Find 5 with Dead/Stuck Pixel Poll - Oppo Find 5

Since there are a lot of owners with dead and stuck pixels on their Find 5 device, i think it would be nice to know how many are affected with this issue and hopefully to raise awareness of potential buyers. Please vote the poll, thanks! Provide duration of ownership if possible too

0 for me, checked against full screen backgrounds in #{000,fff,f00,0f0,00f}.
Got mine via the european site, have it now for ~3 days, assembly sticker on the phones box says 7th May while the cardboard box says 18th of May. ID of person in check, according to the label: 5015N.

I have a dead pixel. Got mine at launch on Feb 27

Delay

Aww just got delayed I believe for shipping. Ordered on the 14th and got the email
Dear Customer
Greetings from Notion Ink!
We would like to inform you that we have started shipping your device from the 4th of March and will be dispatching them in batches until the 14th of March.
Please note that as a standard procedure, after the devices are dispatched from our factory, it takes upto 48 hours for transportation to the port, customs clearance before the shipments can be forwarded to international destinations.
You will be able to use your order number to track your Adam once our logistics partners process your order for dispatch. They will contact you about the same once this has been done.
We really appreciate your patience in this matter and we will keep you updated about the process.
I got it too. I ordered on the 10th.

I ordered on the 9th and just got the same email. Kind of B.S. since I've been reading reports of people ordering the 9th and receiving shipping confirmations as early as the 5th. 15 months of waiting for this thing, another week can't be that bad, but damn it sucks...

WOW thats good 14th feb order shipped. I checked after seeing that and I also got shipment under process. Thanks for the up.
Don't be fooled by the "Shipment under process" - this does NOT mean your Adam has shipped. Until you have a TNT tracking number - assume it hasn't.
Now, I really don't want to call NI liars, without having the full information, but the reality is that the spreadsheet created by NIA members contains 800+ entries for PO2 orders. NI said that they are shipping in batches "every day, until 14/Mar". But the spreadsheets have NOT been updated at that rate - there's still only 120 entries that have shipped.
One might say, that relying on spreadsheet data is not a good idea, because data gets stale and not updated, etc. But the fact is, scine ESD changed to "Shipment under process", 170 people have already update their entries in two days - hence, I assume that any other change would have been recorded as quickly - or at least there would be some signs that there is at least ONE extra item shipped. This leads me to conclusion that Adams were NOT shipped in batches "every day".
As for the current status not meaning that it's "shipped" - well, for one it doesn't say "shipped", but there's also the case that it changed around the same time (weekday+time) as the ESD changed 25/Feb-10/Mar -> 3/Mar-10/Mar which, given all the other unclear communication history from NI, makes me suspect that this change is an automated change.
Once again, repeat after me: the order is NOT shipped until you have a TNT tracking number.
Hey guys!
I just wanted to celebrate the 1 month anniversary of my notion ink adam with you all.
1 month ordering anniversary that is
PO3? Future, cancellations, iPad2 or any other alternative Tablet, consider this..
Seriousness to consider, if they haven't already shipped, or at least aren't already built in the factory, delays could be worse.
With recent events in Japan, maker of many IC chips used in most electronics, production has been affected.
If they don't already have everything to assemble current Adams, indefinite delays are to come.
Those waiting to order an Adam after PO2, may have a long wait if they don't already have them assembled or ready to assemble.
This delay will affect even iPad2 and other tablets/devices, prices may even sky rocket.
-CC
Bah, I'm really hoping they are on their way soon. However, I won't be surprised either way : /
See it's that we are not understanding how time is calculated..
When they said in the email 48 hours from the 14th, they meant divided into 8 hour work days.. So that is roughly 6 working days +/+
Perhaps next week..

EDIT: [10:28] <Tachyon1> clockcycle|awy: unless you ask again, in which case it will be "In 48 hrs" again.

