Does anyone know of a way to get the auto brightness adjustment for the us versions? More specifically I am on Verizon...
You see I would like to extend my screen on time (who wouldn't) without giving up the convenience of auto brightness if I can
sent from my galaxy s4

Anyone uses Lux on the SN3...
I have the full app have used on all my devices. Lux works great and since I work in a dark environment like a theater keeping it at –50 works great for me and not disturbing others… When I get a call the –50 goes to very bright like having a flashlight on the phone in a theater. How can I fix that???
I see there are some manual settings for the phone but not sure how that works when on a call… Likewise would hate to be in bright lit area and the phone display is too dim hard to see. Seems with a custom rom phones calls kept the right Lux setting for the environment.
Any advice on what I can do on calls to keep it from going to bright or an even balance for all?
Never used Lux, so I don't have any useful tips for that. However, have you tried Velis Auto Brightness? That might work well for you. It's been my go-to brightness controller since it came out.
I too have been troubled by this for the past couple years on the galaxy nexus and S3.
For me, Lux never properly applied settings on either of these devices via CM 10/10.1/10.2/aokp.
I contacted the developer last month regarding this issue and below is his reply:
"Unfortunately subzero brightness cannot be used during calls due to restrictions in Android. I'll look into possible workarounds for a future release."
Everytime i ran lux on both my gnex and now note 3 i would have problems, it would annoy the crap out of me then i delete it.
on the gnex it would go crazy with brightness going up and down
on the note 3 it gets stuck super dark or super bright..
The stock auto brightness works fine anyway..
So, I spend a lot of time in direct sunlight with my phones. The S4 was unusable. The Note 3 in the current configuration I have it in, is *just barely* tolerable.
I know that if I am on stock TouchWiz, then the "auto brightness" setting will net me the highest NITS (brightness) values. If I go to manual brightness and set it to 100% bright, it still will not be *as bright* as if I were on Auto Brightness.
So being a hater of stock Auto Brightness, I wanted to try out Lux Brightness but then I read somewhere that this app even when set to Auto, will only get you the same peak brightness that the "Manual Brightness" gets you. It cannot get the peak NITS that TouchWiz Auto Brightness offers?
I also read somewhere that CyanogenMOD based AOSP ROM's are hacked to allow you the highest possible NITS that TouchWiz Auto Brightness offers.
Neither source of info for the above two paragraphs were solid though. Can anyone help shed some light (no pun) for me on this subject?
Did the maximum brightness change? Used to be when using auto-brightness outside (very sunny), the brightness would kick up to 11.. (brighter then it would be if you used the slider..) I'm not seeing this behavior with kitkat..
Ever since the kitkat upgrade, I can barely see my screen outside! I use my galaxy note 3 on a bike mount, so this is a big deal for me
Anyone else noticed this? Any fixes that don't involve root??

Hi all
Just got the Galaxy S4 4G+ (i9505), and compared to my SGS III LTE (i9305), the automatic screen brightness setting makes the screen very dim, even when brightness compensation is set to +5. I know I can always override the automatic setting, and use apps like Lux, but I would like to stick to the original automatic setting, as its handy.
So my question is, is this a "feature" or a fault only affecting on my device? I have checked that the ambient light sensor seems to be getting similar lux's as my SGS III. Newest official Android 4.3 installed.
Attached is for reference a picture where both phones are set to automatic brightness with no compensation. Ambient day light indoors.
Anybody?
Hey all,
I've searched and searched and got nowhere - so though I'd ask the question.
Simply put :
My GS4, on maximum brightness, almost acts like an auto-brightness setting. I've disabled every automatic screen control I can find.
To explain as clearly as possible, it'll go at maximum brightness for some time, then reduce the screen brightness by (at a guess) 20% and stay that way. The actual brightness setting doesn't change, just the output brightness of the screen.
It's across ROMs too, which leads more confusion to it.
Anyone got any idea?
Cheers
