SlimKat. Incoming call LED light color.
Im having trouble changing notification light for incoming call (not missed, but the light while phone actually ringing). LightManager and built-in settings do a good job for all lights except this one. It stays white-ish.. I assume some code in systemui needs to be changed? Please, help.
Could someone recommend color settings for faux123's color temperature correction app ? I'd like to find just a genetic setting to help fix the washed out appearance the colors have by default?
I set PIN to unlock screen, but when i lock the screen only slider works, never appear the keypad for insert PIN.
Anyone have PIN to unlock working in weekly 8.9?
@bart.found
No problem here
I'm having troubles using miracast... I don't know why.. But I tryed to connect my mako with a samsung smart tv and with a lg smart tv... Same result! Connection starts, but after a second it disconnect...
Edit: could it be kernel related?
Nexus 4 with slimkat receiving OTA update?
Hello,
I have a Nexus 4 with slimkat 4.4.4 and I just received a notification to download lollipop by google.
Is it normal? If I do the download, what would happen?
Really hope you can help me because I though I wouldn't receive more OTA updates since my custom rom.
Thank you all!

I was really surprised as well. If you check out which app brings it up, it turns out the entire OTA thingy is managed through Google Play Services app. Seems like updating may temporarily brick your device or return you to stock ROM.
But that also brings another question: when will Slimpop/SlimLP nightlies start to show up for our makos?
Is the current SlimLP based on 5.0.1 already?
(less than 10 posts so I reply here, original post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57585383&postcount=8497 )
@brordavid "Anyone experience problem with Netflix on slimlp? It won't start at all, it just shows the Netflix logo and the loading ring for a while, and after a while it gives me an error that it cannot connect."
Yes, I have exactly the same. Error is: "Sorry, We Cannot Reach the Netflix Service (-9)". I tried all what Netflix help pages suggested (reboots, reinstalls) but no help.
Here is logcat from Netflix app startup to error -9: http://pastebin.com/MEnPasAa
I have a problem in incall ui in slimkat stable 9 (clean flash).. my contact pictures when I call (or being called) someone are bigger than they should be, anyone experiencing the same problem?
Slim-mako-5.1.1.alpha.0.3- and f2fs
Hello
please tell me the current status of f2fs on the Slim-mako-5.1.1.alpha.0.3-UNOFFICIAL-20150521-2151 release mentioned here
Do I need to follow the instructions as described here
and edit the actual ROM, or is f2fs support built in now?
I know that data and cache need to be formatted as f2fs, but is that enough, or do I need to modify the ROM itself
thanks
Daniel
Cant seem to get Franco 217 working. Just get boot loop when flashing it. Any suggestions?

Decompile lollipop's framework-res
This my first post on XDA though I've always kept an eye on this wonderful forum. As I'm sure of many my fellow Android fans I downloaded hanspampel lollipop image, unfortunately I wasn't able to decompile framework-res apk using apktool lastest build (RC2). I don't know if it's against the hanspampel's rules to modify apks but I only change the lux numbers in order to reduce brightness and make my tablet (Nexus10) usable in darkness.

This does not answer you question about the framework but a non-framework alternative is the app "Lux" which allows customized brightness settings adapted to your preference under changing light conditions. I bought the pro version and heavily use the various profiles so that my custom selections adapt to the light conditions and situations (inside day, inside night, outside day, video consumption). The pro version provides 5 profiles (not with the names that I actually use them for though).
It took me about 3 days to "train" Lux to my preferrences. The profiles can be saved so it took me no time to get back to my settings after I upgraded to Lollipop. Lux has become one of my must have customizations on Android.

I've tried a couple of those "dimming" apps, they seem to apply some sort of layer instead of changing the brightness values.
Edit: Had to remove links I'm not allowed to post links.

Lux changes the brightness values in every case but one. There is a night astronomy mode that adds a red layer. Lux is a superior autobrightness replacement with significantly more personalization. It can't hurt to try the free version.

