I'm installing from the market because it does not install when gapps is flashed. I don't know of it is installing as a system app or not

Yes to all of the above! I have given up and installed a blur based ROM since I was having so many issues with CM10.1 ROM.

Gotcha. I'm on stock rom, so never had that issue. I'd love to do CM10.1, but never wanted to risk the hassle of the bugs.

The current build of CM 10.1 is running very smooth and 99% bug free. Make sure to install the latest gapps, have an unlocked boot loader, and, personally I'm using the TWRP recovery.

I'm not going to dispute your knowledge of customs roms. However, my issue with them is that while many will claim they are bug free or nearly bug free, I see post after post with numerous issues or functions simply not working. If I were more informed or more savvy I might feel more comfortable taking on a custom rom. Until then or until the unanimous vote is truly bug free, my lack of knowledge will leave me enjoying my rooted/stock rom. I'll leave custom roms, bugs or not, to the more intelligent.

Well said! I completely respect and understand that decision. One of the great things about android is the freedom of choice. Most of the developers create Roms suited to their taste, and they are nice enough to share them with the community at large. Seldom if ever do they actually sustain a living doing this sort of thing. I wish you all the best!

And just to clarify. My #1 reason for being an Android diehard is because of the unlimited number of choices it offers. I just know my boundaries when it comes to technology modifications. I don't want to be another "I've bricked my phone!" guy.

[PORT] Simply Galaxy v2.7.2

I bring you a ported rom that comes from the Samsung vibrant forum. The rom is fully stable except I couldn't get GPS to work, however if anyone out there decides to try and fix it then go for it. It comes with the Jk4 modem and it is blazing fast.
NOTE: I TAKE NO RESPONISBILITY OF WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR PHONE.
The rom is 2.2.1, so just place the rom on your sd card and flash like any ordinary rom. Also the rom is in Dutch when you first flash it. Just go to language and keyboard and click on the first option from there. Then scroll down to English and change it. Well here it is http://dl.dropbox.com/u/20441294/SimplyGalaxy2.7.2SweetHoney.zip
Enjoy!!!!
If you are coming from gingerbread then I think it would be best to flash with Odin back to stock 2.2 and then root and flash this rom. Thank you

He was talking about changing the languge when you flash it if I am not mistaken. As for them not wanting credit to be given you still need to link to the original work. If there is a kernel that is not posted you must post the links to the kernel and source as well.

[HUMOR][GALAXY TAB EDITION] you know you're rooted when...

I saw this thread in the Android forums.. so just post and complete this sentence "You know you're rooted when.."
Examples:
masaidjet: You know you're rooted when you tell a neighborhood hoe to " wipe her cache "
wscott9903: You know you're rooted when 1/2 of your apps require superuser permission.
feralicious: You know you're rooted when your spouse tells you they're leaving you and taking the kids and you think "perfect timing, (insert dev name here) just released a new ICS ROM".
jayochs: you know you're rooted when your phones buggy as hell lol
putney1477: You know you're rooted when, you husband, wife, significant other gets a new phone and says, don't you dare come near this phone, it works fine!
jackpot08: You know your rooted when when spend more time flashing roms than using your phone
Greetz..
i shall begin:
you know you're rooted when you have to delete backups because you have no space left on your sd
You know your rooted when: You see someone on there phone and all you can think about is what rom there running.
You know you're rooted when you have more development apps than children have games.
You know you're rooted when you see someone with a smartphone [of any type] and all you think is "f*cking noob"
You know you're rooted when you get asked multiple times a day what the hell you're doing with your phone
And finally: You know you're rooted when your girlfriend now wants an Android device because "my iPhone 4S can't do all the cool stuff your Android can"

Known issues:
1) You will get a Status 7 error when flashing. It should reboot and be fine. It is caused due to an updater-script for CM that we are using that has features AOKP does not utilize. It will be fixed in later builds.

Exynosabuse and 4.1.2

Updated to 4.1.2 today and tried to root with exynos abuse but it fails to root. However, the exynosabuse app states that it is still exploitable. This to me does not make any sense. Especially when a little bit of research led me to an article stating the exploit had been patched.
So what is it, has the exploit been fixed or not? If it has been fixed, then why would exynosabuse say that it is exploitable?

And why would you say that?
DLL7 which has the exynos bug has been patched. Therefor exynos abuse app wont work with DLL7. Any earlier versions like DLL5 and below is still exploitable by the bug hence the app can root it. So if u have not yet upgraded to DLL7 i recommend u to do so.

I recommend everyone to update to dll7 as soon as possible.
Exynos abuse exploits with a certain library.
There are more such possible exploits on dll5 and earlier.
It's recommended so as to stay away from malicious content.

You are a liar, if you performed even the most basic search for your question you would have easily found the answer. In fact you would have found the answer in the installation instructions for CyanogenMod as it states to make a backup. You could have then restored your backup.
