Hi, I'm having trouble with my N7 dropping WiFi signal. Not sure if it's related to android 4.2.2 or what. It was working a while ago, but now not so much. The wifi hangs - like when I'm in chrome a website will take way too long to load, and then a minute later it will load in like half a second. Or when I'm streaming netflix, I'll go for 5 minutes just fine. And then the next 5 minutes it will stutter every 2 seconds.
I'm really not sure what the deal is. Any ideas?
I've tried on a couple networks. I have an asus n66u router. I set up a separate network on the 2.4 ghz band all by itself just to see if it would improve performance. It hasn't. Most recently I tried using my phone a a wifi AP from about 3 inches away. Still the N7 stutters and drops the signal.
Any help would be appreciated thanks!
Sorry if this is in another thread. I tried searching but couldn't find anything similar.

Just got my Arc today. Connect up via wifi to various diff sources, same issue. After approx 2 mins, signal bars for wifi remain static, never move and connection issues occur. This happens on anything from market, web, gmail etc.
Repeatable on various diff routers, only way to recover is turn off wifi and reactivate it, then it will last another 2 mins.
Checked and running latest firmware. Faulty device?
Maybe, my wifi works fine.
Yeah starting to think that. Both my galaxy s, and iphone 4 stay connected all the time at decent rates. Watching the router stats the mac for the ARC just drops down to 1, then dies. Also noticing bad range, like anything more than 3m away from router and no signal.
Hi there. yes i have the same problem with my arc.... but not allways, yesterday when i was on market, downloading its stops at 40% and thats it, i must turn off wifi and turn back on, that will help..but after few minutes (downloading, browsing, facebook) it again stops, and again the same. But its not allways after 2 mins... one time is working fine without problems even one day is ok ,and sometimes is doing this. yesterday i get a error from arc something like that " error parsing packets" . And what i have noticed on 3G is doing the same, i tried to download yesterday the same file with 3G conection and it stops again. So i think this is not only wifi problem...i dont know.any clues?sugestions? sorry for my english xd
im at work atm.
The WiFi is pretty well known already, it happens also to me and quite a few other owners of the Arc. From my experience it is related to Youtube application or video playing/flash pages because most often it occurs when using them.
Sometimes I would be able to use the WiFi connection for more than a day without issue, while other times it stops working twice in 5 minutes. Pretty weird behavior, but I'm guessing it is a combination of a software issue and the newer support for draft n wireless connection.
Joy, its kind of a deal breaker for me
No WIFI issue whatsoever with my ARC
Software issue.
First time poster here. I've searched all the threads and couldn't find anything on my specific issue.
Had the Nexus 10 for about a week and noticed streaming YouTube and movies was EXTREMELY slow. Slower than my Galaxy Nexus on the same WiFi network (my network speed is about 18-20 Mbps). I finally did a speed test and noticed that my 10 was getting awful results...sometimes 3-6 Mbps while sometimes it'd get up to 10-13. My Galaxy Nexus gets between 14-18 Mbps consistently. For my 10, every speed test fluctuates between 3 to 13 and it's just so inconsistent.
Now, I don't have any connectivity issues. It never drops the signal and I'm always connected, it just goes super slow to the point of YouTube videos not loading.
I'm not a wizz, but I use ATT uverse and use the router they give you. I'm not sure if it's a router issue or a Nexus issue.
I've restarted the nexus, turned off the WiFi optimization and turned the WiFi off and on. I had a ton of issues with my nexus 7 (main reason I switched to 10) and I really don't want to ship the device back to Google. Any suggestions??

