[Q] nexus 4 broken bluetooth - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

In the stock rom my when i tried to turn the bluetooth on sometimes it turned on but sometimes it would just not turn on.
I had to reboot the phone for it to turn on again.
So i thought i would switch over to a custom rom.I am currently using Liquid Smooth v2.4 but the problem still persists.
I tried some other roms too but still there is this problem. Can anyone tell me if its a hardware problem? or if there is a solution for it...

See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2163979 .

If you can RMA it, I will suggest you do that. 2weeks ago I got my brand new n4. I use BT all the time and mine connects and disconnect and sometimes it connects but then few seconds, not even up to a minute will disconnect. I tried all the tricks and different ROMs and it just will not stay connected. Went to 4 different T-Mobile stores and their n4 worked flawlessly. Long story short I called Google and they RMA a new one that worked flawless.

Wifi issues - maybe TW related

Ever since I installed the Wifi based TW ROM I have had issues with the wifi stopping. The issue continues with the official rom (with root and deoxed). It is set to be on in software but says disconnected. If I reboot device it works fine again.
Anyone else have this issue? I am very close to going back to stock even though I like the new way of doing notifications.
Same problem here. Simple way to solve it to enable and disable Airplane Mode... But yeah.. its really annoying. So any fix would be very helpful.
I've had the same problem recently. Did either of you install the free wifi server app that the Amazon store offered a day or two ago? That's when it seemed to start so I just removed it so see if that fixes my issue... here's hoping!
Same problem here, but it just started the day before yesterday. I've had Touchwiz since a day or two after I bought the device (almost two weeks). Hadn't thought to toggle airplane mode, thanks for that tip. Beats power cycling every morning.

I had similar issue with the stock Galaxy rom. Since the TouchWhiz update however, it has been running extremely well.
So after uninstalling the WiFi File Explorer Pro my WiFi has worked fine without any connection issues. Just like before and after TW. I also had a weird issue that wouldn't recognize finger presses on the lockscreen after waking up once every 10 to 20 times.
If you installed this app or something similar it might be worth a shot to remove it.

Just got a nexus 4, issue with Bluetooth

Hey everyone, just got my nexus 4 a couple days ago and it's awesome so far, but I've noticed an issue with my Bluetooth. Sometimes it just won't turn on, which is fixed by rebooting the device, then while streaming music through Bluetooth in the car, it will cut in and out. Is this a common problem and is there a fix for it?

I also just got my N4 yesterday. Drove all the way to work this morning with audio streaming from my phone through bluetooth with no issues. Maybe try doing a factory reset?

It's a common 4.2.2 bug google may fix it in the next version, I don't think there's a known cause yet.

For me, it's caused by a location app. I uninstalled it and turned on/off bluetooth then re-installed the app. Everything works fine now.

Note 4 will Auto Restart even not using it!!

Hi,
Everyone here, just got my new Galaxy Note 4 yesterday.
I have encountered this issue, the Note 4 will auto restart after not using it for a while, say 10 to 30 minutes it will auto restart. At first, I thought I was accidentally pressed the power button but I put it on my table not using it for a while it will auto restart.
Latest: I used the Note 4 to call my friend in the midst of the call, the phone auto restarted.
Till now, I still not yet install any program into the phone, still in its original condition.
Anyone here know what's wrong with my Note 4? or have experienced the similar problem in your other phone? How to solve it?
Could this hardware failure or software problem?
Thank you.

No problems here. I suggest you do a factory reset and see if the problem still occurs. If it doesn't, one of the apps you installed is the culprit. If it does, I think you need a replacement.

Thank you for your replied and suggested help.
In fact, I did one time factory reset but after that the Note 4 still auto restarted.
When the phone was in my hand from the shop till now I did not install any program into it.
Anyone know why the phone will auto restart?
Thank you
Go back with your phone where you bought it and ask for a new one!
Maybe a faulty unit. It's their fault. You can plead a compensation tho'.

I am having the same issue, although I have installed some apps on my Note 4. Also, I tried uninstalling apps, and changed some settings. Every time it auto restarts, it reverts back to the settings from before, and shows all of the apps back on the device. I'm not sure what is going on with it, but it is extremely irritating. It doesn't seem to matter if I'm using the device or not. It's completely random.
Check to make sure your battery is seated properly (no loose contacts). Otherwise, it might be a faulty unit. A large batch of Nexus 7s had a similar issue and they all had to be sent in for a warranty repair.
after i removed my sd card and tested for 2 days no random restart and shutdowns.interesting.
My FIL had an S4 that kept rebooting.. It turned out to be his SD card... FACT

Note 4 random rebooting
Greetings all,
I have had my T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 for a little over a week and I absolutely love it except for the random reboots. The phone reboots randomly, often at at night while on the charger. That is really bad because everytime it does, it wakes me with the T-mobile jingle. I have started muting the audio at night to avoid being awakened by this but that means I cannt be reached by phone while it's muted. I have cleared the cache several times with no improvement and I have done a factory reset once and the problem persists. It seems entirely random. There was one day where I had no reboots. Most days it's a couple or so and one night it rebooted about 5 times durring the night wrecking my sleep. I do use an memory card and I just removed it today as a test. So far no reboots but it's only been a couple of hours so far. This is a significant problem and any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. Likewise, I will post any progress I am able to make to this forum.
Thanks

I have the same problem, I do not have memory card inserted into the phone. It wakes me 3-4 times every night. The store sent it to a lab and they said that the phone is fine and does not have any problem. It drives me nuts.

