What you're looking for is an "Odin to stock" package/image. You might be able to get these directly from Samsung through KIES? I'm just shooting in the dark here, because I have an AT&T phone, and I get spoon-fed every resource I could ever ask for on this forums. :3

[Q] how to change ROM

I have read through this entire forum, just to find out that it seems nearly impossible to change ROM on our SG3. So could someone please give a detailed step by step explanation how to change ROM on the SG3?

Depends on which ROM you want to flash!

Its not impossible. . Before flashing, make a backup of the efs partition. For that you need to be rooted. Rooting guide here.
Then backup efs partition. It contains your IMEI. Guide here.
Then the basics of flashing. Flashing guide here.
Apart from these, you also have to follow some other instructions that ROM developers provide for their ROMs.
Thanks, but most of the ROMs I have are .zip files, instead of .tar, so how can I convert those?

Are you talking about an "update.zip"? Thats just a Package to update the ROM you already have. To do this :
1) Paste the update.zip in your sdcard
2) Reboot into Recovery (Press and Hold Volume Up + Volume Down + Menu Key + Power Button )
3) Select "Apply sdcard:update.zip"
4) Reboot
For doing this, you need to have the whole ROM already installed in your phone. And that will come in a tar package (.tar file).
Flash it using Odin as One Package. And then apply update.zip.

Silly question but....did you try to UNZIP the roms after you downloaded them?
Peace...

Yes, I tried, so most likely the ROM is corrupt, but is it also possible to change ROM without using Odin, because Odin doesn't recognise the .ops file?

So far, I have still got the standard ROM, but I am trying to get Kyrrilos on my phone.

No. You have to use ODIN to flash. And the .ops(apollo_0531.ops) you have to select it says "SELECT OPS".

Oh Kyrillos' ROM!!
For that first you have to download v5.5. There are 2 parts. Download them both in one folder. Then extract only 1st part. Second part will get extracted automatically. You ll then have a .tar file. Then remove SIM and SD. ollow Kyrillos' instructions. Flash and done.
Or perhaps miuiwiz

People having trouble downgrading from cm7/miui

if u ever wanted to downgrade to a 2.2 rom but dont want to odin to stock JFD this is a workaround download the update script below, open the rom go to META-INF/com/google/android and delete the one thats in there and put the one u downloaded in there instead, u may have to extract the rom first and then re-package it depending on what program your using. good luck
EDIT:extract the updater out of the zip file
wht download below?
Does your script account for the fact that the miui/CM7 Tom's kernels only see mtd mount points and not the Samsung bml mount points?

The OP doesn't say to flash it...
Read the OP again.
Vibrant+MIUI
Just use Odin, don't shortcut it. The OP here has a very very basic idea of the reason and necessity to change these files, and has not provided a complete set of steps in two different "guides" he has posted here, and nobody has been successful as per the reports.
Bottom line, save both yourself and dev in the future a headache, and just use Odin.

[Q] Obsolote Clockwork Recovery links - Where do I find valid ones?

The links shown in this great video tutorial are no longer valid:
1. http://adrynalyne.us/files/odin/Odin3y1.3.exe
2. http://adrynalyne.us/files/odin/cwm_recovery_test4_adryn.tar
3. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2056318/update.zip
4. http://www.mediafire.com/?7k4d3830rrhvcg
Where can I find updated reliable ones?
Update: I manage to find in the meanwhile this very readable HowTo (with links) but so far, all readers in the comments area reported failure. So I don't know what to make of this.
Thanks.
Look for my recovery post in the development section. That will set you up with CWM v3.x.x. If you need the older 2.5.x version let me know.

Many thanks! Are you referring to this thread?
If that is indeed the correct thread, can you confirm that the following components versions are compatible together as a package?
Odin3-v1.85.zip
cwm_recovery_test4_adryn.tar
update.zip
(what is the 4th component that was supposed to be downloaded from http://www.mediafire.com/?7k4d3830rrhvcg ???)
Yes, that'll work
And I don't know what the other part was, but what you have seems to be all you need

In the video, around 01:34, a file name Continuum Pit.pit is shown. Could that be it? What is that file and where do I find it?
Ignore it. You don't need it.
Sent from my SCH-I400 using XDA App
I use the pit file everytime I use Odin now. It helps the files go on the right place. Instead of dumping it on Droid to decypher it out. You can down load it from my ec07clean tut in #2 post.
