I am hoping someone can help me as I am having trouble with my phone! I am trying to do a emergency factory restore on my device and start from scratch through Samsung Kies however I am getting stuck on a recovery code so I am wondering if anyone knows what that is? I unfortunately do not have Odin as I am running a Mac and as far as I know Odin is PC only.
Please advise if anyone knows a way to factory restore the original samsung touch wiz operating system!
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Really the only option you have as far as I know is to use heimdall.. Essentially its Odin for Linux and mac and windows too.. A new version was just released but haven't tried it yet to see if it supports the s4 yet.. If you decide to try it its on you though I'm not responsible for anything that may happen...
You could always hop on a buddies computer with windows and give it a try to use Odin if you rather not risk it..

Applied the CSC - code "CPW"

Since the others wont offer any help. (and yes, i understand this is the development section and not the Q&A).
Try a Factory Reset, restart your phone.
Hold Volume DOWN+"Home" button+Power UNTIL you get to the screen with the yellow triangle specifying it's in download mode.

Im sure he would have gotten help once it was moved to the Q&A section.....
Should someone really be asking this if they are flashing ROMs? Cant tell the difference between recovery and download? Everyone starts out as a noob, but come on
And i said i understand that, but leave the moderating job to the moderators. If someone is in need, you should help them first instead of telling them they need to be somewhere else and THEN ->inform<- them where they should be posting. There's nothing wrong with being informative and empathetic.

if everyone was thinking the same , this section would have been named "Galaxy S I9000 Android Development/Q&A"
why would you post here when you know its wrong.
faster response?
Like i said, let the mods do their jobs. IF a thread needs to be moved because of a person posting it in the wrong area, let them move it. This is a simple mistake a LOT of people make every day. Nonetheless, tanzi got her help needed, problem solved.
This conversation is over.

Bump, anyone help me??
Try to download stock firmware for your device from sammobile, and flash it via Odin
BTW, you'd better ask in the Verizon Note 3 forum, may be many people will help you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-note-3
Hi XDA!!
I am experiencing problems on my Samsung Galaxy S5 Exynos variant (SM-G900H).
It has been soft-bricked. I can clearly say so as it can boot into stock recovery and in download mode, but not in stock 4.4.2.....
It has been bricked due to following the steps mentioned in this thread : s health and xposed
Many videos on youtube ask the viewer to flash stock Samsung Firmware from sammobile.com using odin in download mode.
I have a problem even there.... all versions of odin get stuck on initializing......
Tried on all USB ports.... Kies closed..... basically done everything everybody wrote on XDA.
Any new bright ideas would be appreciated....
Thanks in advance!!:good::good:

You need to do more reading. A lot more.
You clearly haven't tried everything yet. Nor are you are bricked if you can boot into recovery mode. It sounds like you have messed up the system files preventing a normal boot.
Odin is the most common way of recovering. Use Odin 3.09, ensure that you have disabled anti virus, malware amd firewall software and do not have intensive programs running in the background. If necessary use a different computer.
Flash a full stock firmware, ideally the same version as the current firmware on your phone. But in any event, not an older version and matching your current CSC /carrier /baseband. And you ought to make the effort to find the correct PIT file and flash it at the same time. This insures that you don't have any lingering partition corruption. A forum search will explain all about PIT files. And someone probably has a thread with the actual files too.
It will work. In the worst case, you will just need to find a different PC.

You seriously think that I don't mean it when I said that I had tried everything?? All steps you mentioned have been tried before I read your reply... Anyways, going on a different PC helped... apparently Odin is quite moody.... If it decides it is not going to run on a PC, it simply will get stuck on initialization... hence the solution is to find a PC which has run Odin before... It will work on that PC definitely!!! If you can't find one, try running on all PC's in your vicinity (friend's, family etc). There will be one that can run Odin...
And by the way, I clearly said my phone is "soft-bricked"... It means that I can boot only into recovery or download... not android... so my friend, you are quite wrong in saying that my phone isn't bricked...

Did you try a data factory reset/clear the caches in recovery and reboot and go one from there?

Yes... but to no avail... anyways... like I said above, flash the stock firmware in download mode again using Odin... If Odin gets stuck, try it on a different PC...
I will not recommend anyone to do data factory reset as
(1) It won't do anything that helps you
(2) If you don't reset your phone, you can still retain your apps and settings after flashing the stock firmware again!!
<i>LOL, here I am, posting solutions to my own problem!!</i>

First you need to be sure what version of galaxy s4you have, l720 or l720t. Then simply go to www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ and in the search box type your s4 model, download stock firmware and flash it trought odin. I will link a youtube link to be easier for you. Please search other forums posts to understand this process better. I am here to help you just pm me

So which recovery did you install?
Also what do you mean it won't go past the recovery?
Do you mean it won't boot normally?
Have you installed a ROM (cm zip file for example) in the recovery and let it finish, then try booting?
Let me know how it goes
Hi Guys. I'm new to this forum so do excuse me if you find my question stupid or in the wrong thread. I have a Galaxy S5 (SM-G900W8) which I tried rooting some time back. But as a result of the rooting, it has gone into a continuous boot loop. I have tried going back into recovery mode and resetting everything along with clearing the cache but that didn't work, Then I tried unrooting the device using ODIN and the stock ROM downloaded from Sammobile. But it showed failed at the end of the process. I thought that it may be because I may used the wrong ROM so now I'm trying to download the ROM used for unknown variants. My question is if there is any other way that I can use to unbrick my boot looped phone or will I have spend money and take to a service centre?
Any help or advise will be sincerely appreciated. It is worth mentioning here that I don't know anything about whether the phone was originally a Sprint or AT&T or Rogers or Bell etc phone.

Try TWRP recovery and flash with ODIN and unpin autoreboot in odin
Thanks for your valuable advise senzatiOn. Much appreciated. I have read about the TWRP recovery and in fact wanted to do that but I believe that there are specific files that are used for this type of recovery. I tried finding the ones suitable for my phone (SM-G900W8) but couldn't. So now if you could please please help me with getting the files and also the procedure to do the recovery using the TWRP method, I would be sincerely obliged.
Thanks
