My 4200mAh multi-volt external battery is not charging my GS4, if anything the GS4 is trying to charge the external batt. The external batt charges my Nexus S with no problems. The charger even shuts down like its not attached to anything but the CM batt icon is spinning like its charging. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.
There's a good chance it is trickle charging, and you are using power almost as fast as it is being replenished through the external batt.
The GS4 uses power faster than the Nexus S.
the output on the charger is 800mA @ 4.8V
I will turn the phone off and see what happens.. The odd thing is that the charger is turning off, like its not charging or the batt is dead.

the first battery charge on the HD is supposed to be a 8 or 10 or 12 hour charge? or on its not necesary
also the time used to charge it to the pc via usb cable is same as if ud plug it in the electric socket?
how long dose it take for u to charge ur phone.....
mine had 4 lines out of 10 and after 3 hours of it beeing conected to my pc and not in use its still got 4 lines....
opinions seem to vary on how long for 1st charge - personally I left mine on (mains) overnight, but that's just because I've had mobiles since year dot, and you used to have to!
But charging via PC doesn't seem to work as well as from the mains charger - depends a lot on the PC and how much juice it kicks out, some are a lot better than others.
Modern phones/batteries do not need "overnight" charging. My Touch HD even came with a little note saying you don't need to charge for 16hrs/overnight. Just charge until it's full...
Better to charge with wall socket because not all USB ports provide enough current. Some can't charge through the USB port while some can.
I can charge through my notebook but it takes a lot longer than the wall socket.
thanks bouth of u for the fast anwsers....
When I set WiFi settings to max performance, my HTC HD will not charge at all, actually it will loose charge during night, display is off, just WiFi, GSM and GPS is active, connected to provided wall charger. Back side of phone is really hot, I measured over 54°C
Problems charging.
guys(and lady's) Just got my HD. been running it for some time to drain the battery, while on my laptop the battery starts charging. I wanted to drain the battery to give it a good charge afterwords so I turnd off the option of charging while unit is active( in batt. menu) but When I got to 5% batt.cap. an tried to charge the unit (batt. option enabled again) it doesn't charge. now my batt. is empty and can't get in the phone. while on power my battery charging led gives a couple of seconds of charge indication then it turns off.
Any suggestions or is my battery dead. (charging unit is oke, and when on power the HD does give sufficient power to the battery (measured with mulitmeter) thx guys edit - Als when on power green and amber lights blink.
Could that be that your battery is too hot ? There is some safety protection that prevent the batyery to charge when it is over a temperature level.
battery not charging properly
My touch hd not charge the battery more then 50% i change the battery but same as before.
any suggestion

Not sure what's going on there, but try draining the battery to almost empty each time and then turn your phone off before charging it. Do this a few times and see if it helps. Mine took about a month beforeit came good.
Dear samlives
Thanks for helping
I will try it

HTC Touch Battery Charging Problem
I got a solution its not 100% but for time being its working for me.
Long press the power button and put the device in sleep mode.
All Done now charging 80 to 90% quite better then before.
Thanks a lot
OK, first I admit, the battery is a POS. I usually have enough battery life to make it through a full day, but usually it will die in the evening before I go to bed and put it on charge.
Recently I got a message, "Charging current is not enough for device power consumption. Please connect your AC adapter." Strange thing, though, it WAS connected to my AC charger. I get the same message with both of my chargers.
Battery will not charge, but has just enough power to keep the phone running as long as there is charge already in the battery. So the battery is almost dead, I put it on the charger all night long, get up in the morning and take it off, and then it beeps extra low battery! and then dies shortly after.
The only way I can get it to work is to leave the phone powered off for a long period of time and charge it then. Doesn't always work though. works if I take out the battery and charge it all by itself on a USB phone battery charger.
Sounds like the problem is somewhere in the phone, not with the chargers. Why would both of them do the same thing?
Please help.
does it do the same thing when plugged in and charging via USB??
could be a bad battery...
from old phones i had previous to my magic it sometimes helped to clean the contacts on the battery and charging pins on the phone..
I'll check that...
BTW, if I am plugged into an AC adapter, is it supposed to stay on even if I remove the battery?
NOPE! same message. Been charging all day now and only shows just over half charge on the battery. Most of this is from the hour or so that I had the battery out and charging on its own.
so i was using my phone like normal then all of a sudden it turned off. now evey time i try to turn it on it just turns itself off when it gets to the tmbile screen.... what do i do.
check for bent battery pins, if not that, take out the battery, plug in usb cable on wall charger not pc, and then insert the battery. it should try to charge without trying to start the phone. Let it charge for a few hours.
ok got it to turn on. but when i charge it the battery doesnt take a charge. i have the symbol and light but it isnt going up. as soon as i pull the cable it turns off. i think it might be the battery or a crappy charger. it isnt the stock one. also before this happened the charger would take forever to charge. on my buddies charger it would take about an hour for a full charge.... this is frustrating
ah yea, cheap charger, ive read where they seem to cause dodgy batteries. Does the charge light flash orange and green?
no steady orange
In my experience with HTC products, you HAVE to use either the stock charger or one that puts out 1 amp of current. Most 3rd part chargers put out like 500mA which is enough to charge the battery, just terrible slowly which reduces its overall life. Its just like if you exclusively use a USB port on your PC to charge your phone, it takes forever, and it will decrease battery life.
Hey,
Anyone having the same issue ?
It's very strange because it happens somedays, someothers not at all.
Basically I plug the note to charge, it displays charging, but when I come back an hour later or so... the note is at 1% charge, like it just depleted itself and is just living out of juice sucked out of the charger...
This happens when I plug it in the wall charger most of the time.
When I plug it through USB on my computer (lower charging output) it never does this. And that's also how I managed to recharge my battery to 100% after the first time it did that.
But a week later, now it's the second time and it start to get annoying.
Anyone has any idea ? Is the charger defective or the battery ? Or worse the battery controler ? Anyone knows how to reset battery stats on the galaxy note ? Thanks.
I had the same problem on another type of phone with a usb charger
Would charge sometimes, sometimes not fully charge and then sometimes not at all.
Turned out to be the charger, just get another charger from somewhere
(I find the 10Watt/2.1amp IPad Apple chargers are good quality and provide heaps of juice for quick charging)
I don't actually suffer from battery life problems like some other owners. My problem is that it takes for ever for my phone to charge. My phone has been charging over USB attached to my computer for 8 hours and is only at 83%. When it's attached to the mains it's pretty much the same story. I'm not running any apps. 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth are turned on though.
How can I resolve this problem?

well, if plugged into a computer/usb, itll take much longer to charge. are you using the original usb chord? when plugged into a wall charger, how long does it take?
Current draw is about 700mah on average. Battery size is 2100mah. So it should take 3 hours to charge with the wall charger.
USB is another story. If you charge and surf at the same time it will be consuming battery rather than charging.
The problem seems to occur when I don't use the original USB wall charger. Are not all USB chargers the same? When I use the original charger, I don't seem to have this problem.
If WiFi was left on while charging on a computer USB port, would this effect the charging speed?
