Advice for beginning developer. - Java for Android App Development

Hello,
I am getting into developing and was wondering if anyone had some advice.
I had an idea for a real estate application (android) and was wondering about how to retrieve the data on properties for the app, and possibly the legality of this. In addition I was considering buying a Mac Mini with these specs:
2.5GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5
500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm
4GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
Would this suffice for a development environment?
Thank you in advance,

Yes, that will be enough.
However, I do not like Macs. But get it if you want it.

Well there are lot of ways to retrieve info from external source. You can try looking up xml parsing, json parsing etc.

Qualcomm chipset architecture

Hello,
Does somebody know what is the architecture of the Qualcomm chip (which comes with HTC Diamond)?
I'd like to know whether the processor and the baseband unit share the same RAM memory?
Thanks,
Paul.
take a look at pdabb.net
What is pdabb.net ?
I can't find this site
he meant pdadb.net
...
Thank you, but this site doesn't have enough information.
It's the same details which presented in the Qualcomm's website.
I thought that maybe some of you may know more than that.
Yes and no, general-purpose ARM core (ARM11) and baseband core (ARM9) on your HTC Diamond's MSM720x are not sharing program/stack/heap RAM space. There IS some shared RAM available for static data though. Messing with this shared data may cause baseband core to malfunction.
But the AT commands are sent through this shared memory. So this shared memory section in the RAM is dynamic and is the only memory space that the baseband has access to?

share memory is SHARED by arm11 and arm9,while they have separate memory area too.

Returning my N7v2... buying an HP Slatebook x2!

http://www.shopping.hp.com/en_US/ho...us/en/pc_cons/higher_asp/slatebook_x2/buynow8
Processor
NVIDIA® Tegra® 4 T40S with Intel HD Graphics (1.8 GHz, 1 MB L2 cache)
Graphics
Intel HD Graphics 4000
HOLY SHEEEEEEEEEEIIIIIIIIII****!
I just found out that the HP Slatebook x2 comes with an Intel HD 4000, not the Tegra 4 GPU!
THIS MAKES THE SLATEBOOK THE MOST POWERFUL GAMING ANDROID TABLET EVER MADE!
http://anandtech.com/show/7190/nvidia-shield-review-tegra-4-crossroads-pc-mobile-gaming/5
The HD 4000 is roughly 1.5x faster than the Tegra 4 GPU. The HD 4000 is also roughly 3.0x faster than the Adreno 320 in the N7v2!
I'm returning my N7v2 and buying the Slatebook ASAP... will let anyone who's interested know more!
But its too expensive!
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
It certainly seems like a nice device but its more than double the price...
the price is not for me even though i spent 300 on the nvidia shield and 270 on the n7 i think its ok...i would not get it though after seeing how bad hp were with there own product that they killed in less than 3 months now they move to android. simple fact is i dont trust them period no matter how good the device may look.
Psh! It's not too expensive! My 32 GB N10 was $30 more. So what if it's twice the price of the N7? It's also more than twice the value, so you're getting what you pay for.
If everybody used the argument "it's too expensive" then we'd all be buying $60 Chinese Android tablets off Amazon.
I'm sure the Slate is great, but main reason I bought the N7 was the price.
Sent from my Incredible S using xda premium
Double the price, and it is a 10 inch. They aren't even in the same catagory.
You guys are completely missing the point.

The main points out of the page... lists nothing Intel wise. My guess it was an oops on the main page.
And if it was in there... why would it run on a Nvidia chipset, it wouldn't it would be on an intel CPU.
I'm really confuse with the Intell Hd4000. No way HP was able to use an intel GPU chip with Nvidia's CPU/GPU combo, or did they? haha would be awesome though. I'm sure this is a type or error.
Hd 4000 confirmed

Not according to HP it won't.
In any case, I will be purchasing the Slatebook x2 and I will find out personally if it comes with the HD 4000.
Intel isn't the best at battery life. If it is a PC Slate.
Also, if it is an Intel chip, it EMULATES ARM code, so while it may be faster as a whole, emulating ARM might make it slower.
The whole Intel/Android marriage is too new to really know how it will work. Have fun!
I'd hold your excitement until it's actually official...chat reps are not always the most accurate sources of information.

the chat reps work through a 3rd party company. they are just reading off the spec lists. They are looking at the same typo.

