Why won't the LED work when the screen is on? Is there an option I'm missing?

Because there is no need for, you see the notification in the status bar anyway and maybe in a widget. Notification lights only work with screen off afaik.

There is a need for led on with screen on.
1 If your using expanded desktop
2 If you use daydream you'll be able to see if you got a message
Some custom ROMs have that feature for led on with screen on

Google should not. Its pointless for the everyday user to have a LED going while screen is on. Everyday user means, everyday user.... not someone who hacks their phone.

Theres other ROMs out there with Halo that isn't Paranoid Android. Carbon Rom being one of them doesn't have all the DPI change and all that.
Maybe people should stop daydreaming about LED while screen is on lol sorry, was a minor joke.
Try out Carbon though, it has Halo [you have to flash the right build] and appears the same as CM/AOKP/etc.

My question is:
Is there a way to have two things running on the screen at the same time like the s note2. granted i know the screen is not the same size but i do think it is big enough to have the function. and if so how ca it be done????
Sorry that is multiview and that is a Samsung feature. I believe we will never see that on the N4. Dev's are trying to get it to work on S3 and still have not got it.

There a some multiview apps available in Google Play i think. Don`t know if they run on non-samsung devices. Don`t use them myself so i can`t name one.

I noticed that the lg optimus g has it in the notification bar where you switch by selecting it and fading it out to see the other screen. I've been looking to see if there is something out there that could be flashed.

that's the proximity sensor, which you can't see with your naked eye but you can film it.
My Nexus 4 just arrived and while playing with it I noticed that the notification LED was nowhere near as bright (50%) as my Nexus 3 (Galaxy Nexus). It also flashes at a much slower rate than the GNex!
Is this normal?
Can anyone else confirm this please?

Is there anything I can do to make it brighter?
It's really hard to see the light in a bright room and the reduced frequency means that the notification could be missed easily.

Nothing you can do to make it brighter. You can install light flow form the play store to customize colors and frequency.

and,.. what rom would that be?
Just install light flow mate. As someone else said you can have a different color for each notification and you can set now fast it blinks.
You can even set the light to be solid so it doesn't even blink.
When you set colours they are a lot easier to see than the white ish one that's stock.

Light manager works well too. I like it better than light flow because it doesn't drain as much battery
These apps from the playstore drain too much battery. You can get almost the same control over your LED if you flash a ROM like CM or ParanoidAndroid, you will find the preferences for LED under display in those ROMs

I am very happy to see the new N7 has an led, but not it sure it changes color. I downloaded light flow but only got a white led notification. Anybody else notice this? maybe light flow just isn't ready for new device.

You are correct sir, its only a white led. Wish they spent the extra $0.50 for a multi color led. At least we have one and we can tweak it at that!

Ya I am rooted and messed around with light flow for awhile. Unless I was doing something completely wrong the new nexus 7 only has a white led as others have stated.

I remember seeing a green light on a Google promo video showing this device before it was announced. Maybe the controller is not the same and lightflow needs to update.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Even the nexus 4 is only white on a stock ROM. Once cm is installed, it can be tweaked. And yeah, I think lightflow needs an update.

Sorry, but that is incorrect.
Was android coded whilst looking at it upside down? I'm currently trying to make a mod for the statusbar for CM10.2 where I'm moving the signal, and wifi icons to the left side. However.. I noticed that the battery icon says this
"<TextView android:textAppearance="@style/TextAppearance.StatusBar.Battery" android:gravity="left|center""
Correct me if im wrong, but wouldnt Gravity "Left | Center" mean its to the left, or in the center?
Im very confused.
I assume it means that either means be on the left but move to the center if there is an other icon in its way or it will be on the left but on CyanogenMod there is an option to move it to the middle so it will move it to the center.

It's not the millions of lines of code, Im talking about why does it say the clock is on the left side, or the center, when it is ONLY on the right side. Nowhere in CM is an option for centered clock. It's a bit odd.

Andy, I don't see an option in CM for a centered clock, nor does the clock get moved.
However I did finally just change it to only center, and it didn't move.
Most i got from it was a clean boot up, little bit of a flashing screen that cleared up within 5 seconds, and nothing has changed.

Looked absolutely everywhere, Some roms have it but CM trys to stay as stock as possible, while just enhancing the stock feeling. Like being able to add more tiles to the Quick Tiles. But thats about it.

The thing is that all that code is for translation because Hebrew uses different type of characters so it needs to be matched up with the English characters.

thats what i said. why do you think 4.3 had thousands of lines of code. they must have refactured the entire UI system for that one.
i once tried to reverse the navbar, heck, it wasn't easy - but this is just insane, they even flip fragments.
it makesfor a cool trick to play on clueless nexus users though
