Guys, i flashe my I9500 with an unbranded stock ROM using odin, and when i enter recovery, it wipes data fine, but when i try to whipe cache, it shows the progress bar, then the android with the red ! triangle sign and it restarts. It works fine, but it shouldn't do that right? The phone has never been rooted or modded in any way.
I've read in some forums that this is normal behaviour in the S4...is that true?. Also, when i boot into recovery it says "No commands."
i believe all S4's have this problem, something to do with faulty stock recovery

Not all of them do. It's quite strange tho because i flashed it a couple of times and sometimes it says "no commands" and sometimes it doesn't. The wipe cache fails everytime. Anyways the phone seems to be working just fine.
I flashed a custom recovery and that one works just fine...

Hello.
Just yesterday, I installed CM 7.1 on my Defy, which was on stock froyo. It started up normally, and was working perfectly, until I had to reboot it, in order to get the google apps, when it went into boot loop.
I've tried going into stock recovery and wiping the data/ factory reset and wiping the cache, but even then it's stuck on boot loop on the CM 7 logo. What should I do?
Ps. It's the Indian Defy, which is without Blur, if that makes any difference.
EDIT: Just got it to work, I flashed the stock Froyo SBF using RSD lite. I think my mistake was installing Clockworkmod on it, because it has it's own custom recovery. Can anyone tell me how to get into it?
Ya installing CWM on top of CM7 will screw up the pre-installed Custom recovery. While the phone is just starting to boot watch for a blue LED to flash at the top of the phone. Right when it flashes blue, press volume down. From here use your volume rocker to select recovery, use the power button to make your selection. Next choose custom recovery.
Thanks mate
Though sadly, after rebooting it, it keeps on showing the message - process com.android.phone has stopped working, and I get no network. What do I do?
Wipe data and install the zip again...

So I just installed the CM10 nightly ROM from the original development thread, and after rebooting after starting up the ROM once, it won't let me boot up.
It sits at the CM boot screen and loops until it's battery is dead. I also cannot get into recovery. I can get to the bootloader, but I can't adjust anything past the start in the top right. I also can't connect it to my computer anymore due to the fact that ADB isn't on.
What do I do??
Fastboot flash stock imgs?
Clear your /data and to be safe wipe system cache and dalvik then reflash cm10. It happened to me too...
If all fails flash back to stock as suggested above.

First to a hard reset/reboot, if not working:
Go into recovery > wipe cache.
If its not working wipe data (factory reset)
IF that doesn't work, try flashing stock images.
IF that doesn't work, flash a custom recovery and wipe cache dalvik cache and format/wipe data(I prefer twrp) (when unlocking bootloader and flashing recoveries I also recommend using the fast boot commands, not a toolkit)
If that doesn't work, then flash a ROM?
Flashing stock images should be your second to last last option though,
Flashing custom recoveries/roms IS your last option.

Bro thanks lots for your response. However nobody here replied so i took a guess avid asked her to reboot the phone and see if it starts up. Fortunately it did and luckily it updated the OS. I wonder why it stopped at upgrading apps then?
However her camera ain't working, which was already giving lotsa problems on 4.2.2.

I downloaded Imperium ROM from a thread on xda and installed it. I wiped data, wiped cache and dalvik and installed zip. Then I rebooted and it showed a downloading screen, after a little bit of research it's called download mode or ODIN mode. Now what's happening is whenever I try to reboot, it shows the S4 i9505 screen (i think it's called a splash screen, thats what someone called it) and freezes. After about 10-15 seconds, reboots into recovery. I've got CWM installed and I've ran out of ideas. The volume buttons are not being touched and for some reason recovery and download mode are always being booted into, never the OS.
I'm also new so anything I've done wrong, I'd love to know.
CWM recovery is outdated and should not be used anymore. Instead only use TWRP. Flash it trough Odin in the same way you flashed CWM.
You say that you only wiped data, cache and dalvik. You also HAVE to wipe /system. Otherwise the rom will probably not boot.

Update I tried to install albe95's s6 port. I've noticed something and it's that both ended up with Statuc 7 or some word that started with "S" and had the number 7. Googled that and turns out it's bad. I formatted /System and installed the ROM, it worked!
I guess there was just no OS to boot into. Going to try installing Imperium now.
Status 7 errors can occur if the recovery is outdated. What recovery is on the phone?
Hi I have a SM-N910F model which is proving extremely difficult to flash. I firstly flashed the latest Marshmallow UK BTU firmware on it which resulted in a boot loop. I cleared cache partition and wiped data/factory reset in the stock recovery (and TWRM recovery) but this did not fix the problem. So I flashed the phone again and this time it was stuck in a boot loop with the text "recovering booting..." at the top left. Tried the same as before and still didnt fix it.
So I then tried a different stock rom - Lollipop UK BTU firmware. This gave me the exact same problems as before. However on a few occasions, I also got an error on the recovery screen saying cache could not be mounted. I cleared the cache partition, tried reformatting cache using TWRM but none of this worked. Eventually I reflashed and it went away but the boot loop doesnt go.
Lastly I tried an even older firmware - Kitkat UK BTU firmware. This again gave me a boot loop problem. It also kept displaying the cannot mount cache error as well. I tried using PIT file to repartition the device and eventually the error went but the device would still be on boot loop. However on two occasions the phone did go past the Samsung logo and show the first setup screen (where you select initial settings like Wifi etc). After like 10-15 seconds it would just switch off and then go back into boot loop. I havent managed to get to the first setup screen again.
I have tried flashing with various different Odin versions but still no luck.
I feel like I have exhausted my options and not sure what to do. Do you think I should try a custom rom? If so, for the sake of getting it to start, which is a good lightweight rom?
Does anyone know what I can do to make these infinite boot loops and/or "cannot mount cache" error go away?
Anyone? I could really do with some help..
