Not sure if it's just my eyes decieving me but any users with the white phone feel that the sides are becoming a lil bit yellowy?
I know the phone isn't pure white, but I don't think the phone itself should change colour with the material used?! :silly:
I use a case too, & I also mean the part that's around the middle glass strips which seem 'drity'?
This is a little knowledge of what my brother taught me raw materials regarding of white paint since he is production manager of our family business manufacturer of paint. It may apply possible in xperia z. There are two version one is pearly white and bluish white. Bluish white is more better and really expensive due to for prolong years of used and wear and tear its white is likely white but not as new. But the pearly white after long year's exposed white will become dirty white. For me, it is inevitable for the white version of xperia z.

If anything a case will be more likely to speed up the process, especially plastic/rubber cases, the chemicals in them are rather reactive with paints. Typically, it shouldn't tarnish that fast, try using some natural non-abrasive cleaning products to bring the white back a bit. White especially will look dirty from just general sweat and mucky fingers. Hope this helps.

Yeah mine is tpu case, the case is white too & the corners have become very mucky already.
I do have a plastic one but find it's not as good when protecting the phone. What form of cleaning products do you recommend that is safe & worth a try? Like I said, it could just be my eyes & the phone was already that colour Just wanted to see if anyone else felt the same?

Yeah, I've been wanting to mod mine for a while. I'd love to make it some kind of color. Replacement battery doors are already on eBay, so I'm gonna guess that it won't be long before we see colors, etchings, patterns, etc. popping up all over the place.
Pocket-Lint had a picture during the Desire Z launch event that showed the device reflecting the blue lighting from the room. Sadly, it's the same silver back, just reflecting blue light...but damn, if that doesn't look good in blue!
I like the blue quite a bit, but the white one seems to be grabbing my attention the more I look at it. Has anyone here made the switch and regretted it?

Eww I waited for the blue one and I'm glad I did. I held the white phone of my cousin in my hand. And imo it felt subjectively cheap to me after having the blue one! I would never never buy a white one, but as I said taste is very subjective!

It is a smudge magnet. It's dark and glossy...I mean unless you have some kind of special fingers it gets smudgy.
I have a matte skin coming for mine to take care of that and a regular skin on there now that helps, but naked it gets pretty smudgy.

That's what I didn't like about the blue one. The white is just a simple colour, which, looks much more elegant (if you consider only the pattern by itself).
Also, that after a few months I'd look at it and think "Ugh, why did I get this colour?!". Shades of grey, black and white are more neutral. If I had to pick only one colour clothes for the next two years, it wouldn't be blue, so neither is my phone.
But to be honest, the blue being dark is nice. If it had been that dark in grey, I would have definitely picked it. (I think the brushed finish probably would have suited grey better anyway). My white hasn't had any transfer staining so far, but I am slightly worried hearing what others have said. I'll just have to make sure to use only dye-free (clear) cases.
blue
i have had three blue ones because of various faults. after i sent my first blue one back i went to the carphone warehouse to see the white one in the flesh as the replacement date was earlier for the white.
but after comparing it to the blue one i decided to wait for another blue.
again there was unrelated fault and had to send back again, still waited for a blue and very glad i held out as i love it.
just my opinion, maybe because i have a white s2
Hey guys,
Not trolling here, as I'm betting this topic has been beaten to death 6 pages down the forum, but it still puzzles me greatly.
Black or white?
To my eye, black is more sleek and serious, white (silver) is more fancy. How are your experiences in terms of build quality of both? Is it true that black smudges with fingerprints easily, and how view-able are they? Scratch/chip wise, how do both phones behave?
Any honest opinion, I would kill for. Thanks for your time lads.
Think of it like a car. White cars you have a tough time see scratches, but you can tell when it's dirty quicker. Black is the opposite.
i started off determined i wanted black, as I've been using a white SGS3 and I hate the white look in general, but I went to the store to see what it was like in person and it was nothing like I imagined. The black is very matte and not a deep black like i expected. The white (actually silver) on the other hand looks much better in person IMHO.
All in all, you really need to see the product yourself to decide. My Best Buy had both on display for me to check out. As someone who enjoyed the iphone 5 in black, the htc one's black model does not resemble it much at all and ends up looking a little bit cheaper to me. I'm going to end up getting the silver model.
silver color is good...
the metal underneath both finishes is silver. if you nick the black finish you will see silver. if you nick the silver finish, you will see more silver. which situation is more noticeable?
personally i believe a) if you could somehow keep your phone from getting dinged, black looks cool (even if it is more of a charcoal gray and not exactly black) and b) putting a great-looking and -feeling phone in a case is a waste of good design unless you expect to drop your phone at some point and/or care about resale value. (and besides if you have a case on your phone, the case obscures much of the phone's original finish anyway.)
because i am a) pretty sure my phone will experience a little wear and tear and yet b) i would prefer to use it without a case, i am guessing silver will make me happier in the long run even if black seems slightly more appealing now. and i mean *slightly* : honestly , both look good.
oh and it's not clear if the developer edition will ever come in black. HTC is saying no for now. not sure what to expect later on though.
black one gonna give lots of residual + finger prints in future usage. U will notice it really much, but if you going to get the case doesn't matter, silver looks more stylish and appealing high end device in your hand.
I have the black One and I am very happy about it. Had it 10 days now and only one tiny noticeable scratch at the top edge. Very very small one and easily covered by a black marker.
I have to day, I don't regret getting the black at all, it's so cool and stylish IMHO. It does attract more fingerprints but wipe it wit.your cloth easily clean it, I was a bit worried but not anymore since I.actually got the phone.
Of course, I don't abuse my phone, but don't avoid using it, it's always naked in my.pocket alone.
Oh, the back is quite durable I dropped it from knee high and.it landed on the back on wood floor, not a single mark.
Silver, ive had black phones all my life, its time for a change
i have a black car too..
I went for Silver too, never been a big fan of black phones. Or white ones, for that matter! really like the brown Galaxy S3 my girlfriend uses, and my old Desire HD had a bit do a brownish tint to it. Only had my silver One for a couple of hours so far, but it's stunning - very happy with it and it frames the display nicely. one day when we have true edge-to-edge displays then black would look amazing, but until then I think I'd prefer a silver, grey or brown.

