I assume that you're asking which rom is best?
No one rom trumps all other roms. It really comes down to personal preferences. Try them out (safety) and see for yourself.

I'm only using TW roms for the moment. I normally use AOSP roms, but this is the only rare occasion where my current phone software is up to date with aosp. Meaning that both are on 4.2.2. You really have to try each one for yourself to see what works best for you. If I decide to run an AOSP rom, it would be Task360's AOKP. He is a developing machine. Cranks out at least 2 updates a week to improve functionality. As far as TW roms go, Scott just brought clean rom over to the S4. I'm loving Mint jelly by Nottach right now. Development is high right now.

Same here. So far all the roms I've tried are TW based. I've tested MDOB which is very good... Currently I'm on Shostock which also smooth.
Haven't tried AOKP / AOSP as of yet..
nice this is the first one i tried and i really like it [ROM][4.2.2][June 2] Slim Bean jflteatt [build 6] - LOKI patched... the dark theme plus all the at&t stuff removed. wasn't asking what's the best just looking for opinions. i know "best" is just preference.
thanks for the feedback
FYI, I believe it is Task650 not 360.
Task650 AOKP Rom. While roms are subjective to the user, I use his rom because of I'm very familiar with it. Its extremely stable and you can pretty much customize everything in the rom. Not too mention, I love the pure google feel. TW on the S4 left a bad taste in my mouth with how much it freaking lagged.
First: Questions go in Q&A
Second: All ROMs are the best for those that use them. There is no substitute for reading the ROM threads in development

Yes, lots. Let's all get over Eybee and move on...

Rocket rom v3

I always dual boot with Paranoid Android. Perhaps I will switch rocket rom to stock touchwiz when samsung release it.
I also agree that lots of roms are better than rocket rom ... one of the big problems of rr was its bad battery life

IMO, theres a lot of roms good roms out there, Im not a fan of RR but eybee is really a big loss to our community

Agree... Try Alliance, The Rom look like AOSP but feature touchwiz
its perfect for me.. The OTA's mod does not make me bored with this ROM
what eyebee did with the leaks was stupendous, i mean there was a huge energy vortex created in the forum, whew !
that kind of energy is rarely even created by stock sammy releases...i like those too...rooting with Philz kernel and a few mods Dr Ketan style
mini tab v3 sounds promising....
i collected rr v 12 ics after many spoke highly of it, i was scared the links would go down .....
Trying Alliance Rom beta 1 (4.1.2 LS7 based)
Let´s see if I like it... Let´s see if it will be as good as RR...
When I heard the news yesterday about eybee leaving and that there would be no RRv3 I was gutted, I ended up flashing TMT 5.0 XXLS7 JB.... I must say, Its excellent and so is the Dev, I used his TW / MIUI version a while back and there was a lot of support and regular fixes / updates.
So, Thats definitely one to look out for, That being said, Now RRv3 is out... Im gonna have to flash it
Best way is to spend some time testing them all, Have a good read of the thread(s) and see whats what. There will be other fantastic ROMs out there.
And whats to say when the dust has settled in a few days / weeks, that eybee wont come back and continue development ??
Never say never guys.
I know why eyebee left. Its because all the tons of thanks and appreciation eyebee received from all the users. Eyebee wanted to retire at his prime like what most celebs and sportsmen do but i think eyebee is the type of person who will always create better things. I dont think its his prime. I wanted him to make his own launcher a distinct one flashable yo even the rooted stock rom. He could have changed the way android is used. But he left. The other possible reason could be the note 2 or the lg nexus . I think eyebee got his hands on the new device or maybe google drained the talent from our community making him their official member.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Thanks for all your helps !
I will try them !!
Alliance ROM ist pretty sweet for me !
Good Battery, very smooth, OTA Updates.
I Think i stay on Alliance until the next major release / real leak from Samsung
I choose aliance Rom. For now I'm thinking it might just be at least as good as RR.
About eybee... I woudn't , be suprised if suddenly some new forum member would join us and be awesome dev
Everytime i flash new release stock rom i will get bored in 2 days. I always revert back to paranoid cm10. I love the mixture between tablet style, multi dpi, and cobalt theme.

Coming from RR, I've tried all the major ROM's based on LS7 leak... And the one that I prefer is Ultimate N7000 XXLS7 JellyBean 4.1.2 v4.
Trying Alliance Rom beta 1 (4.1.2 LS7 based) - Result:
tested Alliance Rom for more than a week. Not so smooth. Slow Split screen multitasking (already expected that). Battery problems: partial wakelocks with audio_out2, mediaservice and map apps.
Will switch to rocketRom JB v3 and keep searching.

I got my Nexus 4 yesterday and I've been using an S3 for a month or so running CM 10.1
Should I flash CM 10.1 on my Nexus 4, or will there be a new version that will soon be released pertaining to 4.2.2?
How stable is CM on the Nexus 4? I had a few issues with it on the S3. Will it be as reliable as stock?

