Hi gang, I am having issues with excel spreadsheets opening properly on my gs4 and polaris office 5.
the document is a work schedule with various names and times... my problem is where most of the file opens, more than half of the times needed for viewing show up as follows:
####

You need to expand the cell widths.

You select the column (click / touch the column letter). This gives a <> button on the column header - use this (drag left / right) to resize.
That said - this is bugging me too - as after changing the column size AND saving the file, the columns seem to have shrunk the next time I open the spreadsheet which is *really* annoying. Anybody know a way to stop the column resize / shrinking issue with Polaris 5?

Hi!
Does anybody know if there is a way to tile your favorite contacts in a grid instead of flipping them one by one? It would be great in touch flo 3d, but other external solutions would be great to.
I do not have the HD yet, but I'm a bit confused. I saw in some snapshots that the People Contact tab actually shows a row of contact pictures in the right side, besides a big one in the middle. The attached snapshot comes from the HD user manual.
I guess you actually have around 9-10 contacts show in the right side and I guess you can pick one of them directly by touching the picture.
You guys that have the HD, could you clarify this?

Yep - there is the main picture which you can flick through and running up the right hand side is a strip of smaller contact pictures which, if you click on, selects that contact for you.
Yes I know about this feature, but it's still a waste of space. It's quite hard to see and hit the right one in the right column. If you could have rows of maby 4 photos and unlimited number of rows to scroll, it would be much faster and easier to overview I think. Maby a bit like the progam menu.

if you don't use the program section you could use VJPhonetools to create shortcuts to the people you want to call and add them to program tab

Sounds interesting enough. Will try it out. Thanks for the tip. It would still be nice with a option to change the layout in the default application IMHO.
Haven't seen a thread like this about so thought i'd start one.
Basically any tips & tricks you have found with the X10.
How to switch the Unlock Screen between left and right handed
Swipe backward along the unlock bar and it will start to mirror across the screen
i hate the default keyb so here is a link to the skinned high res offerings from other devices. tried it and worked. now no missed key presses and vibez feedback on to. just download zip of your choiuce and extract the htc_ime.pak and click.apk from the system/app/ folders within the update.zip. use linda file manager or astro to install. mine works well as i chose the black with blue letters and green func keys. very nice

thanks alot! i see that after the update i can now change keyboard language to norwegian without changing the entire system language!
I'm not sure if this is new or not, but I just realize the keyboard can select text by holding down the shift button and use the arrow keys. However, holding the Ctrl key and arrows hasn't worked yet (I'm sure it's in the pipe). Also, Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C, Ctrl-X, Ctrl-V works.
Other shortcuts:
- Browser: Ctrl-T to open new tab, Ctrl-W to close tab (only if a textbox is in focus, otherwise it wouldn't work)
Anyone has a new shortcut that is not listed here, please share. I'm loving these little things that ASUS is trying to make it as close to a PC as possible.
I'd rather they work on making the meta keys send the correct keycodes instead of hacking in support one shortcut at a time :-/
Here's a link to more shortcuts in another post...

Do Google support meta keys and their combinations?

only very limited. 3.1 should support some more though.
This one is a more complete thread with shortcuts:

So, I was trying to add a fifth row to my Live Tiles screen, as I have 4.
According to this: http://www.ampercent.com/how-to-cha...e-rows-in-windows-8-metro-start-screen/10494/
There are a certain number of maximum rows you can add based on your screen resolution.
My screen has a 1366x768 (Not mentioned there). Based on that, I can only have 4 rows. But, what could happen if forced a fifth row with that registry hack? Anyone else tried that?

I have a 1080p screen and I tried to put it above what was allowed to 7 rows but after a reboot nothing changes. I even tried to put it to one that was supported but nothing happened again.

It resets the registry to 4 rows because it is also based on your screen size. Someone needs to find the hack that overrides the screen size limit. I have a Samsung Series 7 Slate that only has 3 rows and I think they are too big. I want them to be like my Lenovo Twist and have 4 so there is more harmony between the two but so far I can't figure out how Windows is getting the info for the screen size. Maybe the display INF?
Me too, i have an Acer W700 with full hd resolution and i nave only 3 rows. I hope someone can hack this to have more row and less big tiles.
I found the key to edit, it's:
\HKEY_Current_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ImmersiveShell\Grid\Layout_AvailableHeightCells
In my Acer W700 the number is 3, the problem is that if i change it to 4 or 5 the system reset it back to 3.
We need a hack...

I + 1 this since i want to have 4 rows on my acer w700 (the one with i5 processor)
from another thread...this also worked on my i7 PC:
see below for the reg tweak:
1. open notepad
2. post following line:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Scaling]
"MonitorSize"="12.1"
3. save as a .reg file
4. import into regedit
5. restart surface
6. enabled will be 4 rows and 9 rows in portrait when you go: settings: tiles: show more tiles

It won't change a bit to me, as I already have 4 rows, and my monitor is landscape only.

In landscape it should just work - no need to flip the tiles setting. It is only needed for portrait. Make sure you reboot. I've done this on numerous PCs and it worked, even on my 1080p desktop PC/monitor. let me tell you, 4 tiles sucks on a 24" monitor!
I did make one omission, because I copy/pasted from my phone. You MUST close the space in the reg path in "\Curr entVersion\" or it won't work. It appears the forum breaks the reg path there, for some reason, even if you type it right.
One other thing to consider: the critical setting is: "MonitorSize"="12.1"
You could experiment with the numbers, although I have no idea what they mean. I do know that the guy who discovered this hack initially had the setting @ 10.1 instead of 12.1, which made the on screen keyboard too small to use.
I was posting the same solution from Surface's thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2086240
It worked for me, i changed value to 13.1 and now i have 5 rows

Try to increase size (13.1-14.-15.1 etc.).
IMPORTANT: after any change restart pc to see effects

Ah thanks! It seems as if 12.1 gives me 3 rows and is the standard size while 13.1 gives me 5 rows.. Thanks for the help!
I am trying to make an app that allows the user to input text, and then images meaning that word come up on the screen. I already have Eclipse set up on my linux 64 bit box. How would I do this, as I am just starting to learn android development? I am trying to make this app using this tutorial: https://developer.android.com/training/basics/firstapp/building-ui.html but changing the activity so it shows images in a sequence (kinda like a GIF). Any way to do this?

I think you should create an ArrayList with the images and keywords.
Then if you click the search button you have to loop trough all the items and check if the keywords contain your searched text if so then you add the image to your layout else you don't.
Hope this helps

Agreed, but I think a HashMap<String, Integer> would be better in this case .
@OP: I don't get the second part of the question with the GIF, try to start with only an EditText, a Button and an ImageView. Then learn how to get the text which the user entered and set up the hashmap and your image resources.