The delay is more likely on Pixel Qi's part. And, divining from their website (www-dot-pixelqi-dot-com/), Pixel Qi's manufacturing facility is in Taipei. Thus, it is likely NOT affected (directly.) I really think that NI has all the parts, EXCEPT FOR the PQi screens.
Just my opinion, based on reviewing the spreadsheet OFFICIAL Mirrors:

August Manufacturing Batches

I've been holding off on purchasing the early batches of Nexus 7 due to the quality issues which some are having. I think I'm getting set to move forward.
Does anyone know if Asus has started shipping August manufacturing batches?
If yes, will you please share where you purchased and quality of your Nexus 7?

Received replacement august 10 not a single issue

Don't let the few people with problems hold you back. Out of the tens of thousands (maybe more) of people that own this device on this forum. Only like maybe 50 have had some type of problem. It most likely won't happen to you.
I honestly would love to know how best to inquire or determine this - I actually called google twice on this, but it's understandable that they wouldn't know or have an answer to such an odd (yet relevant to us enthusiasts) on that. They were honest and are totally aware of the hardware issues to both the screen flicker and lift (popping sound on the left side).
How can you tell? e.g. CHECK NUMBER? I'm not sure if that is even one way to fully say... purchased mine from walmart and it does have the lifting issue, but I'm not totally bothered by it to immediately return - super easy to do there (plus I have friends in customer service ).
For what it's worth, my check number was 1047. I am sure such things were discussed in the multitude of.defects posts, and I was actually going to search a start a new post in how best we could figure out newer (hardware issues corrected) batches...
Can the OP retitle the thread on that perhaps; rather than stating August batches - for I still doubt that it's an actively regulated process for such a short notice - figure by Sep/Oct Asus+Google will abide by and solve these problems better.
Note that those units with serial numbers starting C80 will have been built in August, as opposed to C70 units built in July. Also, there's absolutely no guarantee that being built in August means that any issues have been resolved--new builds could have been injected into production in July, later in August, or September, or whenever.
For those folks who bought theirs in August, what do your serial numbers start with?
Bought my 7 on July 14th at Sam's Club...it's in perfect shape. Just buy one.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
The Manufacturers Date is located on the OUTSIDE of the box part of the SSN number.
Not to be confused with the electronic serial number (Found via Settings > About Tablet > Status ... "Serial Number")
The SSN number is a series of letters and numbers but the first 4 are significant with regards to the mfg info...
C Is the YEAR
7 Is the Month it was made
0 Not sure what this mean
K is for the hardware revision
So a unit mfg'd in August, it would have C8?? as the starting SSN number.
It might be stamped in the inside of the unit, but it is on the outside of the box that the unit comes with along with a number of other numbers.
Agree, there is no guarantee that problems have been fixed in later builds, but i am hoping that Asus/Google are taking action to reduce returns and increase overall quality on an ongoing basis.

I tend to think it's too soon for Asus to have made serious changes to their manufacturing process. Thing's only been in people's hands generating defect reports for a few weeks. September's batches, maybe... Personally, I'm about to return my third Nexus. First from Google Play had screen lift; replacement had worse screen lift plus a dead pixel. Today I picked one up from a local Wal-Mart, only to find it had worse screen lift than either of the other two. I'm giving up for now, maybe try again the middle of next month.

update/edit to a presumably long thread to be - my SSN begins with C60K BC2XXXX5 - who knows if a production date can be figured from a P/N or SSN or CSSN or Check Number determinant ??? It would be nice to hear from Asus on that aspect - perhaps someone may have called/talked to them?
c70 here and all is perfect so far.
I have a C60 from Walmart and I bought my girlfriend one from Gamestop which is a C70. I checked hers for defects before sending it to her.
Mine had some touch issues when first setting it up but has been fine since, so I think it's software related and hers had no issues. Her screen is slightly warmer then mine. Neither have dead or stuck pixels. Mine has zero screen lift, hers has very minor screen lift. Other then that they're the same.
Ordered mine July 27 from Currys UK
Received Aug 9th.
All okay so far looks and feels very nice.

