Fm Radio Skin
I am trying to make a new skin for my Polaris (Qvga).
I edit the installation cab, and after modifing the file "Fm_Skings.pkg" , the one with all the png images inside, the Fm Radio program don´t run anymore.
I am usign Winrar to edit this file... Do I need a different tool?

Do not allow winrar to compress it!

This is a terrible idea! All that will happen is that we'll have anouther 900 post thread in which no one can actually get any useful information unless you have a week of nothing to do. Advanced search features such as search thread titles only die when mega threads are created, and most people end up asking the same question over and over again because answers are lost 10 pages back.
NOOBS, use the search function first. If you find a thread that answers your question great, if your question could potentially be answered in that thread, go ahead and ask it. If and only if your topic truly is novel, then by all means open up a new thread. Generally speaking, most questions should go in the Polaris subforum, and only ROM upgrade related questions should be posted in this subforum.

has anyone tried to or is it possible to skin the size of the clock in the "alarm" menu to make it more finger friendly? the current one is too small and very finger unfriendly.

simple question but how do you update your rom? mine is still running on version 1.00.00 wouldnt mine it running on the lastest and also where would i get it from?

Porting miui/lewa status and hopes toward our dev

Hi Bro & Sis,
Frankly speaking,Im bit confused about MIUI & LEWA OS porting status for our x8 ether its agains of XDA Rules or not.As me understand its like this:
-Porting isnt wrong if somebody do it from own rom resource(based own rom).
-Any tutorial & other source is open to anybody to used it as long as proper credit given.
So,me didnt see any wrong of it and me also wondering are there any of our DEV who has a own rom willing to do it if its legal.
Yes,we have many roms(MIUI & LEWA) out there but its based on somebody else rom which is not promising for development(bug fixing,better performance etc) because as I know beside its remain ori bugs its also bring new bugs & little lag of performance.
If anybody has diff point of view please share it to help me be more clear about regarding issue.

Actually the reason why colossus keep on closing such thread in development its because of the failure to comply this rules. I dont see any hard part in following that rule. Let me simplify.
Now you want to mod or port ROM? Here are some checklist.
1. If you will be using a based ROM. Please make sure you have proper permission from the base ROM developer. THIS IS A MUST.
Now you have permission eh?
So you can start modding/porting the ROM.
What if I didnt get permission?
Dont worry you can still mod/port that ROM but please do not share it here. In short it applies only for personal use.
2. If you already done porting then create a thread in X8 Themes & Apps. If your rom becomes popular and you apply your own fix etc. Then please contact the MOD so that the ROM will be moved to Development Section. (Ofcourse it will still undergo screening if that would fit on the Dev Section.
Now guys what is the hard part understanding those Rules implied?

By your statement,me understand this;
Porting rules is a same as modding/theming rules(must be place in x8 theme sec.)
As I know,this rules is for someone who modding/theming based on others rom because ori Dev usually not modding/theming their own rom & open a new thread.
If they did or add/remove something,we can call it a next updates.
Its make sense if someone porting based on others but how about porting based on own roms?
For example;How about if nAa porting MIUI based on his MiniCM?
Should its must place in theme sec too?
BTW,its help me clear a bit thats porting based on somebody else rom is NOT agains XDA rules if you put in theme sec. with a permission & proper credit.thanks

Ofcourse it will be considered as development. If you based it with your own ROM then there is no issue since its yours. What are you confused about?

As stated no its not. Instead of posting the whole rom you can actually make a flashable zip on that tweak that you want to put.

i have test today this rom with clk bootloader on my TmoUS with Nand install
- i can not connect to mobile network
i have test
- reflash other JB kernels
- change the .so files frome HERE
- insert other ppp and pppd files
ever i switch the wifi off the mobile data no connect ( i can see my provider in the statusbar menu and see my contacts)
with magldr install no problem with mobile data

Q When I'm asked to move my post to the Q#A/T thread, do I have to do that?

A Right now there doesn’t appear to be any specific issues with the Sea_JB ROM. Regarding the Sea_PA ROM, not clear yet because it has just been released. The native SD version is in development.
Q How’s battery life?
A see this question asked repeatedly across all ROMS. Honestly there is no way to give you an answer based on a ROM. There are too many variables in question and results vary from user to user and device to device. Battery life is going to depend on age and condition of your battery, your use habits with your device, installed apps, tweaks, settings, etc...

