Hi All,
I have a problem with network location not working. It works the first time I open Maps after a reboot, but if I switch apps and then go back to Maps it won't work. Other apps (such as the internet app) also don't detect location after this happens. All I've done is rooted and frozen some apps, none related to network location. Same issue if i uninstall Maps (which reverts it back to an older version, doesn't actually uninstall).

unfreeze all frozen apps and try again to see if it is a frozen app.

Just unfroze every app and tried again, still no luck :S works first time after reboot, then fails next time I enter maps (your location is temporarily unavailable)
is there some option I'm missing? I've checked network location in location settings and in the google account settings I've enabled using location.
Same thing for me, on a Galaxy S 3 LTE (GT-I9305).
It happens randomly about 1-3 days after I reboot. From then, network location is frozen on the last known location until I reboot again.
I used the app Network Info II to test.

I have a very strange problem with my Atrix.
When I upgraded to 5.3.0 Maps I was able to use the check in feature...Then it mysteriously disappeared from Google Maps. I was able to get it back by re-installing and updating google maps again...and then it disappeared again in about a week. Short of downloading and reinstalling Google maps every 7 days I want to find out if this is a problem on my phone, or someone else has noticed similar behavior.
--Edit--
One thing I just tried was going into Application Manager and clearing all the data (Then having to re-log in)...This brought check-in options back.
did it again
This morning my check-in ability is gone...Even clearing the data, rebooting the phone and reinstalling the applicaton updates did not fix it this time.
I can't use GPS on Google Maps. When I click on the gps lock on button, it says "Please enable Google apps location access" even though I turned on location services and checked both the check boxes. Anyone have a fix to it?

Reload the rom? Does the GPS work in other apps like Waze?
This happened to me with my Nexus 7 - Google Maps would only work with a data connection (WiFi) available. I tried everything - clearing data & cache, uninstaling and reinstalling updates, all to no effect. All other GPS-related apps worked fine. I ended up doing a factory reset and that fixed it.
FIXED
Fixed by turning on location services by going into Google Now settings and enabling location services...
Hi All,
I have an issue with Google Now. I press and hold the home button, get the Google Now page, and nothing else, no tiles, nothing. I have done several searches, and the voice search works, however I do not get any tiles displayed.
Why? It remains on loading and Show More cards
How long have you been using Google Now for? It took about a day or two for it to start displaying cards for me.
It may or may not be quicker, depending on your situation.
I have had the device for 2 weeks now, still nothing displayed.
Do you need to register somewhere?
As far as I know, you don't need to register.
Have a look in the Google Now settings (three dots at the bottom right, I think) and make sure pretty much everything is enabled. Google Now needs access to almost everything so it can work at it's fullest.
Sorry I can't really be much more help, I don't have the One at the moment. I'm awaiting a replacement >.<
Yep everything is ticked.
Have you enabled location services? Without location services Google Now will not work.
During setup phone asks you to about location services, lot of people turn it off to save battery and data. But it is needed for Google now to function.
Also if you use chrome or are signed into google while doing searches on desktops or mobile, then Now actually shows its real usefulness.

I have enabled local services, however when I go on Google Now, I do not have the small "satellite" displaying, like when I go on google maps. Could it be that I am inside and have no GPS reception?
The searches are showing when I click the Google Search widget, only the searches I did this morning though and not all of them, however no tiling, and Google Now does not display anything

That is fine, GPS is not required for Now to work, it just enhances it.
Go to phone settings > location access> and here you must have access to my location enabled and choose GPS as well as Wifi & Mobile network as sources.

Yep in settings, Location Access, everything is ticked, the 4 options
Stock, non-rooted GN3. Verizon. Stock launcher. 4.4.2.
I've noticed in the last week or so, possibly more, that even though I have "Auto-update Apps on WiFi only" enabled, as I have since getting the phone last fall, it no longer Auto-updates at all.
I can open the Play Store, go to 'My Apps' and there is a list of Apps there waiting to be updated.
The only change I've made, which was made at least a month ago, and which I'm fairly sure predates this behavior, was to stop Google Search from autoupdating by unchecking the appropriate box. (It created some problems with my Bluetooth devices, taking over response away from S-Voice which I preferred, and some other issues).
My WiFi connection is solid.
I've turned off (through the usual methods) a small number of apps (Audible, Caller Name ID, Group Play, Isis Mobile Wallet, NFL Mobile, S Health, Slacker, Voice Mail).
Any idea what is causing this behavior, and how I can fix it?
(As a secondary item, it seems I can no longer access the option to enable or disable auto-update for an individual app - has this been moved or changed? I go to the App in the play store, and nothing happens when I hit the menu button at the bottom left, which is where I thought I remembered accessing that option before.)
Well, I found the answer at Android Central. Went to Google Play Store in Applications in settings, and cleared Cache and Data. Restarted the Play Store App, and everything returned to normal.
Not sure what happened to the Play Store App itself, but something had gone awry there, and the data/cache clear reset it.
Mystery solved.
So I'm having this issue that just started today. The dice app I use is not picking the location I selected on the map, no matter what it always selects the entire us map. And with the ziprecruiter app, it will not stay logged in. Even after I login, it will log right back out. I haven't reinstalled the apps but I'm just wondering if anyone had this issue and how they fixed it short of restoring the phone

Did you try clearing the apps data and resetting the permissions? Also, try clearing google play services and the google apps data as well. they are responsible for location.