C60 here from Google Play, bought a week and a half ago. Very tiny bit of screen lift. I ignore it, it affects nothing.
got a gel case goes around it, no problem.
C70 here all perfect no defects apart from the screen washout problem which is software problem on all devices tegra3 problem.

Units with august manufacture date

Anyone get pick one up from August yet?
I'm waiting until these come out after getting 2 with dead pixels... and I don't know how many more chances I'll have to open a good one @ gamestop, where my money is tied up. (Kinda regret trading in my iPad 3 with a perfect retina display....)
Please let me know if you got one and how the screen is!
I'd guess you were unlucky. My friend, mom, and I all have June ones and the screens are flawless. Also, August builds may not be available for some time, depending on how fast these things are selling. Guessing Google probably learned the N4 lesson and have stocked up lol.

I sent in a pixel xl 32 Verizon with a vibrating issue should be received by them this week ill post as soon as it get approved.
Can we use the box that was used to deliver the pixel XL 2? And should I remove the drband skin and screen protector from my trade in device, pixel XL 32gb..
They've had my trade in for approximately 9 business days. Not a word from them!! I'll be calling to find out what's the wonderful process and how long it takes. I'm tired of checking daily! They suck at releasing phones now adding trade in phones to orders. Ugh, what was I thinking. I'll report back.

I was told you could use a box, but to put the phone in the included envelope inside the box.
put the label on the box.
they seem adamant about using the padded envelope for some reason.
myself, I cut two pieces of cardboard to fit inside the envelope, then sandwiched the phone inside of those, put the label on, and wrapped that with clear packing tape.
just dropped off at post office today, will report as it progresses.
I made a copy of the shipping label and taped onto their padded envelope. Used the original label on the outside of a small box I put envelope in. Not sure why they gave us such shoddy envelopes to ship the phones back in?
I received my 2 XL on Thursday (10/19), but was out of town until Friday. I setup my 2 XL on Friday night and sent in my XL on Saturday. According to the tracking number, my XL will be delivered to Google on Monday (10/23). I'm interested to see how they will determine my trade-in value; being that my XL was a replacement refurbished unit from Google (my original XL just died on me one day). I'll keep everyone posted here.

Mine hasn't shipped yet but I'm in the same boat. My original XL died less than a month ago and I received a refurb too. That wasn't one of the trade in questions asked, so I hope that won't be a problem for either of us.
I have not received my Pixel 2 XL yet but I already sent my original Pixel XL back. It was not my primary phone. I added extra bubble wrap before packing it in the envelope. I also did a video with the time/date on my monitor to prove when I did it. I showed every angle and that the screen is perfect. I also shut it down and booted it up on camera so they can't give me any s*it it is gets cracked in that flimsy envelope they sent.
Cover your a** folks. That envelope will not protect the phone if it takes a hard drop from 4'. They may want that envelope used but mine was huge due to all the extra bubble wrap I covered the phone in.
Trade-In Approved
I ended up trading in a Nexus 6p 64GB which they received on 10/13 per the tracking. No status changes on their site until my Pixel 2 XL shipped today (10/23). I got the email that my Pixel 2 XL had shipped and 5 minutes later received another email stating my trade in was received and how much I would receive back. The amount they approved was the same they quoted, so I can live with that.
The 2nd email I received had the subject "We received your phone for Trade In".
Body started off with: "Great news! We have examined the device you submitted for Trade In, and its value either matches or is more than the estimate."
Note: The only reason I traded in the 6p instead of selling it was that it developed the boot loop due to the 2nd core. It was not purchased from Google (Sprint store) and was out of warranty. I couldn't get Google or LG to replace it and I wouldn't sell it to an individual in that state. I had flashed the alternate kernel that made it run off 4 cores, so it was usable.