I downloaded Lux It turns out I ried before, unfortunately it doesn't change the raw Lux values instead it applies a dimming layer. I guess I have to wait for a new version of apktool.
Thank you mate!
It's done! Google launched a new version of apktool and I was able to modify the framework apk. Thanks again for your responds.
I know this is probably a stupid question, but I always want to be absolutely certain of something if it can potentially result in a bricked device. I see in the OP of Hans' Lollipop thread he has zips of the stock recoveries for both 5.0 and 5.0.1. Due to the fact I just flash Hans' zips, I have no need to wait for an OTA. However, if I did want to wait for the OTA, would I just flash the zip of the stock recovery in the Android version I am currently using (which would be the "out of date" one) and then install the OTA update? If that is correct, there would be no reason to flash the newest stock recovery because it would automatically be installed, correct?
im using twrp 2.8.0.1, do a factory reset then wipe cache files. Everything works very smooth and stable. No FC at all and randomly restart.
Thanks hanspampel
no WiFi with LRX22C or LRX21P. Also tried the Possible_WLAN_Fix_updater_script.zip with no luck. (Using TWRP 2.8.2.0)
Went back to 4.4.4 KitKat (from NANDroid backup) until this WiFi issue can be solved.
Thanks anyway to OP.
For some mysterious reasons I wasn't able to flash the 5.01 version even though I was able to flash the 5.0 one. BTW what do you mean by full wipe, factory reset+caches+system, or really a full wipe thus deleting every single bit??
I'm having the same problem with 5.0.1, FC on play services and can't get past "looking for updates". Didn't try 5.0.0 though.
Updated to 5.0.2 and my wifi no workee. Trying a reboot, while wiping cache and dalvik, so we'll see if that helps. Any other ideas? I don't want to factory reset, but will as a last resort.
Quick Question
I am about to switch over to stock lollipop. My nexus is already rooted and I have Twrp installed. I do not mess with the rom a whole lot. However, I plan on doing a complete wipe except the recovery. I noticed a custom kernel and a beta Superuser floating around. I would like to simply keep my device rotted but mover over to the new lollipop stock rom. I have searched forums and there's no clear answer as to the purpose of these two files. So in the interest of being cautious and informed, here are a couple questions:
Could someone explain clearly what I need to do and know create a stable switch from a 4.4 custom rooted device over to lollipop? You can assume I am filled in enough to have done the work the first time, but I don't like seeing special files/ steps floating around that I do not understand.
Why a custom kernel for root?
What's the deal with the SU beta?
And finally: Any suggestions for a stable governor/scheduler for lollipop? (before everyone hops on and says experiment, the point of me asking is to get a couple opinions from people who have done a bunch of experimenting and use the one I like the best- establishing a baseline of performance is helpful as well)
Thanks in advance to reponders. This forum is excellent if a little opaque occasionally. I did try to do my homework in advance. After a couple of hours, I thought I would just ask.
Same here, just came from 5.0.1 (hanspampel) and just installed 5.0.2 (hanspampel) through TWRP 2.8.4.0 after a factory reset and cache/dalvik wipe and nothing but dots for 20mins
5.0.2 not working here, too
Hey Hans,
I also can't get the 5.0.2 to work. Using twrp 2.8.4.0. Md5 matches.
Dirty flashed over 5.0.1 system image incl SuperSu - it came to the optimizing apps, after that: bootloop. Dirty flashed for the 2nd time (because you said so) also bootlooped.
Then wiped data and flashed again: Bootloop. I alaways waited at least 15 mins for the nexus to come up.
(Tried 5.0.0 and .1 earlier, they came up, but wifi could not connect.)
I wonder why the rom works perfect for you, maybe your Hardware differs a little bit... Are you using the 16gb Version? Purchased my Nexus on launch day in play store, also from germany.
All Older 4.x Releases of your rom were working so fine and a conveniant way to update without using the google factory images.
I really hope you can find a fix for this! If I can help you somehow, please tell me.
Kind regards

Downloaded the 5.0.2 zip, went into TWRP 2.8.4.0, wiped system, cache and dalvik cache, unmouted everything, and flashed the zip file. This is coming from stock 5.0.2 without a factory reset, and everything is working fine so far, although I have not rooted yet as I don't really have the need for root any more.

