I have Nook Color running CM 10.1 RC2, I have it dual boot so I can boot into stock (but I may erase soon).
Any video streaming app with the exception of You Tube fails. I can play movies using Vplayer fine, but anything that streams seems to just sit there, either a blank screen or a busy circle in the middle, Eventually, the app comes back and asks me to wait of close.
I use a VPN or SmartDNS for my BBC iplayer and other UK needs. For Watch ESPN I use my regular. All these apps work on my HTC Rezound.
Is there something I need to do like change the name of the device in some setting to make this work any thoughts ?
I have not tried Hulu, but as all the others have failed I believe it will as well.
Has anyone come across this ? Are these apps too much for the Nook Color and should move on to the HD+ ?
I can move back to single boot for CM 10.1 if I need to.
Thanks
Tiberius.

A few months ago while we were all still running Flash Player 10.1 I found both a Flash Player mod AND a Hulu app that worked with the mod. Surprisingly enough, once Flash Player 10.2 came out that mod still worked. Unfortunately though that mod no longer works with Flash Player 10.3. Does anyone know a new Flash Player mod that's compatible with this latest update? I miss watching Hulu on my phone. :-(

Flash 10.3 with Hulu fix
I haven't tried this on my Droid X but have it working on my android tablets.

Just make sure you uninstall Flash on your phone first before you install this hacked version. Then you will have to change the UserAgent setting on your browser to Desktop. If you don't know how to get to that setting simply type about:debug in the address bar of the browser and hit enter. You won't see anything happen after you do this. Go to Settings and you should have UserAgent as a setting available to you after that. Select Desktop and then you should be good to go.
I've found with Hulu, to be able to play videos without it freezing and/or the screen turning black on you, you will have to get into your settings on Hulu and set your Account/Settings and set your Playback Quality to 288p (you don't want to let it auto-select for you).
Good luck.
One more thing, if you have an ad-blocker like AdFree or something you will have to disable it otherwise Hulu will not like it and eventually stop working for you. It has to play the commercials.
Hi guys, I've just realised that the BBC Iplayer is no more visible on Google Market, even in "My Apps" section after installing the latest 3.2 update. I know the app doesn't function as expected at the moment but I installed it just in case BBC decicides to update the app in order to work properly on honeycomb. Could someone from UK (with the latest 3.2 update) please confirm if the app is still in market. Cheers
Oh no! WHAT SHALL WE DO NOW?!?!? OPEN A BIG THREAD ABOUT IT!
It's not really an app, it's a shortcut to the iplayer website. Open browser, type iplayer. You can create the shortcut yourself and put it on the home screen. Oh, it does work, watching Torchwood
I installed the bbc iplayer app for mobile phones onto my acer a500 and was able to view episodes and live TV channels in full screen mode, though at first no pictures were displayed i.e. blank sreens, but audio from the streaming video played in the background. So,i pressed the blank (centre) portion of the screen for about 2 to 4 seconds then tapped the top left corner of that same blank portion (i.e. your left side when facing the screen ) and whala! full screen mode was displayed with pictures and i've been able to watch live bbc channels as well catch up on aired episodes. I know we can view BBC iPlayer via the website but it's nothing compared to the ease you get when using an app.
The iPlayer app (and by the way it is an app and not a shortcut to the I player website) is not compatible with stock 3.2. You can still view iPlayer output using the stock browser and the BBC iPlayer website.
Try this...
Works on my iconia and sgs2. have to drum my fingers on the tab for a bit but it works 100%

Thanks for that. When you say you drum your fingers, how do you get that to get it going? It just sits there for me.

LOL yeah it just sits there for me too, but if I tap my fingers about the screen it starts full screen go figure...
Im posting here because I have just registered and cant go to dev. forum.
Crashes with google voice widget. 4g doesnt work but doesnt matter as sprint has rumored to be dumping 4g anyways.
camera and gallery crashes very often (got rid of camera360) and put on cameraMX no issues.
BROWSER crashes CONSTANTLY. replaced with Operamini ...no hdmi, so the ONLY way I could get video from the phone to the tv was using XBMC frodo (xbox media center). Since my computer is on my flat panel tv it worked perfect.
If anyone has found an app that will send video/audio (divx) from phone to computer with SMB or UPNP please post.
I use ES File Explorer and MXplayer to stream divx video from computer to phone, when i dont want to use XBMC
SWYPE beta crashes, so got rid of it.
Everything is now very stable. Touchwiz will crash if you are flying through menus and you dont give apps etc a second to close/open, seems to happen when using an app that has been moved to SD.
Did you read the original post's issues section? I'm sure it very clearly states that 4G does not work, and it wont work on any ICS or JB rom either since there were no official releases of either