Thanks for the update so i guess we wont get any updates untill they ship the 2xl even if they have or trade in for a month which is stupid what if we decide to cancel the order what then for us that have to wait for another month or more
Just received confirmation that my phone has been received and inspected. A credit of $410 will appear on my account soon. They've had my phone for two weeks. My new phone is on the truck for delivery. Finally!!
I've also received an email stating I got the full 410.00 credit. I received my Pixel 2 XL this past Thursday on Oct 19th. Despite all the gripes going around, I'm truly loving this phone and haven't had any of the issues people are complaining about except for the slight blue tint at angles. But, it's hardly an issue that would cause problems with using the phone daily. The muted colors will be fixed either with a software update from Google, or with a custom kernel like Elemental or others.
So....I'm wondering how does this credit work for people who did Google Financing? Are they lowering the finance amount resulting in a lower monthly payment over the full 24 month term or applying the credit as full one time payment resulting in less payments?

EE UK

Ordered mine just now from EE, bye bye Huawei.
Went with the 128GB as I barely use 50GB on my Huawei.
Unlimited 5G with the Galaxy Active 2 watch also on LTE.
£79+£14 pm.
No upfront cost, all in black.
Watch comes tomorrow, phone on the 13th apparently..
I didn't even want 12GB as it'll just use more battery for no reason, 8GB is the sweet spot, but I'm excited about getting the device. Hopefully the exynos can bring a smile to my face, it's been a while since I had a Sammy.

Tbh 12GB over 8GB will use more exactly the same as 16GB will use more than 12. It's the nature of hardware.
Tbh 5000MAh sounds like if should be enough I think.

Who did you order from?
I've been in touch with their Twitter rep who (claims he) checked stock intake plans and identified there is an established queue. I am on it and will get mine 24th-26th as per my order page. People ordering today will get it on 31st March.
Essentially, your estimated delivery date is accurate. If it says 10th March, you got in early enough to be in the first batch, if not, you are in a later batch.

Tbh missing the first batch may have been a blessing in disguise, often the first ones released have the most bugs, whether it be hardware or software.
Silver linings
Yeah, plus it gives them time to patch these camera issues we're reading about. At last we can make a decision about returning based on the "fixed" firmware rather than risking running out the return period waiting for an update.

Yea absolutely, tbh I've took a chance on so many devices, most of them HTC but some oddballs like the Sony Z1, great phone, awful modding community, same with the note 4, Evo 3D, great camera; unable to patch over to Cyanogenmod, bought that bugger and it was listed as SIM free for £556 which was then the highest priced smartphone of the time, 3 months later it was listed as £155 (this was the beginning of the end for HTC, they never recovered, such a shame, HTC did so much right for Android as a platform)
Even the S3 I bought was a risk, but it paid off, stellar device.
I think if Samsung are going to focus on the Exynos device ( which If what I've heard is true. They won't!
Reason I say this is because this is apparently the last exynos, not even the South Koreans are using it, for the first time)
I hope that Samsung allow updates to the exynos device drivers similar to the SD via the play store.
For me so long as the exynos can run the windwaker on dolphin then I'll be happy as it'll be on pay with the 855 from the SD range.
As for the battery, I have a unique set of apps and a great habit and track record of making a device last a long time and show the best SOT times I've ever seen.
Oneplus 5 - 14 hours 47 minutes over 2 days on 1 charge
P20 pro - 17 hours 30 minutes over 2.5 days on 1 charge
So I think if I set the device up right, I believe I'm going to break 20 hours, also before you think I am reading books or something, the app list is shown on the OnePlus forum.

I'm not with virgin lad.. no idea, EE advised it would be the 13th. If it's not then I'm cancelling. Going to try the oppo V2 pro
Just got off the phone to EE as I got the active 2 watch with cellular WITH the phone and seeing as I have the watch and not the phone I was worried that id end up with a watch I couldn't use with my current phone, p20 pro.
The chap from EE clarified that I will definitely get the phone on launch, march 13th as I ordered on the 3rd..
So I'm quietly happy now, just hope they don't mess me about.
My advice if you're unsure, tell them that if there's a level of uncertainty that it won't be there on the day that's you've been promised then you'll cancel it if it doesn't show up.
With EE, they told me that my order status will update on the day before to say it's been allocated.
so noone got the phone yet so far, just as i said they are lying. I was told tomorrow but yet no email from Virgin