Hanspampel's translucent patch for 5.1
After trying in vain to get translucency on 5.0.2, the 5.1 patch is working now, with one problem: Google Newsstand has stopped working, so I had to freeze it. No other problem as yet. Anyone got any clue?
This seems to be an issue on any CM-based ROM I use, but I really like PAC and the features it has so this is especially troubling to me.
I am on a VZW Galaxy S4 (SCH-I545, I545VRUAMDK baseband) with TWRP recovery, ktoonsez kernel 3.4.104.
Every time I install a CM-based ROM I cannot ever send or receive MMS messages through Hangouts, or any other messaging app.
When I look at Mobile Network Settings and check Access Point Names from within the system settings menu, I see Verizon APN info. The one I have enabled currently is the default VZWINTERNET one.
However, when I go into Hangouts and check my APN info there, I see APN entries for Sprint and MetroPCS. I cannot change any of them, I cannot add any of my own, I cannot manually input Verizon APN info, because they don't ever save. I can delete them all and render my phone unable to send or receive anything, but recover them by restoring default.
It's because of that fact that I believe that this is due to the ROM itself.
I first noticed this a year ago when I was using CM 10 and 11 release candidates, after CM switched to unified builds instead of carrier-specific ones. Since then I've flashed other ROMs like Dirty Unicorns and the like, and the ones that are based off the CM Unified builds always carry the Sprint/MetroPCS APNs in Hangouts.
This prevents me from ever sending or receiving MMS messages from anyone regardless of carrier of origin.
I've tried apps and tweaks to resolve this, but nothing works. The only thing that ever does is switching to a non-CM core ROM, but I like the feature-rich PAC-ROM the most.
Does anyone know of a definitive way of resolving this issue? A hack? A manual change to the system files?
I tried running a search of XDA, as well as good old fashioned Google, but all I can ever find are blog posts with suggestions and "definite" fixes that never work.
At this point I am a little desperate for help. Every time I've posted a help thread, be it here, the S4 official subforum on XDA, or Reddit, or the PAC forums, I get nothing, not a single reply.
I cannot be the only one who has been experiencing this.
Please advise.
Thank you,
I am experiencing this too, and APN settings dont seem to help.

Thank you
I love this rom, is very beatiful and fast... could you add the stock camera s4 please?
My Review!
Here is what I did :
- Install the Philz Touch Recovery.
- Wipe Cache / Data / System then install the ROM (the SHIRO version)
- Boot may take a while, but after that you will then see the setup screen. After setting it up the system launcher will then FC - just like what OP said. What you need to do now is to reboot the phone.
- After rebooting your phone, Install the GoogleInstaller.apk file. You might face problems when opening the installer(unable to connect.. etc) - just keep trying until you see the list of apps. Install the Gmail first (prior to that, you may need to install additional APKs - Google Framework etc. , just continue the installation) then Play Store.
IMPORTANT : Do not open PLAY STORE first. Open Gmail then sign in to you account. After that, open play store. If there would be FCs, uninstall play store and install it again using GoogleInstaller. Also, if you try to install any Google Apps (Youtube, Maps.. etc), make sure open/launch them first.
- Once Play Store has been installed and your account has been setup, you may now try installing APPS you want from the Play Store. I suggest installing Google Keyboard
- Let it update/Let it RUN for 10 mins - do not disconnect your WiFi/Internet Connection.
- At this part, ROM = Smooth and 98% Stable. There are times where System Launcher FC randomly, you just need a reboot.
** - ISSUE #1 : Display Issues. This can be PIXELS appearing randomly on your screen. Once you encounter this, reboot your phone.
So far, 3 random System Launcher FC's and 1 display issues has been encountered. The display issue seems to be fixed now, not sure about the system launcher though.
Which Works on Mine?
- Mobile Data Works.
- GPS
- Bluetooth Works
- Wifi Works
- Battery Life is 8/10 .
- No FC on Apps - successfully installed apps from Playstore with no issues found.
- Camera in use is Google Camera
- No issues found on messages.
Which don't work with Mine?
- Unable to post/insert picture from NOTES app.
Translation Issue
Some apps don't have proper english translation. For example, the Theme and Font store doesn't have english translation. There are some suggestions i found like "Clear Data and Cache" of those apps, but that is just a temporary solution.
Also, when i try to verify my phone number after signing in my MI account, it sends chinese message to my phone. There was an "auto verification", but i think it failed decoding/reading the sent message.
Missing Audio Settings!
Under "Settings"->"Additional settings"->"Headphones and audio effects" - There are no options for changing equalizer, only button settings!
Same as in here!
Hoping for the fix!
My final opinion?
9.5/10 :laugh::laugh:
Thanks OP flatzki!