Just got a new N7 2013 32gb from Best Buy to replace my existing N7 16 gb and while the new one is definitely better in almost every way, the CNN and Xfinity apps do not seem to work at present. None of the videos on CNN or the Live TV feature work, they just say 'Video Not Available' when trying to play a video. Xfinity app also just shows a blank screen when trying to play a video. Both of these apps work fine on the older N7.
Thankfully Netflix seems to work just fine. I came across a few posts on android central about CNN not working with the new N7 too.
Any one else experienced the same or knows a fix for this? This seems to be an app level issue : may be they need to be updated for 4.3 / N7 but if there is workaround, that would be great. The Live TV feature on CNN is particularly useful and would be great to have it back.

Update: Just downloaded a 720p mkv file and I get no audio using BS Player Pro or ES Video Player on the new nexus but the same files plays back without issue on the older n7. This is disappointing to say the least, looks like some codecs are missing on this new device. To be clear my older N7 was rooted but that was it, everything else was stock. This may be an issue with 4.3 or a S4Pro vs Tegra 3 issue with the S4 missing some audio codec support.
Will have to hang on to the old one for a while it seems as the new one still has kinks that need to be resolved.
I just used the Xfinity app on my unlocked and rooted new Nexus 7. Worked fine for me.

Xfinity App works fine for me, both downloaded and streamed content. Watch ESPN also worked, but Watch ABC seems to be hit our miss.
CNN App does not work.

Ok, xfinity started working for me after clearing the data and restarting the app, doing the same for CNN did nothing as it still does not work.
This is not something that root and unlocking can fix so not really inclined to do that right now.
The audio on the 720p mkv file so far only works with vplayer , an obscure media player that I found on the play store. Hoping BSPlayer will update their player for Nexus 7 soon.
Ok, so it turned out the latest version of BS Player 1.9.152 removed DTS/AC3 support because of licensing issues with Dolby, so had to manually downgrade to .151 through an apk posted online ( I own the pro license). If anyone uses BSPlayer (best media player in my book) please keep that in mind. So right now the only remaining issue is the CNN app, hope they fix it sooner than the 6 months+ they took to officially support the original N7 and another 3 months before live streaming was added.
Update: The CNN app on the play store states that they are aware of the issues with 4.3 and are working on fix, hope that comes soon.
Hi All,
I realise there is already a huge thread about the MK809II but I wanted to focus specifically on streaming media to it as I had hoped this would be its main use for me.
The first thing I installed was the iPlayer app. I have been quite disappointed with this as the streaming quality is very poor despite setting the app to use the highest quality available and my TV only being 720p to start. The iPlayer website generally works well when using firefox with the Desktop By Default add on. When available I can play the HD streams without any problem and even SD streams are better quality than the app.
4oD was my second installation. This has frustrated me even more. By default this will not play to HDMI out. My MK809II came rooted so I was able to hide the HDMI out from the app as described (I would've posted a link but I'm not allowed! Its easily found by googling). Now the app allows me to start playing a show but sits continually on a black screen with a buffering icon. I have tried instead to download a show, although there aren't many available, this does seem to download a significant proportion of the show but I always get the message 'Download failed'. Over the last couple of days despite not watching anything the app has downloaded over 2Gb of data! I have read that it will also fail to work if the device is rooted, I haven't had a specific warning about this but again tried another app to hide the fact that its rooted and restarted 4oD but the same black screen appears.
So I thought I could get round this by using the web site as I had with iPlayer, this allows me to log in ad browse around but I encounter the same black screen and buffering icon.
I haven't attempted SkyGO yet, I'm not feeling confident of getting anywhere with that if I can get 4oD to work! Nor have I tried ITV or Channel5.
For myself and others as anyone got a setup that works better than this or used other streaming services? Maybe decent quality out the iPlayer app - or anything out of 4oD?
