[Q] Little help required, managed to lock myself out of my phone. - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Just bought a I-9505 and wanted to install the CyanogenMod 10.1.
I followed the instructions i could find. Rooted with CF-AutoRoot. Installed the CWM recovery. Rebooted into recovery mode. Had the nightly build of CyanogenMod on the SD card as a zip file. The process started. After a few minutes i got an error message inthe CWM. The change to CyanogenMod apparently failed. Now the phone is stuck at the Samsung Galaxy Logo. I can get into the download menu and flash things from ODIN but i cannot get into the recovery mode again.
What can i do? Any suggestion is deeply appreciated.

restore with odin ans start over

[Q] Messed up installing CM10.1

Hi,
Hopefully someone can help me with this.
I was trying to install CM10.1 - I am a bit of a noob but thought after successfully installing on my Tab2 that I should be OK.
I was following the guide on androidtelegraph.com and had managed to root the phone and install CWM no problem.
When trying to install CM10.1 something went wrong and the installation aborted. I didnt backup the previous ROM - when I tried there was an error. I guess I should have stopped at that point! Possibly lack of space on the phone.
Now the phone has been wiped and I really don't know what to do to get it back (if I can!). Switching on the phone just gives me the Samsung logo.
The file I was trying to install was cm-10.1.3-RC2-jfltexx
I would be very grateful for any help or support that can be offered.
Hi again,
I was wondering if adding more information may help.
What I had done was firstly successfully root the phone (confirmed via the Root Checker app).
I also successfully installed CWM recovery using Odin (confirmed as booted into CWM Recovery) using this file CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.tar.md5
When I booted into CWM Recovery I then wiped data (tried to do backup first but this failed).
I tried to then install the CM 10.1 zip from this file cm-10.1.3-RC2-jfltexx
Thats when the phone failed.
The phone can still boot into CWM Recovery and can also be "seen" by Odin in download mode,
I guess I'm trying to understand what stage my phone is at - is it "bricked" and what I can do to resolve the issue?
Again extremely grateful for any support.

S4 stuck on boot screen, can't go into recovery mode

So, i have the Galaxy S4 i9505 and last night rooted it with Odin 3.07 and placed CF-Auto-Root-jflte-jfltexx-gti9505.tar.md5. I then decided to flash on a ROM so put on WanamLite. All worked fine. Today i wanted a new custom ROM so downloaded PACMAN AIO Nightlies. I went into recovery mode, wiped all data, cache, dalvik cache and then went into install zip from sdcard and chose the zip file. It seemed to be installing and since then has been stuck on the Samsung boot screen. I have tried to get back into recovery mode but it won't get into it. I managed to now get into recovery mode but it isn't Clockwork Mod Recovery any longer it is the Android one. I went into this, wiped everything and tried to boot but it still remains stuck on the samsung boot screen. SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP!!!
NOW i went into download mode, used odin to flash the clockwork recovery mod into my phone, now i can get into clockwork recovery mode, but i cant flash on any roms they keep failing and my phone wont boot, please please help me

[Q] Boob screwup

Hello, I rooted my sm-900v verizon note 3, installed custom jellybeans rom successfully, then I was going to install hyperdrive booted safestrap and wiped everything on the phone, for some reason I had to restart my phone, now I cant get it to boot up, tried using the recovery mode to install either jelly beans or hyperthread,
I wipe the cache
Then I wipe data/factory reset
Then I choose apply update fron external storage
Choose the custom rom fronm the root of the sd card
And I get an E: signature verification failed
Also tried using odin mode and odin 3.09v to install, unzipped the file and tried to load into odin, cant find the md5 file, some please help!
I did do a TWRP back up, but TWRP is not loading at boot up, nothing is, please help!

From CynogenMod to WanamLite - Help me get there!

Hi,
I'm currently running CyanogenMod KitKat version with ClockWorkMod. Since the rom has several bugs and for the past few months they haven't published any updates to my Galaxy s4 I9505, I've decided to switch to WanamLite.
There I found out I need TWRP recovery so I went ahead and downloaded GooManager which installed an outdated version, as I've found out.
I tried wiping my internal storage as recommended but the recovery couldn't mount any of my partitions.
So now CyanogenMod won't boot. I know this issue is fixed in the updated version of TWRP but I'm not sure how to update it without the phone booting (Odin perhaps? It doesn't recognize it currently... Should I move to download mode for it to be detected?)
Anyways, I'm kind of stuck as of now. Any help would be very much appreciated!
Btw I have a question, what's the difference between using Odin 1.85 and 3.09? Why do people still use the old version?
Thanks in advance!!
Neta
Edit:
Alright, now I can't get into recovery either. When I try, I can see the Samsung logo and there's "recovery" written in the top left but then it just restarts again into the same logo without "recovery". I'm starting to lose my cool now. Anyone have any ideas?
Try flashing latest stock through download mode and see if it boots.

Flash this recovery through odin. It's TWRP 2.6.3.1. Worked alwys for me.:fingers-crossed:

Uncheck auto-reboot in Odin.
Thank guys
I got freaked out and just did everything I could to make the phone working again.
I found a thread on XDA explaining how to return your phone to stock version, so I followed it, rooted with auto root, (btw Odin didn't recognize my phone because I used the front usb... how annoying!), then flashed the latest TWRP (2.7.0.1, not 2.6.x.x as GooManager downloaded for me), then booted to recovery and flashed WanamLite.
Everything is working now!
Except one thing - I'm still not able to access recovery mode through physical buttons, only using boot apps. Is this a kernel issue?
Could be some incompatibility since CyanogenMod uses it's own kernel and CWM recovery.
The recovery itself is working fine, but when I try to access it using buttons it shows the Samsung logo with the recovery on the top left, and then reboots again to normal boot.
What do you think?
Thanks!

Hi,
I think you can use Odin and flash your ROM via USB.
Do you have a backup ROM?