The CM ROM for the N4 is stable, I've been using it for a while and haven't had any problems.
I think the latest nightly has the 4.2.2 updates in it already.
Which ROM to use is kind of personal though and depends on what you want, take a look at the ROMs in the threads and you will see quite a few choices, and then there are even a lot of different kernels too so there are plenty of choices.
Rasbean Jelly or Xenon HD. Both are stable as can be.

I found the best ROM for me by installing the popular ones for a few days each then picking the one I liked the most.
I'm using PA 3+ (ParanoidAndroid), It's CM 10 based, this rom has Hybrid UI (Table UI, Stock UI, etc) and have a lot of colors improvements and the best feature is the PIE control that is really awesome.
You can check PA 3+ here and you can check the development forum for all the other roms available.
Good Luck! =)
I'll probably just go with CM since its what I'm used to. Don't have time right now to try a bunch of different things.
My phone currently isn't rooted. Can someone link a good guide on how to root and install CM?
No

And here is CM 10.1 with instructions.

I don't like CM10. I find stock smooth, and I think when RasbeanJelly is updated to 4.2.2 base, you should use that.
Hi all.
I just recently got my Sprint Galaxy S4 and yesterday I successfully rooted it using Chanfire's auto-root and then installed the custom bootloader using GooManager. Everything worked well and I'm all set there.
I'm currently "in the market" for a decent and stable ROM compatible with the S4. I'm not a developer, so I'm not really interested in experimental ROMs that could potentially be unstable.
I'm looking for something solid, user friendly, that will increase phone performance while still letting me do the stuff I love.
Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
Forcerom but honestly the most stable will be stock ROM

TouchWiz is the stock Samsung launcher.
When you flash a TouchWiz ROM you will typically retain most of the "gimmicky" features that the S4 came with (IR blaster, air sensors, etc.) You may also notice better battery life on TouchWiz ROMs until AOSP is better calibrated for the S4. (Some may disagree with this, I personally see better battery life on my S4 on a TouchWiz ROM.)
AOSP means Android Open Source Project, which just means it's barebones vanilla android with no manufacturer skin/overlay over the top.
These are typically run by people who want a pure stock android experience.

My suggestion....read the OP of each ROM and decide what is right for YOU. No one likes the same exact features as you.
Then make a backup and try each candidate for a day. Don't like it? Restore your backup and try another.
You will never regret giving Blu Kuban a try.
I have a stupid question. I have tried to search but apparently I am not using the right keywords. I barely post, and when I do it's only when I can not actually find the answer myself. So hopefully you can bare with me and keep the flaming to a minimum.
I have been looking for a custom rom. There are a few that I have wanted to check out, however I actually do like and use the samsung camera features like drama shot, etc.
Is there a cm or aosp based rom that someone could recommend that offers those camera features? Or basically am I stuck just debloating my stock rom if I want to keep them? Not that I find too much actually wrong with the stock rom, I was just looking to play around and try out some of the different projects out there.
Thanks for the help guys in advance. I hope I was clear enough in what I am looking for.
Tim

Are you saying there is a touchwiz based (debloated) rom that has the AOSP overlay and features. I've been using slim rom (love it) but was thinking. Couldnt you theoretically have a TW based ROM and have the AOSP ontop of it. I love the look of AOSP way more than touch wiz.

Your best bet is to go with a debloated Touchwiz-based ROM based on the much more up to date International firmware. Goldeneye 4.0 is the way to go for me.
You can even install MODs like the xposed framework/nolimit that all you to really customize the look of your phone.
I find it odd that there is not a single GPE Rom with added features or toolkits (like Sense 5 Toolkit for ARHD 22.0 Sense ROM).
Als, none of the GPE ROMs have OTA capabilities. If someone is able to walk me through, I would love to use one of the system dumps or Bigxies stock roms to create an OTA capable GPE ROm. If this is against forum rules, let me know Mods.
Did you look very hard?

That would make sense, except that both those roms are having their fair share of camera based issues. I love CM, but cannot stand the mediocre camera performance. I love PA even more, but the camera issues remain.

True, but those AOSP based ones aren't as optimized as the GPe. I would rather take a stable and fast experience over a laggy and customizable experience any day. I love the AOSP ROMs, but the GPe is for those who don't want to be on the bleeding edge.
On a side note, the AOSP support for this device isn't that good either. Compared to my old GS2, there was tons of development going on as far as AOSP goes. That might be due to the fact that TouchWiz was terrible (still is). I am 100% satisfied with my One converted to GPe. Plus, when 4.4 comes out we will get a stable OTA in around 2 weeks (based on previous updates) whereas CM will still be in its unofficial stages by then.
Install the Xposed framework and then gravity box. It brings a lot of customization to GPE.