First, you need to install and use Philz Touch recovery and use it to flash the MIUI v7 rom. This should fix the sim card not detected issue.
Second, your google installer issue is most likely to only be seen on the Rainbow's version of the ROM.
In any case, try clearing App data and cache.
Guys, there is a new miui 7 update from Shiro.....
New Update has been released!
Yaay! New Update..
On the website, here are the list of known bugs (as posted by the developer)
if you have the "sim card not detected" problem, flash the latest philz recovery, then flash the rom.

PLEASE DECODE Even with google translate i'm going nuts..
Can someone explain why the Rain_Bow's version is twice as big as the Shiro's one?
Does Shiro's version has something cut off?
Also I saw some images of MIUI 7 having recent app switcher like iOS one, I'm on Shiro's 5.8.28 and it isn't even close to that, the same as MIUI 5 I had a year ago.
I suppose a lot of features haven't been ported like the one-hand thing where the screen shrinks to 4" and goes to bottom right corner.
Okay I found out that the cool task manager is there, I just had to pinch the screen

Installing MIUI7 over CM12
I have tried this like 10 times. I am on CM12.1 (Android 5.1.1). I have Philz touch installed. Everytime i flash miui the phone gets to the miui bootscreen and stays there. I have read that the first boot takes a lot of time but i think 60 minutes is a bit much...
I have tried shiro rom 5.10.29 and 5.10.30. Also tried the rainbow rom 5.10.xx and now downloading the 5.11.1.
I really wanna try miui, so any thoughts on how to solve my problem are welcome.

On philz, select the option "Clean to install a new rom" before flashing.
On the first boot, you will have a lot of systemUI crash, just reboot and all is ok
EnigmaNL PortSo I'm finally sharing this ROM lol.
A lot of the people that are in my Telegram group already knew about this ROM from long ago. I just felt lazy to upload it to xda. And now I feel bad about it xD
Man, this is the second time I am uploading old stuff that I shared on Telegram and not in XDA. Yikes.
I re-visited the Enigma ROM because I like its looks and features and went ahead and fixed a few things and added a few others
So, here's what you can look forward to with this ROM
Code:
Your warranty is now void.
* We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about flashing this zip file
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you. HARD!
Features!
Port between A7 and Enigma V6.1
Deodexed
Heavily debloated
Zipaligned
Very Optimized
Aroma installer
Multiple kernels
Modded Screen record
Floating Messages
Scroll Capture
Edge Panels
UI and Edge dynamic blur
Fixed Multi-window
Fixed radio
Infinite paid themes in Samsung Theme Store
ROM control filled with features
And stock J2 Prime stuff
Phoenix Kernel features:
Double tap to wake (thanks to @remilia15 for letting us kang *ahem* I mean see how it is implemented xD)
Multi-touch up to 10 finger detection
Our attempt at OC, too bad it's not that good
Scores high in Antutu scores xD
Bugs!Custom kernel included has a few bugs. You can avoid these bugs by installing stock kernel included in Aroma, so you have been warned
Kernel dies when the phone turns off. Either by turning off manually or if the battery dies. This will make you stuck on Samsung splash screen. To fix this, boot to TWRP then select Reboot and then System. Easy fix.
If this does not work, the only way to recover your phone is by flashing stock via Odin

