Noon with a noon question - Kindle Fire General

So after trying the "search the forum" advice I'm sure I will mostly get as responses to this thread my question is where can I find a guide to dualbooting the kindle fire(first gen with updated fff &twrp as of today). I'm no stranger to flashing and adb but I really like to research what I am about to do to my devices before I do it and cant find enough info on it.
I am interested in dualboot right now as my kid is old enough to work the stock Rom since the app icons are huge but I hate the stock Rom and really miss the android ui.

As soon as I ask I find the thread I was looking for all along.
Also the thread name should have read "Noob with a Noob question" they keyboard on the stock fire sucks.

No. Its a question about development. If everyone posted things wanted to know or learn about development in "development" this place would be flooded. Others have told you you posted in the wrong place and you argue why its not. Others have told you its against the rules to offer paid apps for free and you argue why its not. What is your purpose?

Compare build.props from latest to previous you will see the changes. I'm not sure how deep Amazon goes into identifying your device but build.prop is the place to start
I don't know if it's true for the Kindle, but at least for Verizon and the Droid series of phones, properly updating the ID in the build.prop will trick the OTA server into thinking the device has been updated already, when it hasn't. It's another way to block OTAs.
I'm trying to use it to downgrade

not possible, stock recovery wont flash any altered zip. or in your case, a prerooted zip. or even a older official zip. modifying the system files requires root, and if u have root you don't need to downgrade/spoof anything.
so in the end, unnecessary.

I think that makes way more sense then making a whole new sub-forum for something that every tab has.. I was able to search and read about 8 different threads last night that helped me fix my fiancée's bricked kf..

I guess it'd mess with the xda-developers set up mojo but the kindle fire is sort-of unique in that devices can get potentially bricked with OTA updates.
Whats your problem exactly?

Ok buddy.. All I'm saying is if he took the time he used to make this thread to read stickies, root guides and the q&a section he would be more prepared to mess around with his device with less risk of breaking it.

Welcome to the n7 forum, and boy what a welcome...... Unless you are comfortable with sending commands via adb use one of the root kits, they offer more than just rooting.
Not to many roms or mods to choose from, but everybody has that there on taste.
Like offers have said search and read, then ask in those threads if unsure.

wow, what a messed up welcome. this IS the Q&A section. We all have been new, most of us has messed up, even following directions.
So, Did your N7 arrive yet?
CleanRom is one of my favorites when I feel like running a custom ROM. Im back to 4.2.1 at the moment.
I think WUG's toolkit is pretty easy for a beginner.
If you really want to play though, learn how to use adb. It may be a learning curve for some, but its really easy and fast.
Of course, search is always your friend, but most of us will still be here to help out if you need it!
Enjoy the Nexus, its a blast!
Patience people .he is a virgin !!!!
Welcome to xda Nexus 7 forum and (i guess ) Newbie Target practice Zone.
I think the biggest advice anyone can give you. Is something people do not often say. Before you flash unlock root or change one app on your device. Learn the STEPS TO GO BACK. Make all the necessary backups. Follow all instructions. But only after you understand what they are doing to your device. Read The forums about the different roms . Especially user responses and comments on the different roms.
Most of all Learn your device . Learn recoverys and basic fast-boot and adb..
Backup Backup and know how to use your backup...
NOT TO MENTION BACKUP
again welcome to the fourm and please Backup read re read.. then think before you flash.
Erica Renee ..:silly:
He's right. What's good for some may not be good for others. I'll suggest a few things. Keep in mind these are what I prefer:
Mskips Toolkit. I love it. User friendly and easy to navigate even if you're not familiar with rooting. Offers an all in one option (option 8) that unlocks the bootloader, roots, installs busy box, installs your choice of custom recovery, and will recommend the 3.34 boot loader instead of using the built in supplied by Google. 3.34 keeps root more reliably than others for some. Its compatible with all versions, it will buy you dinner, and kiss you goodnight.
Again, my preference but I've had nothing but success with Mskips work.

Which ROM should I choose?

I've recently bought my Nexus 7 32GB Wifi, and I'm kinda flashaholic... And since I'm new to this device, I don't really know which ROMs are the best... As I've seen, most of the ROM OPs do not post ROM-bugs, which I find pretty frustrating, so I'll give you guys a list over things I'm looking for (I think you know more great ROMs than me, since I've just had my Nexus for 4 days!).
I like the stock ROM very much because of its stability, but I miss some customizations!
Okay, here's the list over what I'm looking for:
-A very stable and bugless (almost) ROM!
-A well-featured ROM with many customizations...
-A fast and powerfull ROM which don't shorten my tablets lifetime! (I'm thinking of no under/overvoltage, etc...
-And ofc... Android 4.2.1+
-The ability to place any widget on the lockscreen!
-Good battery-life!
Don't hate me if I want too much...
Thanks!

I totally agree to the above opinion. To select your ROM, the following thread may help you.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36018963
If this is your 1st time to flash a custom ROM, i recommend CyanogenMod or AOKP. If you're looking for ROMs for tablet UI, please try ParanoidAndroid or SGT7.
Anyway ,try many ROMs to find out your favorite. enjoy
Seriously? If you scroll down just a little, you will see 1000 people who asked the same question. Read those. People starting new threads to ask this exact question twice every day insane, and has to be bad for server space. The devs take alot of time to write out exactly what their rom offers, bugs, pros and cons so you can be educated. To not read them and take the lazy route and srart a new thread is disrespectful to their efforts. Sorry, but after seeing this same thing so many times, it gets rediculous.

The issue is that thread such this are tiredly pointless. No one but you can answer your question. The only rom that you should choose is the one that you try for yourself and; ends up being what you like. No one is clairvoyant enough to predict what will give you the feature set you'll be happiest with or how a given rom will perform on your unique hardware.
The mods invariably lock these threads a soon as they catch wind of them for this very reason. I imagine the only reason it survived as long as it has is only because it hasn't popped up on their radar yet.
Rather than wasting your time and energy asking what you should choose, go to the Dev forum, read up on some of the offerings available, and then test drive the ones that pique your interest until you find the one that satisfies you.
No hate- just sound, practical advice.

He means this thread will likely be locked as there is no 'best ROM' and all the information you need is contained within the ROM threads. For those things in life that you don't get handed on a plate, use search instead.

You boys behave yourselves
There is no "best rom" as stated prior. That's because different users have different tastes, Also, certain roms run differently on different tablets. And there's no way to predict.
Take your time and read the rom threads. You'll see if there are well known issues or or not.