For starters when you toggle WiFi optimization you need to reboot for the setting to completely turn on/off.
What ROM / Kernel combo are you using? If that is stock then it is likely the router.
ISP routers are usually cheap, they don't handle multiple device traffic very well. One thing you can do is change the stock/auto settings they come with as they are less than desirable. Lower channels/and or Auto Channel (in both 2.4 and 5 GHz), QoS, software static IP, and even Google DNS can all interfere with your router. First go into build.prop and look for the 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 lines and delete them, reboot. Try that. If issues persist go into router firmware and change all the Auto settings to a preset. Even something as simple as your phone logged on at the same time could interfere if the channel is saturated. Take everything off the WiFi except for the n10 and try that. Getting a 3rd party router with dual band / 802.11n support is ideal.
The least likely issue is that it could be a hardware issue with your n10.
We recently signed up for TWC cable at home and have purchased our own Netgear C6300 modem/router. Since then, I have had a very noticeable delay in certain apps. For Google Play store, there is always an exact 15 second delay from the time I press install to when the app actually starts downloading. For YouTube, the thumbnails take about 10-15 seconds to load. For Netflix, the app takes about 10-15 seconds just to connect to my account and display thumbnails. These are the only apps affected, which seems strange. This only happens when connected to the wifi network at home from my Note 3. We have the 200Mbs internet plan and I can confirm we are getting 235Mbs when hardwired to the router and I'm getting 230Mbs on my Note 3 through wifi at the same time I am seeing this delay. So I don't see the internet speed being the problem. If I disconnect from the wifi and run on Verizon 4G LTE, there is no delay at all. When using a different wifi network with my Note 3 in different locations (work, friends house, etc) there is no delay. When using my ASUS tablet and my home wifi network, there is no delay within any of these apps. This only happens with the new Netgear C6300 modem/router and my Note 3. The other strange thing is that once this delay has passed, I have no issue with download speeds or any buffering during playback. It all just seems to be that initial connection. I even went as far as doing a hard reset on my Note 3 no see if that solved the issue, but nope. I am currently running Android 5.0 and the Netgear 6300 is running firmware V2.01.19. Has anyone else experienced this? Have any ideas as far as solutions? Help is much appreciated.
I tried everything and I found a solution. I also searched the forum and couldn't find a similar post.
When I first received my Note 4 the wifi constantly disconnected. I am talking every 20 seconds or so. I had to manually reconnected every single time.
So my solutions? Either disable mixed signal mode altogether on your router, or set it to use for example B/G only(Instead of B/G/N). Once I set my router to omit wireless N the wireless became stable and for the past several hours hasn't disconnected once.
I hope this helps someone. If this is a double post my apologies.
Good luck!
Almost 24hrs later and not a single disconnect. Just an update.
Going to bump this for new Note 4 owners. The solution is still working.
Hello,
sitting 6 steps away from the router watching youtube on the phone and then I find "Loading" and I look at the wifi icon and I find a question mark. the phone keeps disconnecting from the network then reconnecting on its own. Did you face a similar issue or if you have a fix that would be fantastic, please.
That happened 6 times in the span of 30 minutes and NO it's not a router problem, I tried (Huawei GR5 2017 - iPhone 7+ - Galaxy Note 5 - Galaxy Tab 8-inch) They work fine.
There's also another problem, that it doesn't connect from a distance of about (1-2 floors upward which I assume is like 5 or 6 meters max in this house) It seems the network and tried to connect > authenticating > nothing happens.
Edit: Forgot to add another problem (3 so far in wifi), Internet is SLOW, Instagram & chrome load very slowly, why is that? All these other devices work find and I tried a low-end device (Grand Duos) it works okay and loads faster on Instagram. (websites I tried, XDA and Setaswall for wallpapers "barely loads 3 images of the many")
Note, this is stock android, the phone is as it came, no changes, just updates.
Hope someone can help, thank you.
Maybe try flashing custom kernels it has updated wifi drivers.
WiFi disconnect problem i agree.
But loosing connection from 1-2 floors is not phones fault. Compared to other phones its range is quite low.
Yes, it did happen before and it was reconnecting between the 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz every 10-20 minutes for no reason
I disabled my 5 ghz network and stayed on 2.4 ghz since it's much more reliable
Btw, it did happen in both stock and custom roms

I thought about that, but I just bought the device like a week ago and wanted to keep it as it's for a while to check everything as it is then decide if i'm gonna root, install modules or other stuff. Thanks for replying.

I might try to do the same and see it changes anything.
- I noticed that this (disconnect - reconnect) problem happens mostly when I'm viewing Youtube in Full screen mode, any other browsing or youtube in regular mode doesn't affect wifi unless I'm really far away from the router. I will do further testing and try different stuff in hope this gets better.
Thank you all for the replies.

I have the same problem on a stock device (with Android Pie): dual band Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting, unless I am within 3 m (10 feet) of the router.
Disabling the 5 GHz 802.11ac network solved the issue.
Still present. If I have LTE enabled, my phone will use the LTE instead of wifi all the time. So I keep my LTE off. That's my only solution. Xiaomi really f***ed up this phone..
Yep me too... Maybe it's because of the pie but when my screen is turned off the wifi automatically disconnects from the network also the wifi signal is poor compared to galaxy s4 which is a device from 2014...
