Jus restore your firmware using ODIN and after restoring, wipe data.
This will fix the problem.
U can get the firmware from

Hey guys i dont think this question has been asked before(btw i searched then too) but i wanted to ask that if we have a custom ROM installed on our device, can we still update our ROM from Settings>About Phone>Software Update???
sorry if this has been asked before

Sent from my GT-S5360 using xda premium
Simple Ans Is No.. if U downloaded Update u can't install it/update failure ......
May B Some Stock Based Custom Rom ...Software update Work ....But Most Of Custom ROM Update Not Working.......
Software updates also doesn't work if ur stock or any rom is rooted
As sir ^ said it will download but while updating it will stuck around 28% and phone will reboot with message "update via kies"

Software updates works fine in rooted stock roms.i had tried it 3 times.
Dont do it with custom roms or deodexed stock roms.
I also tried to update frome settings but after download it error and say to update via kies. So i also think it is not available in custom or any rooted rom.

Hi guys,
What I want to know is how does the Build Number affect me? Mine is JDQ39.i9505ZHUAME1 but other people have different build numbers. I know this is probably a stupid question but i'm asking it anyway.
Will this affect me in terms of loading custom ROMs?
Will the build number be changed when I install a custom ROM?
If it is changed will this affect my ability to use my carrier?
Thanks for the help

Build number may change with diffrnt roms as they myte be using different firmware as a base for roms
It won't affect ur phone in flashing any Rom as long as its for ur varaiant

Which region of Leaked 4.2.2? U can backup game data from helium app. This app is useful to backup data without root. So I don't have idea about 4.2.2 official.. May be its stable.. If u r using 4.2.2 Russian firmware so u cannot update Indian firmware through ota.. I think its better to flash via odin.. As I don't know about running tracker on triangle away.. I havent tried it..

i dunno which region of leaked version i downloaded from anindya mukherjee's video 'android 4.2.2 on samsung galaxy grand' in the description there ws a link to hotfiles and i downloaded it from thr
and helium app the game data will be backed up to external sd card eh???
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
Yes.. Helium app can backed up to internal and external storage. There is option backup to internal or external SD card..
By the way u don't know about 4.2.2 firmware.. Okay.. What's the build number and baseband version? U may need to see.. Go to settings-> About device. U will see that baseband and build number there.. If u found it..

AFAIK Leaked 4.2.2 is not belong to any region... better u Backup ur current rom through cwm on extsd....download ins 4.2.2 n flash it through odin...now if u r satisfied with it just root it...restore ur game data....if not just flash cwm n restore ur 4.2.2 (leaked) backup....or wait for some ins 4.2.2 user reviews....

Hey,
I have rooted my i9500, kitkat version with CF root method via Odin. And i have successful rooted it. But after that when ever i click on OTA update it gives error of, your device has been modified.... update not available.
And my device status in setting has been changed to custom.
Plz tell me how to solve that. I tried unmount sd card, and cache clear from recovery. Didn't worked.

If u rooted ur phone u wont gona be able to INSTALL updates via OTA coz it changes ur system to CUSTOM. You can download them but NO install them. The unique way is flashing this file downloaded for STOCK RECOVERY :highfive:
Now wanam show status to official. There are many tweaks in this app. Changing color of clock etc. What if delete this app, my status remains to official or change back to custom.
Sent from my GT-I9500 using xda app-developers app
Once you rooted the phone : you have both warranty and official support (OTA) out of the door and you can't do anything to get it back .. unless you buy another S4. Just kidding though, now you'll have to do everything manually. Juste take a look at all the available roms and install the one you like

Hi! So I'm rooted and I want to update my phone but when I try to do it, it says "Your device has been modified. Software updates are not available." So I reset my flash counter using Triangle Away and now it says 'official' and 'O' but still that modified blah blah is still appearing. How do you solve this?

See if that works. IMHO it wont still..
