As I swipe through my phone contact list, many times the minor pause between swipes will cause a number to be selected and dialed. Can I change something so that either the time limit is changed, or it takes multiple taps to dial, or a question comes up asking me if I am sure, or it doesn't dial immediately upon accidently selecting a contact, etc.? This is my first smartphone.....Maybe it is the way I am swiping; I have tried the left, middle and right side of the screen and swiping and removing my finger as fast as possible and it still makes an unexpected call occasionally.
Use the People app, instead of the contacts list within the Phone app.

Now that is the way it should work. Thanks.

I have been looking for some solutions to de-complicating the Droid 2 and have been stumped so far.
1) Is there a way to put large photos on a home screen that link to a direct dial? The current/stock contacts widget photos are too small and the direct dial link is also not the photo itself. I just want to put two medium-large photos on the screen and give them a tap to dial the contacts.
2) Is there any way to make the app icons bigger?
3) Can the voice dialer be made more simple? Rather than "dial [contact] mobile 1," is there a way to just say "dial [contact]?"
4) When making a call, the screen stays on and buttons get pressed. Any way to disable this?
- I do not want to root the phone at the moment.
Thank you in advance for any help provided.
I'm not sure about 1 or 2 but the default google search bar you can say call (contact) and it will dial the person you said and the backlight is supposed to turn off when the phone is against your face because of a small sensor somewhere on the front of the screen. If its not working you either accidently disabled it some or the phone is not working properly. Check your apps and see if anything you downloaded may be doing that. Hope that helps a little.

for #1 search the market for clickable picture frame. awesome app, can do direct call, direct text, etc.
Thank you!
The clickable picture frame is exactly what I needed.
I am still working on the other issues.
The screen proximity sensor seems to work correctly for me, but the phone user still has trouble with it. We're troubleshooting bit by bit.

This might be a stupid question but I trying to google it and I didnt find anything. So I was trying to call someone on my nexus 4 today and as i was typing in the number, i type in 7,4, and I accidentally press the # button and a screen appear and it say "SIM card contacts" and it quickly disappear and did nothing I think. Can someone know what did it do, I would greatly appreciate it. I attached a pic of what it look like sorry for the crappy quality, i tried to do a quick screenshot from my phone but it disappeared too fast so i have to used my pocket cam to record it and slow it down. Thanks.
It just loaded the contacts on your sim card. Go to contact, tap the three dots, select contacts to display.

Sometime if I exit the stock sms messaging app while its on a conversation screen with a contact, and then re-enter it (whether it be by turning screen off and on, or jumping to and from another app), the conversation jumps to the first text message I ever sent the contact...in some cases that is days ago. I then have to scroll all the way down to see the new message they sent, or to see the most recent reply.
Did I explain this good? Anyone else have this issue?
I see it as well.

Happens to me also, if you touch the right side of the chat box you can drag the tab quickly to the last message, it's no fix but it's faster than scrolling.
Yup.. annoys the heck out of me. Almost went with a different messenger, but some of the messages that go out using Voice don't show up in different messengers, but show up in stock.
I too have this issue every once in a while. I can't figure out exactly when it occurs.
Another issue with messaging that I experience is when I am in Conversation mode, and hit the Back button, I am pushed out of the application rather than back to the list of conversations. These functionality issues are annoying but nothing root and stock messaging can't fix.
Weird.. I have not come across this problem yet.
Yea it happens to me too. Not a huge deal but it is pretty annoying.

I actually sent an email about this back-button issue to LG's R+D team earlier tonight, I'm curious if they actually respond to inquiries...If they would just be more consistent about the top-left corner of the app being a back-button, it would allll be well.

For a work around, if you just close out the keyboard and then go to enter text again, you are moved to the bottom of the conversation instead of the top.. Annoying.. but faster than scrolling IMHO.
I did not found this issue with my G2 or maybe i didnt reproduce the exact way u do.
But mine always jump to the latest sms

Yea its not a big deal...but hella annoying.
I have a stock rooted G2 (4.2.2). I deleted some bloatware, only the obvious ones. Otherwise, it's mostly untouched. I've been experiencing 2 minor issues. The first one is I'm trying to send a text to one particular person, but sometimes she gets blank texts. She has an iphone. Any ideas?
Question 2 is, sometimes when I'm playing a game, it will suddenly quit and go to my home screen. Thoughts?
I don't think me deleting anything has anything to do with it. Any help would be great. This is an otherwise excellent phone.
1. If you put in a emoji it gets converted to mss. That might be the issue for the iPhone to download or show
2 it might be the game with bad support. Or you hitting the home key
To be sure hold in home key to view recent apps and enter your game. If it keeps going on from where it minimized its probably you hitting the home key ?

1. Might be possible that it's the emoji. I'll keep that in mind when texting her.
2. It happens across multiple apps and I have soft keys hidden so i'm not hitting the home key
Weird I have no fc issues

So on my note 4 long pressing the home button opened up the Google application. Now with the v20 though it opens up an overlay. However, about half the time or more that I long press the home button, the overlay doesn't open or it immediately closes or when I try searching for something it randomly deletes everything I've typed and closes my keyboard. Does anyone else have this issue or know how to fix it?
The overlay was a change introduced in Android 6 and later called Google now on tap. As far as the issues you speak of I can't say that I have any problems with the way the app works at all. Perhaps it could be attributed to use error. Could it be you don't fully know how now in tap is supposed to work and what makes it different than the older push to open Google now shortcut on Android before Android 6?
I suggest a quick "Google" for Google now on tap so that you understand what has changed and how it exactly is supposed to work.

@EROMITLAB No, I'm fully aware of how it works and how to use it. I was also aware of why the overlay was changed. I'm not attempting to use the now on tap portion, nine times out of ten I'm only ever trying to quickly get to Google and perform a basic search and the white square will appear around the end of the screen as if it's going to open or when I go to search it will just close. Yes, definitely user error. How could I ever be so foolish as to not know how to use Google. Clearly I'm the reason the app won't load or even occasionally pops up with a force close.

No need to mock me I was honestly just trying to help. There are occasional post from folks in here who aren't as tech savvy as the majority of people in these forums. Sorry you felt disrespected or insulted.
Anyway no I don't have these issues at all with the V20. Sorry about your luck.

Hmm, just tried it out and it works like it should for me. On a Tmo V20.

I have the same problem. It's definitely not just you! Although, mine never force closes and always opens the overlay search box, it ALWAYS closes out my search after typing a few characters, and then I have to start again. Frustrating.

Hey, I just tried something and it's an acceptable workaround for me. Hold down the home key until the overlay search box appears and wait a few seconds to let it calm down. Then tap the menu button at the bottom right corner of the screen and choose Settings. Now toggle off the first menu item to disable Now On Tap.
Once that's done, long-pressing the home key will launch the standard Google application, and you can start typing immediately without getting kicked out.

I get the same issue when trying to type into the Google Now on Tap. I'll begin typing then after a few seconds the keyboard will disappear along with what I typed in. I've seen one person say that it was Nova Launcher and once they switched it, the issue was gone. That did not work for me.

Dude, just do what I suggested in the post directly above yours. Turn off Now On Tap and you're all good.