It's not a PC Slate, it's an Android slate.
It's not an Intel CPU, it's an NVIDIA Tegra 4 CPU.
It also comes with TWO batteries - one in the tablet, and one in the keyboard dock. So battery life will not be an issue.
As I said originally, I will update and let you guys know once I get my hands on one personally!
HP employee?
don't get me wrong, but the OP is totally comparing apples to oranges. Sad that HP has resorted to this type of marketing, as clearly the OP is an employee of the company. Wonder if he has posted over on the Nexus 10 forum the same thing?

I thought HP dropped out of the tablet market? If it is a Tegra 4, I don't see it having an intel 4000 chipset. Isnt the Tegra4 CPU/GPU married together?
So it's basically a new Asus Transformer?

I have the same unit, and looking to do same, but when searching can't find info.
Any help someone?
I know this isn't going to be very helpful.... but it is best to look into the status of development and modding of a unit before you decide to buy.
The status of the dev community tends to play a bit part in me deciding which phone/tablet/anything to buy - especially as I don't have anywhere near the skills to develop on my own.
I hope that your device gets popular enough to sping a dev community or that your device is similar enough to use tools devised for other units.
Good luck.
Thanks

How long before Jide abandons this product like they have the Ultra Tablet?
"There's a sucker born every minute!"

Hey Tom. I realize that there is a sentiment that we have abandoned the Ultratablet. The challenge for a startup is to know what to work on, where to direct limited resources while also trying to survive as a startup. In this Ultratablet section of XDA, I have started a new thread that will help us collect current software related issues and for us allocate our resources to providing fixes for a future update.

I can't say I trust kickstarter anyway - too many scams and no-shows.
And I definitely don't trust a company that uses/needs it to start a device - If you need crowd funding to develop a device then you have almost no ££$$ in the bank to support after-sales problems.
A company that's not willing, or not able, to out their own money into the development smells like a "fly-by-nighter".
Kickstarter is all wrong, to me - it's lots of small people chancing their money when a company should be the "chancers".
For this box it'll be Ugoos or Vorke, for me, not Remix.
Update:
It's a little worrying - their KS thing said "Ships in March"... now the pre-order page says "Ships in June". I trust them about as far as I trust a politician... which is to say NEGATIVE trust.
Missed our Kickstarter campaign? Pre-order now at the early-bird Kickstarter price of $129!
(Retail Price: $179)
Ships in June.

Meh - I'll pay the extra $50 just to see it if it a con or not, let the early adopters find the problems and issues an failures. And scams.
I saw, also - their KS thing got them over half a million dollars! What sad-act company NEEDS KS to fund a device!??

[Portal Article] XDA Takes on Ryzen: In-Depth Look of AMD’s AM4 Processors On Linux

Article Posted: April 24, 2017
When we heard AMD was working a new processor lineup - one that could compete against Intel's 8-core, 16-thread i5-5960X in performance... we definitely wanted to test that.
Curious what we found? Read the article here: https://www.xda-developers.com/xda-...ook-of-amds-new-processors-on-the-linux-side/
Anyone bought Ryzen? If so, what are your thoughts?
How about Gigabyte motherboard owners - having any more issues with them since the bug and fix have been identified?
used a variety of Ryzen CPU/Motherboard combos, love the performance that it brings to the table.

The problems are real. I still have yet to get a fully dialed-in overclock going - I either have to choose RAM or CPU, but not both. I do have a promise from one of AMD's community managers in Australia that he'll help me work on that soon!