Greetings again,
I returned my Note 4 to T-Mobile and got a brand new phone, and sim card. I have all my software loaded and configured as with the old Note 4 and it's been about 36 hours now with no reboot. If it doesn't happen in the next couple of days or so, I will probably be pretty confident that the problem is solved. I'll keep you updated.
OP, is it rooted? I have the unbranded Note 4 (SM-N910H), I've had mine rooted for 2 weeks and it kept randomly rebooting twice or so every 1-2 days, now I've removed the root and everything seems to be working fine with no reboots since 1 week. I hope this helps.
P.S. I've rooted using the CF Auto root.
Anyone knows why the root was causing random reboots for me? I've tried with knox disabled and enabled and with both options I get the same reboots.
Edit: Forgot to say that most of the random reboots happened while the phone was idle (screen off)
Thanks.
note 4 restarting
I have the same issue .. my note 4 is auto restarting... i use gear s all the time bu connecting it with note 4 via bluetooth and the phone randomly auto restarting .. yesrterday i didn't connect the gear s all the day and the phone works all the day fine and it didn't restart .. so i really don't know what is causing this problem ! Anyone can help?
Frustrating
I have a similar issue with the Note 4.
A few back, it randomly restarted and I lost half of my contacts and settings. I thought it was a one-off occurrence and re installed all my contacts and settings. Today, it kept restarting and hasn't started again. I called ATT and have asked for a replacement.
Hope the new one shapes up better than this. It sounds like there is a hardware defect in a lot of the phones.
Same here N910CQ, brand new one...

Wi-Fi completely dead?

Hi,
Wi-Fi on my Nexus 10 always worked good. Then some days ago I turned it on and... Wi-Fi seems dead. I mean it stucks on "Wi-Fi activation..." and doesn't go on. Wi-Fi function seems not to be activable, switch button remains grey and disabled. It happens with 5.1.1 stock rom, then I made a complete factory reset and problem still remained, then i've tried with a 12.1 cyanogenmod and... problem still remained. Wi-Fi seems completely dead. Could it be an hardware issue? Is there an app with whom I can make hardware diagnostics? Or any other advice? Bluetooth also doesn't work and with cyanogenmod every 10-15 secs it shows "unfortunately bluetooth sharing stopped" message...
Thanks in advance.
Hello and thank you for using Q/A,
I don't know if there is a App to check hardware, but I think your WLAN and Bluetooth Chip is broken.
The last thing you can try is flashing Stock via Fastboot. Don't forget to erase all partitions before. There are several instructions in Nexus 10 General section.
Kind regards
Trafalgar Square
I have the same problem, but I am sure the chip is not broken because when I flash and reflash, sometimes the Wifi just comes on. but when I attempt a reboot its gone again. Tried FXR wifi fix but it doesnt always work.
I read somewhere that it could be a problem with the Persist partition but still havent managed to fix it
New problem!
Hi!
I've solved my old problem by replacing motherboard with a new one (with 32 GB HD instead of 16 from my old one). WiFi was perfect. I also had to buy a new 3-button set (power & volumes) because old one was deteriorated. All was right.
But from yesterday a new problem comes out. I was trying to flash last CM snapshot release for Nexus 10, but tablet simply powered off.
If I plug it to PC via USB and press power button I can see battery icon fully charged, but tablet don't turn on. If I keep it plugged, sometimes tablet auto turns on in bootloader mode for a few minutes, then screen flickers and tablet turns off. I've tried to flash CM in these minutes but, at first reboot, tablet turns off.
I think it could be a battery problem. Maybe it's gone and cannot be recharged, contrary to what battery icon seems to say.
Now, I've spent 80 euros for a new motherboard and 15 for 3-button change. A new battery will cost about 50 euros. 50 euros is less than buying a new tablet but, considering a new problem can come out in any moment, is it worth? Also, like when I had motherboard problem, I'm not sure battery is the problem. Any advice to solve or about buying or not a new battery? Thanks!
Took my risks and bought a new battery, arrived on yesterday morning. Battery changed and CM13 correctly flashed, now it seems to be ok. Luckily i hit the right problem.

No WiFi connection

I got 2 LG G2 d800 and both started not connecting to wifi, it gets stuck on "turning on wifi", both happened on the same day so I don't think its a hardware problem probably an update of Google services, anyone has the same problem and maybe a solution?

I am experiencing the same problem since yesterday. It just says Turning Wi-Fi on... and it never turns on. It happened when I had my phone charging and noticed a facebook messenger update. The wifi has turned on and worked for a while (especially after some reboots) but then it got back to doing the same thing again. I have reset my phone but it doesn't let me do a hard reset using the power and volume down keys.
Any ideas on how to solve this?
sorry to say, but its broken (99%). i had the same problem. but my luck it was i guarantee time (short before end)

I have made it work for a few hours, somehow. I finally managed to figure out how to factory reset it. I did it a few times until the wifi was working completely.
I started downloading apps and it worked perfectly. Then I decided to try a reboot and the wifi when out again. The difference is that now I have a MAC address and before I didn't. It's still stuck but there's some progress, I guess.
I thought about rooting my phone, but I'm scared of ending up with a brink since I have never done it before.
Me too with my g2:
About 3 weeks that my wifi, hot spot & the stock radio app aren't working like they used to for 4 years!
Did factory reset but it didnt helped
