I get this message while in Kies
"This Device's version cannot be updated"
I have the I5801 with Orange network, i flashed the firmware to
InDroid v2.0 XXJPL Final Version (rudolf895) Also a great Rom
Been a noob i never made a backup of the old firmware Is that just a standard message? "This Device's version cannot be updated"
If not, how do i get Kies to work with the phone again?
With the 2.2 firmware coming soon i would like to try it
Thanks for any help
That is the message you get when there is no update available for download. I don't think Samsung has released Froyo update for UK yet..so you need to wait I guess..
When the update is released officially, you will first need to download your original ROM from samfirmware.com, flash it to replace your custom ROM & then Kies will upgrade the ROM with official version.
HI! I'm a noob . I want to flash a custom froyo rom, im tired of waiting for official kies update. So I need the original firmware from samfirmware.com incase something goes wrong or i want to update via kies, the problem is i don't know witch one to download. I'm from Europe, Croatia, bought my phone in T-mobile, went to service store and removed sim lock.
This is what my phone says:
Firmware version
2.1-update 1
Basic version
I5800XXJG3
Kernel
2.6.29 root
Version number
ECLAIR.XXJG7
on samfirmware there is I5800XWJG3 and I5800XWJG7
official froyo rom was released in india a few days back.
you can download it from samfirmware and flash it with odin
firmware is i5801DDJP2
its not the point in the official froyo or any newer firmware. the point is my original eclair firmware, so when i need i can get back to ir
oh i misunderstood your question. sorry i have no idea about that
I5800XXJG7 is your firmware i think
To make sure: call to *#1234#. And look at pda

I bought my Galaxy SL from Egypt; however, I've lost my original ROM. I've tried both I9003JPKD1 and I9003JPKE1 (Both are Arabic), yet kies still complains it can't update the version. I've problems with these 2 ROMs. The perfromance is sluggish and the camera hangs a lot. I need to use Kies to update to the original firmware my phone came with. Is there anyway to do this?
Kies wont update the version as Samsung has not officially released any for this phone.
you will need to flash other ROM using the Odin and all info about that is already available just check the flashing guide and be careful as you might loose your warranty.

Yes, I flashed the only 2 Arabic firmwares available on samfirmware using Odin; however, it seems both of them were signed in KSA and not Egypt. Where can I find an Egyptian ROM?
I have the same problem here

1. Download Kies Software and run it. (www.samsung.com/us/kies)
2. Connect your phone via USB to computer.
3. Kies will tell you if it needs to update or not. (you must be online)
4. If update available, simply click on "Update" button. :good:
If you have android 4.2 you must install "Kies". "Kies version 3" is for Android 4.3 devices.
If you flash a Stock Rom via Odin, you still will be able to update OTA.

Did you rooted your device before?
If you have rooted device your device status is shown modified or custom so you can not update with kies or OTA. Use Wanam Xposed to fake this situation into "Official".
Before that you may try Triangle Away.
NOTE: Use above apps at your own risk.
I'm on Manjaro Linux can't use Kies, I tried it in virtualbox, didn't work as expected. I live in Lebanon, so no A&T version or anything like that, I need standard firmware.
I have galaxy A5, current version 4.4.4, I want to upgrade to lollipop. Isn't available from settings > software update. I want to download it and do it manually, my device isn't rooted yet, will root it soon.
Model Number: SM-A500H
Serial Number: RF1G7OO784
Found one here, first one, but I don't know if I can trust the source and it's Uzbekistan, I don't know if I should use it. Note that Kies in virtualbox detected some firmware, I just couldn't install it, so there is a firmware out there.
Just google "download lollipop a500h" or something else. There are websited to download them. Just unzip the files and flash them with odin
Sent from my SM-A500H using XDA Free mobile app
find and download the firmware, then flash with odin. what variant of the A5 you have?

I can vouch for Sammobile, have downloaded firmwares from them before, and a lot of well known developers recommends the site too. You need to download the one that fits your country, eventual carrier, csc code and PDA version.
