I notice this problem just a few hours ago, and it's driving me nutts! This are the errors that I am having with this problem:
1. If I try to Unmount it, it will give me this error "Damage USB Storage, Try reformating". I also use other MicroSD Cards that I have but also has the same problem. Tried reformating , unmounting, mounting back again but no changes.
2. If I try to put in some files (videos over 1Gb in file size) and esp. folders, like those associated with Titanium Backup, for some reason at the middle of the file transfer, the phone will automatically reboot.
3. I have this app called USB Mass Storage Enabler (Google PlayStore). If i try to use the Mass Storage Mode, it will tell me "Failed to Unmount"
4. If I unmount my MicroSD Card, it will mess up some of my apps, it will turn them grey then if I try to access those grayed-out apps, I will receive an error message of "Application Not Installed!"
What could be causing this?
I am currently using Wanamlite v1.3 for GT-i9500. I am currently downloading a Stock XXUBMEA. Don't know if this is an issue with Wanamlite. Hope this stock fimrware fixes this.
Hope some out there can help me. Many thanks!

Thanks for the tip! Flashing a stock firmware solved the problem. It seems to be an issue with the ROM itself. Will report this to Wanam later on

So I had stock firmware running rooted and using chainfires lag fix(ext3).
Today I tried to do the free sim unlock and it seemed to work fine.
Upon next reboot I kept on getting FC on all my apps, including launcher pro. Now I am getting a message saying that my memory is full and all the good stuff. I might have screwed something up when I was getting the blm3 file but my question is what is my best way to proceed, should I try to just revert back using chainfires exe or should I just use Odin and reflash the firmware.
If I reflash the firmware using Odin, how can I clean the internal sd card so I do not have remain of crap on it from the lagfix?
Thanks.
you could always get ROM Manager, and try a "fix permissions" it may help.....
can't install anything from market, freezes at starting download, also all my apps the built in ones show as 0 bytes space
I will most likely reinstall, too bad because everything was perfect before it all broke.
is your SD card mounted?????

yes, both internal and external sd cards are mounted, I can see them in the "files" application and in terminal emulator
u cant install any apps when sd cards are mounted, u have to unmount them.

lol, dude. They're mounted on the phone not on the pc
wtf lol, i probably should have been more specific haha but yeah idk...
could you push the rom manager apk with adb? or you could try applying the lagfix again. I think your best options would be to either nandroid back, or better yet ODIN back, then unlock(you have the key), then root, then install all the goodies.
Maybe try reverting the lag fix? Is there an undo script for the particular lag fix method you used?

undid the lagfix and market was broken still, I ended up doing an Odin restore on my gf's pc (32 bit windows) x64 was getting stuck.
All in all not bad, and me being stupid, I am applying the lagfix again on the fresh install. Once I know how to do it, it's a cakewalk.
Thanks Peeps.
I have many problems with my two month old defy plus..some problems are really strange and i cant really understand if its a problem with the phone or the sd card...
i am gonna explain all of them.
1. SD card problem..the sd card causes a lot of problem ..the most affected application is swiftkey..after days of working correctly..suddenly a message pops out unable to load language packs..and the keyboard becomes unusable.on unmounting and mounting the sd card..the problem sumtyms goes..sometimes not.
2.applications go missing on their own.
3. transferring files via bluetooth is very very hard...only zip files can be transferred..and sometimes when the transfer fails..the phone has to be rebooted to start transferring again..or sd card has to unmounted and remounted
4.on switching on the phone error messages comes such as " unparseable date"..
5n deleting any folder from the mem card via file explorer..the swiftkey keyboard failes showing messages like unable to load languagepacks or failed to store dyanamic language
6 droid sail frequently fails to move apps to sd card..although my phone is rooted..error messages such as no root no usb debugging is shown..although both of them are on
7:sms back up software not working..it shows write access denied..
8 titanium pro cant be installed.it shows that memory is not available although i have 1 gb of free internal memory
and my last question..will CM9 solve these problems??????
please reply
Please inform your ROM, it may help us identify your problem.
But seems to me that your SD Card is corrupted, try inserting it on a computer and formatting it (backup your stuff first).

You could check sdcard for errors in Windows (right click on sdcard drive letter & select check for errors) . Windows will correct it automatically. This way u won't loose any data on your sdcard. Don't forget to unplug it safely in windows afterwards, otherwise it may become corrupted again.

yes i am having a lot of problems with the stock firmware...i have a question from you..can u transfer apk files directly from your laptop to your mobile via bluetooth or do you have to zip it first???in my mobile only zip files can be send via bluetooth..nothing else is accepted.
Did you find a fix about sd card problem? I found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1596997 but i don't know if the fix works with GB kernels. I have a 2.3.4 stock rom, and i can't write on my sdcard, i can only read it.
Do you have a high class card?
are you using a 32 gb card if yes downgrade to a lower capacity,
or you can try a class 10 card if u r using a class 4 card
or u can use ur large capacity card latter on if u upgrade ur defy plus, say after ur warranty is complete
i am not suggesting trying a new rom because ur defy is just 2 months old and gingerbread is not outdated al the apps come for it

Tried a new Rom [XT907 Rom][Mod][UnLocked boot] Telstra JB 4.1.2-9.8.2Q-SD Swap, Xposed... from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51063985, but it borked my dialer and contacts app, but it fixed my bluetooth and made radio better...lol it also made my sdcard into internal storage and my internal storage into sdcard...
Ive been trying all day to install new contacts and dialers from various other roms but not getting anywhere. keep getting errors when trying to install using adb like "install parse failed" or "install failed shared user imcompatible" and when i try and install in the phone i just get "not installed". kind of wish i knew what i was doing...any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Describe "borked." What exactly happens when you try to use the apps? Borked doesn't narrow it down at all.
sorry for my inaccurate language...
I got a copy of touch pal which now allows me to dial and store contacts. I think i have almost everything working now except my sdcard is recognised as internal storage and my internal storage is recognised as sdcard.
Not sure how big a problem this is...but trying to run appextractor app to get my old contacts and sms data but that wont run - it says it needs an sdcard to run and then closes, but my sdcard is inserted. I would guess these 2 things are related.
Any help would be very much appreciated...