A Ask your questions and report your issues in this thread. You will receive a response and hopefully get you back up and running this ROM to it's fullest

no this is not the problem (i think so) i can not test on my women´s EU leo it kills me
a team member from me have installed this rom on the TmoUS and this works 100%. he lives in the USA and have other provider
i think this is the problem: provider, clk files, kernel or i am a noob :crying:
i have test all 4.2.2 roms and all have the same problem. with my 4.1.2 no problem only with 4.2.2
tomorrow i will test other iptables file

have you been try RMNET to PPP update from tytung , usually I put this on unzip and zip again.
(but WiFi fix not resolve for WiFi connection)

i am using it in nativesd...data working fine for me..bluetooth and gps are buggy and so is camera and display...

I am using Sea_JB. Rom is very smooth but wifi connecting stuck at Authenticating/Obtaining ip adress.
I tried to flash Magldr and it worked but then ROM weren't smooth like at CLK.

I tried to connect to not protected network. It stuck at "connecting...", and after few minutes it says "Avoided poor internet connection"

can you please tell me step by step what you did ? Where exactly do you change the initrd.gz par example?
I´m asking, because I have changed several times, and several initrd.gz, but the(installed) rom doesn´t boot.
I think I make sommething wrong, but I don´t know what.
P.S. I´m on hd2 eu, sandisk 10,16 GB, magldr; the card was new formatted.....I do everything what people said, without luck

Maybe the post of Kameirus (number 25 of the original Sea_PA thread) can help you any futher with the WiFi issue.More users have/had problems with it.

I have an HD2 eu and an 2GB sandisk.

in this post I will explain the goal of this specific thread created for this ROM with the permission of the Developer of this specific ROM.
This is a statement made in the Q&A/T template thread:

My fellow followers,
As you can see, XDA Community is growing larger and we need to tidy up a little so that everyone can find relevant information more easily.
This is why a new trend in creating Q&A/T threads has started recently.
As a thread name suggests, this thread should be used for your questions, answers and troubleshooting my ROM installations.
Basically, this should be used in the manner the original thread has been used until now.
From now on, the main ROM development thread will be monitored more strictly and you should post there only relevant information that should help fix issues or improve the ROM.
I will not forbid you to post error reports there, but they should follow defined rules specified in the Troubleshooting section in the OP of the development thread:
you need to specify all relevant hardware/software information and attach all available log files, otherwise the information is useless for me and post will be considered off-topic and can be moved here.
I wish you many problem-free hours on my ROM and as always: Happy flashing!

What to do with debatable OT posts?
Hi All Followers of this ROM,
a certain post of a member of one of my Dev's ROM for whom I created a Q&a/T thread set me to think and reconsider what kind of posts is OT or not and how to deal with that.
It is not my intention to be overly strict about what is or is not an OT post, you should decide before you post whether you think it is OT. Consider whether the development of the ROM is helped by your post. Consider also whether someone in the future, searching through the thread, would find your post useful or would it just take up bandwidth.
If there is any doubt as to whether a post is OT, i will not ask you for it to be moved.
If I do decide your post is OT, I will ask you to move it.
If you think it is not OT, please post your reasons in the Q&A thread, quoting post number.
If I or the developer then agree with you, I will delete my post in the dev thread asking you to move it, and the post can stay.
I hope this makes it all clearer.

can you explain how DA2SDM works ?

it is basically the same as older Apps2SD or CronMod A2SD+:
- it mounts system parts and user applications to SD-EXT
the only difference is it is not achieved by symlinks but native mountpoints (using bind command) are used for whole folders.
this needs less processing, is more stable and more transparent to the user.
it is configurable - mount script is located in system/etc and it is called from initrd.gz during early initialization of file system - this is another advantage over init.d storage modes.
user should get the same free space as with using Apps2SD (i.e. userdata size information does not contain space for apps, users should check real free space using df command in terminal emulator)

Problems after flashing.
Now I have problem with phone.. because its rebooting itself after 1-3 minutes working with it.. what the hell ?

Right after reboot grab last_kmsg and post it here.
You can try other versions of kernel if the included one is not working for you (either marc1706's or mine...search my thread for more download links)

I'm sorry but i've installed another rom.. cause my friend wanted any of those in forum, but maybe i'll reinstalling ROM on mine HTC then I'll reply sorry...

CPU 100% Forever
First of all thank you developer for the dedication to this ROM
I have installed this ROM before 24 hour and since that time till now my HD2 CPU usage run on 90-100% so it drain the battery so quick (2-3 hour to drop the power from 100% to 0%) and it gets hot always.
Something else.. while its CPU usage 100% forever so you can't feel it smooth.. it's so heavy.
Please help.
