USB Debug - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm stuck in TWRP with no OS installed and I'm trying to fix things through adb but I can't access usb debug and enable it so I'm stuck again... What should I do?

Adb should work while in recovery, so you shouldn't need to enable USB debugging.
Use this command:
Code:
adb push ROM.zip /sdcard

Yeah that makes sense... thing is device is not being recognised... I'm stuck between fastboot and recovery with no OS installed and I'm trying to flash a ROM to no avail... Been looking at the phone for 2 hours now.

So when you go into recovery and run "adb devices" the phone doesn't show up?

Try to reinstall the drivers and then try adb commands. Might help.

I never had an issue rooting, someone with more knowledge will reply soon. You cant root if you have update software. You have to go back to older software and do steps before update to keep root.

You have the USB mode set to 'None'?
I have rooted mine half a dozen times, I bet there is something very simple that is being overlooked.

You are probably stuck in fastboot. You need to change the bootmode to 4000.

Problem rooting (adb stopped seeing device) help?

I was following this thread here to root the xoom and I got the adb installed and was able to see the xoom when I type adb devices
now after I did the unlock of the xoom, it pretty much restarted itself and it's like a factory reset.... however now I can't get adb to see the xoom... the drivers seem installed because I see the 'xoom' on the computer
any help with this guys? I'm lost here
eta - forgot after the reset of the device, I had to enable debugging... that's why
Make sure USB debugging is enabled, always
When you unlocked the Xoom it wiped and reset back to factory settings which doesn't by default have USB debugging enabled

ok thanks!
next problem... where do I put the .img file for the CWM recovery? I put it in the same folder as the adb stuff, and it's not reading it/finding it
Yes place it where your fastboot and adb files are.

I believe it will be platform-tools

that's what I did and copied the name of the file and pasted it along with the command and it still didn't work
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-Tiamat-R4c-100611-1150-cwm.img
I tried renaming it to CWM.img and it doesn't work either, I get the error
Code:
error: cannot load 'CWM.img'
Are you in fastboot protocol?
Check pm

Is this the stock recovery?
If you have access to fastboot, then flash a factory os. That simple.

Phone reboots into TWRP

well I have been having problems on how to do unlock my phone using a Mac, but I was finally able to unlock it and flash TWRP recovery by using mattlgroff's utility 1.20 now the I have installed TWRP recovery, every time I connect my phone to the Mac it asks me superuser permission for AdB shell I grant permission and it says "Adb shell has been granted permission" and it reboots into TWRP recovery. I even denied superuser permission but it still does the same thing. I have USB debugging on.
is this normal? because I need to transfer some files to my phone so I can Flash a Rom through TWRP. I would really appreciate your help. thanks.
here's a picture attached showing what it says as soon as I connect the phone to computer.
after that it just reboots into TWRP.

I fixed it! I had to reset my Mac's SMC, apparently it kept flashing TWRP every time I connected my phone to the computer.
