I followed Android Centrals guide to change my broken screen on my Nexus 7. Sadly, the screen won't come on. I can hear that it powers on. I power it on, touch where the back button should be and I can hear that it recognizes my touch but the screen doesn't come on. Can anyone help or direct me to any solutions or ideas? Thank you

There are two cables from the screen assembly to the mainboard. The flat copper looking cable is the digitizer and the other cable, with a plug on the end, is the screen. Make sure that second cable is plugged in tight.

Because i recently purchased a LCD + Digitizer combo and watch the video on how to fix it and did. Now when i go to power on my HD2 without the back housing on it just vibrates and no screen turns on?! Can anyone tell me what maybe the problem =)

Hi my friend gave me her HTC wildfire to fix the digitiser as another friend dropped the phone in olive oil and well oil doesn't go well with the capacitive screen.
While trying to clean the capacitive part (which failed I'm going to have to buy a new screen) I managed to break the connector going to the front buttons the small ribbon cable the opposite side of the display and capacitive cable attachments.
So my question what does this cable do I assume that this only powers the lights behind them or does it also run the buttons?
Thanks.
It's just the lights, I broke mine when fitting a new screen. The buttons still work i just have no backlight.

Thanks that's what I thought, the buttons still work on occasion and are part of the capacitive screen.
Well to fix the screen now.
Thanks for your reply.

I have already used these methods
is the new screen ok
are you sure that your new screen isn't broken too.
I think that it's not the screen, although the phone to vibrate a few times
disconnect digitizer ribbon and see if lcd turns on.

Hi
I'm a long time note line user and am thinking of getting a used note 10.1 2014. I'm concerned about the black screen issue I've read on Amazon reviews. I checked out a review unit a local t-mobile and it had the same problem. Is this really that common? Is there a way to safely get a used one? Thanks for the help.

@swid441 Black screen issue? You backlight bleeding?
Not back light bleeding. It's the issue where screen goes and stays completely black. Tablets is on and capacitive buttons work but no display- all black.

I've had that happen to me after I dropped mine once...with 2 cases on. Anyway, to fix it, I just open up the back and reconnected the screen, very easy to do, I think it jarred the tiny connection. The tablet is so awesome otherwise and it might never happen if I hadn't dropped it
Edit: I popped the back cover off, unhooked the LCD ribbon cable and plugged it back in. Put the cover back on and tried to power on. Nothing happened. Not even the soft keys lit up. Plugged the power cable in and tablet came on like it never had an issue. Glad I found this thread before I spent $150 on the LCD and digitizer.
What did you use to open up your Note? I rebooted my note the other day and the screen was black. The buttons light up but the screen is off. I want t to try and reconnect the cable before I but a new lcd and digitizer.
Did you open it from the front or the back and what did you use?

If its still showing black screen, keep reconecting, smoothing the cable oit and pressing the un sleep key to see if the screen is on. The cable is so sensitive it takes me about 6 tries to get it perfect. I use whatever I have around to open it, like my thin nail file, very carefully, around the silver edges from the front. I remember I saw a youtube video of this somewhere. Good luck
