[Q] AOSP ROMs - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I think I know the answer but wanted to be clear regarding BT issues with AOSP based roms. This is a known issue correct? Just wanted to know for sure if any AOSP roms having BT working when making calls. Not really interested in BT music but BT calling is a must for hands-free calls. Wanted to give Illusion, Carbon and/or PacMan AOSP roms a try. Also wanted to know for sure if AOSP comes with the Hotspot mod. Thanks.

Bluetooth - Kernel or Rom?

I finally flashed a custom rom and kernel on my stock evo. All is great!, except bluetooth.
I use bluetooth in the car to stream. After flashing, the audio sounds like crap again, like it did after Sprint initially pushed 2.2 with the new Froyo bluetooth stack. It is/was a known issue with the new stack. Sprint/HTC has since fixed/worked around this issue.
So what is responsible for bringing this back, the rom or the kernel?
Is there a way to keep what I've got but tweak the bluetooth?
Netarchy 4.3.2 cfs sbc more havs
MikFroYo 4.5
Thanks,
Brandon

the bluetooth stack is in the kernel
Funny thing is that with CM7 bluetooth ad2p sounds great no matter which kernel I run, but with a sense rom ad2p sounds horrid no matter which kernel I flash. Enjoying 53 bitpool right now with CM7 vs 32 bitpool you get with sense roms.
I'd like to know if anyone knows which kernel has the best bluetooth stack.
I've been having a lot of connection issues. Sometimes my headset will connect to both phone and audio functions, and sometimes it will only connect to audio. To fix it I will have to unpair the headset and then pair it again. Serious pain in the butt.
I have a Plantronics 8-(something, lol I dont remember, it's the one that you can use as a single headset or add an attachment earpiece for stereo) and I have a Plantronics Backbeat. I have connection issues with both of them.
This never happened when on sense that I can recall....But I am not giving up Wiimote Control or CM. At least not yet. Like I said, it's really annoying when you try answering the phone and your BT headset has decided it only wants to connect to media and not the phone. >.<

Thanks. Does anyone know of any kernel's with cfs, sbc, and havs-more that have excellent A2DP quality?

That's the magic question right now I think. I don't know of any fully fucntional Kernels that allow you to have every feature built in. It depends on your hardware. For me, I'll take fully functional over scheduling/underclocking. I'm running Snap 7.6 on a 003 build and everything works. I had a bunch of problems with my apps when I tried to enable Turbo so I had to reflash everything and left Turbo disabled. Battery life is basically like stock and the device runs a bit warm.
Well, I saw Savaged-Zen had a newer kernel out, so I flashed their 0.0.5 last night. So far so good...No connection issues so far. I have been listening on my backbeat all morning and it sounds great, might want to give it a shot. Im using the BFS -No SBC.
Thanks. I'm playing with aosp's now to find a fix.

[Q] Bluetooth problem with non-sense ROMs

This one is driving me to madness... On all Sense based ROMs, my Bluetooth connects to my car, BOTH PHONE AND AUDIO, no problems. On CM7 and AOSP ROMs I get phone only, but no streaming audio... This issue is consistent and replicatable across different ROMs, releases, Kernels, with or without wipes, etc. Any ideas?

Bluetooth Media Audio Profile issues on Lollipop (Android 5.0)

Hi everyone,
I'm in need for some serious help here and I can't express enough how grateful I will be to whoever helps me out here.
The phone I'm using is a Galaxy S5 SM-G900F.
I used to be on 4.4.2 Stock ROM and I flashed XtreStoLite INTL 2.2 ROM (Android 5.0) and now my car Bluetooth connects to my phone but only shows "Call audio - Use for phone audio" Bluetooth profile and not "Media audio - Use for media audio" Bluetooth profile as it used to when I was on 4.4.2.
This means I take calls on Bluetooth and everything regarding calling works well (I can even download Mono Bluetooth Router and streamed mono music through that) but I can't stream music/sound (for example, GPS directions) from my phone to the Bluetooth in my car (A2DP style, you know, the regular).
It is important to note that on a different Bluetooth Speaker I have (NudeAudio), everything works well and as expected and both profiles are visible which is all the more confusing.
I searched on Google and came across these two interesting threads:
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/nexus/pioR9Zo-mUc <-- This is exactly my problem
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=79488
It's as though they've revamped the way the Bluetooth profiles are read so my phone only recognizes the Phone Audio channel.
This is one of the features I use most with my phone and if anyone knows of any solution to this I would be so incredibly thankful!
If it's not working with a custom ROM, chances are it's a problem with that ROM
Flash stock and test

Thank you for the input.
Considering that the ROM I used is very close to the stock ROM and I have had no other issues - I would love it if there was some way to handle this issue specifically.
If anyone knows of some tools or something that could help me with troubleshooting this Bluetooth profile issue - that'd be great.

Bluetooth Earphone Doesn't Work During Voice/Video Call

All the non eui roms seems to be working fine besides using my bluetooth earphones to talk on the phone.
I love having custom roms but having that problem just kills it all.
I've tried all types and versions of non eui roms from Android 6.0 to 8.0, doesnt work.
Can anyone fix this problem?