I hate it when a glossy phone gets all smudged up with fingerprints and either you:
A) Constantly have to clean it
or
B) Have it look like #%&!
It seems like the white version of the S4 won't show fingerprints the way the black one does. Has this swayed anyone's decision out there who wanted to go black but ended up going white?
Of course... Samsung could have avoided their black version looking like #%&! by simply putting a texture on the outside of the back plate like they did with the Galaxy S2... but I guess that would be too simple
The S4 has a faux texture, but I see what you mean. I picked the white since it was all they had at the store. We got another white and a black on preorder and I'll make my decision then.
FWIW I much preferred the black GS2 over the white.
I'm going with white because it repeals heat (or won't be as hot). If you get black, well, prepare for a game of hot potato.
I've got black, the fingerprints are very hard to see because of the texture.
That really only matters if you are putting the back of the phone in direct sunlight.

Dark colors traps heat. I have the S3 in pebble blue. When I play hd games, or use for extended period, the phone becomes hot. Add to the fact that I have a black case on it. My sis-in-law has a white s3. She's a power user, but every time I touch her phone, I don't feel much heat. She has a light colored case on hers.
To make it plainer, go outside dressed all in black & stand in the sun for a few hours. Then tell me how you feel

Black pigments absorb all visible colors of light. That is why they appear black to you. They take up that light as heat (not gonna explain the long way, so don't freak out, physics majors) so you feel warmer. White stuff reflects all visible colors, which is why you see the white sunlight reflected onto your eyes. They don't take up the energy from that reflected light, so they don't get as hot.
Your comparison only makes sense if the backs of the phones are constantly in direct sunlight, in which case the heat generated by the phone itself is trivial. The only way there could be a difference between the two models is if they use different materials for each one, and I highly doubt that is the case. In your situation, I would be willing to bet that the cases you have on the phones are made from different materials, in which case one is a better conductor than the other.

BTW, your name (the first word), is my middle name, minus 1 extra letter.
yes Jihad I ment it in this way Iam an engineer so I know all this things thats why I disagree Saturny's explain and doesnt make sence to me. So finaly the difference in the heat thing will be only on direct sunlight as black SGS3/4 couldnt cool up and dissipate the heat from stressed components...so white or black doesnt care...in my country will by black after a week maybe more than a week so I'll take white today...
Hey guys, I am struggling to decide on which color to import. I have traditionally always had black phones, but the white body in screenshots at least looks really good.
Are there any advantages/disadvantages to going white vs. black with the Z3c?
I've always had black phones too. I bought a used white moto x a couple months back. I love it more and more every day. I definitely getting the white z3c. The black one just looks boring.
I went for the white one. Have had several black phones and wanted a change. Would have done the red / orange model but the black bezel looks tacky to me.
I did white too. Should shoe fewer fingerprints than black.

I went for Black - looks more professional. I like keeping my phones in cases anyway though
I went for black, never had a white phone, although I do have a niggling feeling perhaps I should have tried white, it does look good.
I ordered the white one. I changed it to the red one awhile later. I saw a video of the black one and it looks really classy to me so I changed my order to black
I originally wanted the mandarin red, then saw some videos of the mint green and thought that would be really cool, but unfortunately, the green won't be available unlocked for some time yet. After hearing more testimonials about the red and how brilliant it was, I'm convinced it's the right choice. Basically, I wanted anything other than black and white because as safe, classy, and sleek as those choices are, I find them to be rather bland. If I had to choose though, I'd go with white, only because most of my devices have always been black and I wanted something different.
I had a Z1c in black for quite sometimes and bought my brother the Z1c in white and gotta say the white does looks really good. But currently can not really say much about the z3c as it is not available yet in Australia. The best way would have to go and look for yourself which one would suit your taste better. But i would say the white looks good on picture. The only that might be a concern that is the seal around the screen is white as well, just do not know would it be stain over time

TBH I don't get your question at all, since it's purely opinion based.
If there would be a technical difference based on the color, most people would get the color that had the technical upper hand.
You don't ask your friends either if you should have a blonde/brunette girlfriend/boyfriend, since it's all just based on taste.
You are absolutely right but you have to understand that we are all really excited about this phone and we just discuss all kinds of bul**** about it until the delivery agent rings the doorbell and leaves the white box in our hands...

I prefer black because I don't like how the sensor cutout, speaker, and camera lens standout on white.
If I could get black front and white back like my Dev moto x, that would be awesome. I guess I can still do that with a white skin for the back.

Not necessarily. White will show less fingerprints, but might discolor over time. There are a few objective traits each color exhibit, and since I feel torn between the two aesthetically, I wanted to discuss some objective reasons one color might benefit over the other.

it won`t.
At least it didn`t on my white Z.
I think another disadvantage of a white one would be the white front panel making the display appear darker, I think in sunny weather the white could actually "blind" you a little, making the screen a tad more difficult to read.
I've occasionally had overheating problems with sunlight coming in through a car window. White might be helpful.