How to report a bug/Ask for a change
Over the small amount of time I've been doing my edits and shared them with the community, I've noticed something that seems to irritate me. I can't speak for all the developers on this forum, but I do edits/ROMs/PORTs/etc... to what I like. I don't work for anybody else but me. I share my work because it may have something of value to other people and/or some people may share the same taste as me on regards to what they want on a ROM.
That being said, that doesn't mean I will completely ignore what the community has to say.
First and foremost, it must be said, I am merely a beginner. I do not claim to be a professional developer that knows how to add everything, I am nowhere close and I learn as I go.
There are ways to ask for something and/or report a bug when it comes to ROMs, and this post is my attempt to try to explain how to (and how not to) report a bug in order to help me out as much as possible to try to fix something
You can also ask for something to be added, but there are also ways to ask for something
So, here we go
Keep in mind:
I do not add stuff that can easily be downloaded from the Playstore
I, myself, don't do kernel edits
I COULD remove stuff if NOBODY uses it
---REPORTING BUGS---
How NOT to report a bug:
"SystemUI (or any app)is crashing, please help!"
"Instagram doesn't allow me to edit my post, what could be wrong?"
"My bank account app is not letting me do such thing"
These posts are sort of pointless as they only state something but I have no context on what could be causing it. Also, I can't really control (for the most part) third-party apps, so if you're going to ask about them this way, don't even bother
A slightly better way to report a bug:
"I clean installed the ROM and was working fine, after I installed Facebook and logged in, I immediately uploaded a photo and SystemUI started to crash. Can you look in to it?"
"I tried to install Black Neon theme (a link to it would work as well) and it was working fine until I tried to activate AOD (or anything else for some reason) and SystemUI (or any other app) is crashing, could you look in to it?"
"My bank account app doesn't let me take a screenshot of my accounts. I get a toast notification saying "Can't take screenshot due to security policy"
As you can see, this provides a bit more context and explanation on your current situation. This gives me a little more detail on trying to replicate the problem and hopefully could fix it by replicating it. Well, except for point #3 which is out of my hands for the most part (I think). If you include what kernel you're using would make everything better! Also any significant change that would require root (like xposed and or anything that modifies /system also needs to be informed for better results)
The BEST way to report a bug:
LOGCAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please learn the ins and outs of a logcat, this really helps a lot on finding what the problem is. Also, please give a brief explanation as the above examples when providing a log cat
---ASKING FOR STUFF TO BE ADDED---
How NOT to ask for stuff:
On your next update, add iris scanner
You should add (app) on your next update
Hey, please add (app or feature) on your next update
No, I do not work for you. Even if you say please like the third example, that doesn't mean you're being polite. It still sounds like an order lol so you should probably rephrase your request.
How to ask for stuff to be added to my work:
Would you be so kind to add (feature) to your ROM, if possible?
Would it be possible to add this app to your ROM?
Please, can you add (feature) to your ROM, if it isn't much to ask?
See how politeness makes everything better? You're not demanding it, you're just politely asking to see if maybe it is within my grasp to add something. And if all request would be like this, I can assure you I'd try my best to add said feature
I hope this is useful to you or I at least hope that some people read it.
If not, I can just tell you to return to stock ROM, probably better than any ROM I put out anyway

[Q] My phone is stuck in bootloop/infinite boot, what should I do?
[A] It is normal for first instalation to take aprox 10-20 minutes on first boot, let it sit for a little bit
[Q] Even after 20 minutes, my phone is still in a bootloop/infinite boot, what can I do?

2. Try the instalation of EnigmaNL again
[Q] My phone will still not boot, what is my last resort?

[A] Please read the "Bugs" section of the thread to see if your bug has been reported, if it hasn't, please let me know exactly what the problem is so I can take a look
[Q] Something bothers me and I want it fixed/changed
[A] Please, kindly make a request and if it's within my grasp, I'll try to fix it. Just, don't be rude and demand something. Either that or return to stock, your choice
[Q] Games don't work on EnigmaNL
[A] Open Galaxy Store and update Game Optimizing Service and all Game related apps, then reboot and they should work again.
Enjoy!
Tested it on my G532M. I think that it's the best custom ROM available for this phone. Very fast, stable and with a lot of free space.
Hmm, link is broken bro?

No, that's pretty much it. I have not worked on any other ROM.
This mod is better than the Hades!
100% Stable.
i'll edit if there's a problem
"ROM Installed Successfully "
Changed Status Bar Icon Colors on SyneXOS RC
All icons changed color but the notification icon is too dark and it doesn't change color at all.
and sometimes the Battery Percentage Color sometimes changes back to then instantly changes it to my seleceted color.
i tried to change color per icon then restart it
"I installed Extra Ordinary Ones but the app always stopped working if i open it, tried to uninstall it my storage still can't free up some space"
Storage Problem still not solved even in Custom ROM

Of course it's not fixed. It will never be fixed by a custom ROM. The problem this device has in partitioning. It's got 3 GB reserved for system and out of those 3, this ROM only occupies 1.7.
That means that there is an unreachable 1 GB of storage.
Your data partition will always be the same. This device will always have storage problems. You can either buy a new device, use something like an adoptable storage or find an app that can move some of your apps to the system partition.
Oooh that sucks.:crying:
Thanks for replying!

Use a kernel adiutor to activate double tap to wake
Interpret only for more storage and normal art for performance