I believe the ROM you flashed has a SD card swap mod built into it. You'll need to undo the mod or flash another ROM that doesn't have the swap.
Yea it seems your right sorry i know i shuda read all the links before i flashed...thanks for help
I have the Developers Edition of S5 and I successfully flashed recovery TWRP and root last night. I tried backing up apps to ext sd card in Titanium Backup but it keeps saying insufficent storage available error. However i can install play store apps without problems. I have over 5GB of data free. And my sd cards wont show via usb over computer on Mac. The option is grey out and android transfer doesnt work displaying an error message to restart device but it doesnt work either. USB debugging is enabled. I installed and uninstalled kies3 for Mac which also wont work. Any suggestions on these problems that can fix them? I'm pretty frusterated at the moment. I didnt have this problem with my HTC Rezound before.

1) you need to have sdcard access via root to write to it. Blame kitkat. Use this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sdfix
2) I can all but guarantee your backup exceeds your available 5gbs free, that's why it's failing. Backup one or two apps and I bet they go through.

Thanks, this will save me from having to make the config changes myself to fix the stupid broken app permission setting when I root my new dev edition =)
tl;dr
The card is tested and good (results below), the card reader is good (tested by reinstalling 5.7.4).
So few other people are having this issue, what is going on with my phone?
--
I've read and read, but no matter what I try, I can't get my SD card to work.
Here's the details of how, and what, I installed on my Sprint S5.
I'm coming from Resurrection Remix 5.7.4 MM, (where the SD card worked fine, but did have a few issues with the camera (used open camera instead) and some post reboot oddness (shortcuts disappearing)).
I first formatted card using the windows software sdformatter to FAT32
copied files to SD card using a card reader plugged into PC.
Files copied
RR-N-v5.8.2-20170304-kltespr-Official.zip
open_gapps-arm-7.1-micro-20170327.zip
UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.79-20161211114519.zip
TWRP 3.X
wiped dalvik/cache/system/data
then factory reset
added files to zip queue, Rom, then Gapps, then SU
Flashed
Phone boots fine, initial set up completes.
Tried a reinstall of apps using Ti Pro, but it failed, so started again and used google apps restore during boot. Issues with many apps. So started again, with a "fresh start" option during set up.
I took a few pictures.
I can view them immediately after taking, by pressing the previously taken image image inside the camera app.
Open default Gallery and get the error "No storage. No external storage available."
I installed a+ gallery and it is able to open the images just fine.
Default Files app can browse the SD card.
Aldiko will not download books, as it thinks there is no SD card installed
I've tried (and checking each time)
formatting in card as internal, then back to portable in phone.
Clearing the data/cache for the apps giving errors.
factory resetting
Wiping and formatting the card (on PC to FAT32), and starting again (several times).
Started from scratch again, with a brand new Sandisk card
Tried ZepherOS Zephyr-N Version (Viserion-6.1) Android 7.0
Wiping cache/dalvik only and rebooting
Same "No storage..." error, every time.
I tried ZephrOS. Right after install there is no file manager, but if I click the default app "downloads", I can navigate to the camera folder, then to the image. When I click on it, it opens the image, but still shows the same error "no storage..." even though I'm looking at the image behind the error window. :/
I'm running H2testw, but don't expect an issue, as the same error was on the previous card and the brand new card.
Can I go from 7.0/7.1 to a stock ROM without issues, if so which one?
Update:
SD card test result
Test finished without errors.
You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again.
Writing speed: 7.15 MByte/s
Reading speed: 15.7 MByte/s
H2testw v1.4
UPDATE #2:
I started fresh with a new install of RR 5.7.4 and the card does still have issues with some apps, but is working fine with others. Open camera works fine, and the gallery access the correct card in this ROM. Aldiko still fails as it's trying to download to /sdcard
Most apps are looking for /sdcard but I have /sdcard1
If it helps, it appears sdcard is symlinking to /storage/self/primary
Anyone able to help?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, settings>apps>settings>App permissions>Storage is turned on.
Aldiko, for example, is looking for /sdcard but it doesn't exist. I'm thinking a symlink might fix the issue? But am not familiar enough with Android under the hood, to know what other issues that might cause.

FAT32 this was recommend in most places I read. I thinks it's a paths issue. I'm not sure the format would make a difference to that, right?

A fresh install would resolve any path issues. The device can't read the card, which means that it's formatted incorrectly or is incompatible. How did you format it originally? On a computer? Go into the storage menu, and if it's detected, then try using the native Android option to reformat it. Back up your stuff first.
If that fails, try formatting it in recovery.

Thanks, I know the OP was long, but I hoped the details of what I'd already tried would be appreciated. I did several fresh installs trying to fix, and formatted every which way I could in phone and on a PC. Nothing has worked.
I've kind of given up on this and have decided to switch to Verizon. Sprint sucks so bad, after 10 years I've finally had enough, so I have to replace the phone anyway.
If you know of a decent phone to get, I'm looking for a recommendation in this thread, https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/switching-to-verizon-200-phone-t3588790
Thanks for your attention to my issue. Sorry it's left unresolved. I run my own business and just can't spend this much time fixing my phone.
