps/services and cleared data: search, voice search and google services framework
> Removed and reinstalled my Google Account from the device
None of those steps fixed the problem...
Has anyone else experienced this?
Note: I am totally stock with an unlocked bootloader...
Thanks...

Others have talked about this including me. Look at the following thread and comment there.

Hi,
I was wondering how the heck can you delete on-device search history on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1?
I tried to delete the search history within the browser but I still see search history when I go on the Internet.
Can you help?
Best regards to all!
Please be more specific. Do you mean in the browser, search history comes up, or are prior searches suggested in the panel above the keyboard as you are typing?
For browser, I suggest settings > application manager > Internet> clear cache, clear data This may not be sufficient if you log into Chrome, for example, from more than one device with the same login
For suggestions, settings> application manager> samsung keyboard> clear cache, clear data **Warning** this will probably clear your personal dictionary too. Once you use the keyboard again, you'll get a notice that "samsung keyboard can record keystrokes (or something like that) follow these steps to disable" follow those steps.
If you mean something else entirely, please post specifically.

Hi I'm using a stock Nexus 4. Recently I've encountered this issue where Chrome would keep opening a new tab every half an hour. Chrome just launches by itself and overrides any app I'm working on. Say I'm playing a game and it would just launch on it's own.
The site it opens remains the same which is: droidsearchapp.info/antivirus/index1.php
It appears to be some anti-virus scan kind of website.
I understand this must have come through some app I have installed but I can't figure out which app because around the time it started, I hadn't installed anything atleast a day before. I've cleared Chrome Cache and Chrome data, even installed Ad Network apps to identify the app which sent this malware in the phone but can't seem to find the culprit.
Any help on this? Any way I can stop Chrome from force opening a new tab?
I can't factory reset the phone, there's a lot of data here and there that I fear losing.
Bump! Anything?
Use opera browser instead
Just a joke. This redirecting and app override issue makes it look very mutch like your device is infected with malware. It's infected with something unfresh certainly.
To me it looks very similar to a Windows infection.

I'm on 4.4 - on the search box at the top of every home screen, when i click in it - there's a list of recent search items, that i can't get rid of.
I've tried:
- Deleting all web search history (from https://history.google.com/history/)
- Turning Web History off (from the same link)
- Turning off Chrome sync for history
- Factory resetting phone
It's not a big issue, just a control thing - I'd like to know how to do it if I want to! (i'm sure there used to be a way in older versions of android?)
Thanks in advance :good:
Open chrome browser , go to settings > privacy > clear browser data > select all items on the list > press clear.
Never mind I see you tried the Chrome sync clearing.

Thanks - but that doesn't help - this is the search widget on the homescreens, not Google Chrome. I tried clearing the chrome history anyways to see if they're related and it does nothing.
Did you try deleting the data cache for the search app?

Yep - I even factory-reset the phone.. the search widget must be pulling the history from somewhere. Very strange!
bump! Can anyone at least replicate this issue at all?
Thanks!

Do you use google service "outside" of your mobile phone? In my case I used google search on my macbook (using safari) and all of my recent search is "copied" to my google search widget on my nexus. So I decide to remove all of recent search from google web history on my safari, and it works. The recent search now is gone.
*also try to remove your web history on your mobile chrome
Good luck!
Thanks for the suggestion - however I already removed my google web history?
