Hey all, I was browsing on Facebook this morning on the bus and came across an advert for a new Home Launcher for Android. It's called Everything.me Home (Beta) in the Market.
It is actually pretty dam nice, very smooth, and very clever how they have done it. Everything is organised, you have a search bar on the top called, Whats on your mind? and it will find pretty much everything you want (app wise) I typed in Xbox, and it popped up with Xbox apps linked straight to the Market.
It's worth a try, and for a Beta it is definitely a good Launcher, I have had 1 crash so far when coming off the Market and that's it.
Link?

Launcher I have been using recently and it's so smooth and simple, SickSky launcher is brilliant!
Can't find it on play store....

hi all,
there is a bit of confusion here.
what we are talking about?
Everything.me Home (Beta)????? or SickSky ?????
first one is not in the playstore, second one is just a good start but too poor, there is nothing we can do more than the first screen with no options and no icons linked to the most used app like phone, contacts, ecc....
pls be clear when you post something
cheers
I had facebook home it's a dumb launcher

Hi, since I updated to ICS the status bar on the bottom right is repeatedly showing me Ads for some stupid battery apps or whatever which open the browser. I disabled admob in the market but they still come up.
I will provide a screenshot tomorrow.
Does anybody else have that?

Download the free app "airpush detector " one of your apps is making those adds pop up. Airpush detector will tell you which app or apps are giving you pop up ads

It's a app that a doing that. Read what the guy above said.

thanks for the tip, strangely it started after updating to ICS, before that I had only one app doing that and it was always related to that app (game). but now the ads are like spam offering me things to buy.
I'll look into it. Will Airpush detector show me what did that WHEN it happens or can it read some sort of log?
Upgraded to ICS yesterday, so far ok.. nothing amazing. But glad to have it. Is it not possible to make folders by dropping one App on top of another like on the Nexus??
thanks, and sorry if this was asked.. I checked, didn't see.

Oddly enough, I just tried Apex... but every widget I try adding, I get a message at the bottom saying "there's no more room on this homepage".. even when theres nothing else there! Any suggestions?
Maybe the widgets are too big for the screen you are not running any dpi change on it right? Also you can't add widgets ala ics way unless you are rooted

Thanks.. did that. That helped get some widgets on the screen, but there's still so many, like the digital clock, or power saving widget, for example that just won't fit on the screen.. can't seem to figure out how to get them to fit!! any other suggestions?? thanks!
Happened to me too when I upgraded my Note to ICS yesterday. I didn't touch any of the TW screens but installed and used Apex immediately. When I tried to add e.g. shortcuts to my XDA favorites it came up with the same error. I then checked with TW and there were the shortcuts, on screen 7 (where was some space). I cleaned up TW, i.e. removed all the widgets, and now it works on both launchers. Very strange indeed...
Gesendet von meinem GT-I9100 mit Tapatalk 2
Yeah it wont for me either. Although the widget would resize once in the 5 column but it still hovers above as if it is default 4...so a launchrr issue if it defaulted to 5 for the note it would be fine.

Alright time for some good on this board?
I love the new UI.
I actually asked Mrs. Urhman about it a few weeks before it was announced and she said they were in the works with something.
It is a whole few tons better than the original but its not fully perfected. For what it is I am impressed. The only real gripe I have about it is the lack of ability to customize backgrounds. Even though its blurred for the most part it would still be awesome to be able to put something back there.
So what is your opinion of the new UI?
I really like the progress they're making but I still prefere custom ouya launcher.

I like it. I agree that wallpapers would be great but it is 100% better than it was.

Hi everyone!
A couple of months ago my mother bought a Nexus 5 because she really disliked that she wasn't able to change anything to her then current mobile phone other than the background: she had an iPhone. Now she's been getting used to the whole Android ecosystem and the look and feels, however, certain simple tasks are still difficult for her. What I then noticed was that none of the official Google apps (camera, gmail and settings f.e.) had the same management. The buttons aren't in the same places and therefore you have to learn what to do per app. There is just no consistency.
That's the reason why I made these mock-up/concepts. Simple and easy to understand. Easy to get from one place to the other. Also, apps which are really close to one-another, like the contacts app with the phone and messages app, are connected via the tab-pullout.

Feedback is welcome. Please keep in mind that this was just something I decided to do in my spare time and I thought would be fun to show you guys. Also, I am sorry certain texts are in Dutch, I made screenshots from my phone and didn't bother to change them .
EDIT 31-5-2014:
I've been thinking about how I could improve my last concept/mock-up and now I've come up with this idea.
It is a combination between the new looks of the Google Keep-app, Facebook-app and the camera app.
Now all navigation is in the bar on top, including the "sub-navigation". All the actions are in the lower bar, which looks just like the bar in the camera-app. I don't know what would be best: to make the actions disappear like the three-dot menu in the camera-app or like the actions in the facebook-app: disappear when scrolling.
Also, with apps like the music-app or youtube-app which have a thumbnail, they can take up some space on the action bar.
If there is not enough room for the actions, the action bar would be scrolable.
If a message or anything is selected, an action bar will pop-up below that message.
The action bar is in the bottom because it is easier to touch with your thumb on big phones (and maybe with some smaller phones as well).
I've put all the navigation stuff together and i've put all the actions together so it is more clear for newcomers and also so you immediately know where to go to instead of searching for what you want.
your camera ui is better than the stock one for sure. stock one is really annoying

Thanks! I always get annoyed that the features I always use are in such terrible spots: I hate the rings. This way it also follows the android app guidelines (sort off).

That's brilliant. Such a simple concept which explains why most avid android users are confused as to why the acreage users keep forgetting what to do, or don't use features at all.
This looks great! I wish we could implement this.

Magazine UX is probably the Flipboard engine, modified to launch a couple of Samsung Apps.
At least it will look and behave Flipboard-like, which can get annoying soon.

When it was announced M-UX was a replacement UI, was set as the default home page, came with three pages of M-UX content installed out-of-the-box, and had a ton of live widgets and the ability to add a tile (shortcut) to launch any installed app.
From the Verge in January...
The new tablets feature Samsung's new home screen layout called Magazine UX. The layout offers tiles of apps and information that users can customize and configure. Three preset pages are offered by default, though users can customize up to five pages with apps and news widgets. The whole system feels very similar to the LiveTile system in Windows 8.1 and is a bit more approachable for new users than the typical home screen. Ironically, the power users that Samsung is targeting with the Pro tablets will likely find the Magazine UX too constricting and limiting.Since then it's been renamed from "M-UX" to "Content Home," reduced to a single home page that's no longer the default (standard TW is), half the widgets shown at MWC are gone, and so are the tile app shortcuts. My guess is that it's been neutered as part of the cooperation agreement signed between Google and Samsung. Samsung Hub which was a content competitor to Google Play is also now gone on the Pro's.
To your point, what's left pretty much is a more flexible version of My Magazine that allows you to choose and re-arrange what news and social content is displayed on the page. Based on what it's ended up being I won't be upset if our update doesn't include it.
