Do not Odin flash the AT&T stock firmware on a Tmobile phone even if it's unlocked.
If you do you will not be able to make or receive any phone calls.
You can flash AT&T or Tmobile CWM/TWRP flashable stock or custom zip file roms because
those do not contain the radio/modem images like the Odin flash firmware do.
If you odin flash back to stock Tmobile firmware you will loose root unless you re-root after flashing.
As far as bootloaders go, a Tmobile phone requires a Tmobile bootloader, but you don't need to worry
about that if you flash the stock official tmobile firmware with Odin.
All the other tmobile and at&t cwm/twrp flashable zip file roms found in these threads don't contain
any bootloaders that's why they can be flashed on any unlocked and rooted tmobile or at&t phones.[/quote]
so the hardware is different is that why you cant flash att stock firmware with odin on a T-Mobile s4

The hardware is NOT the same.
If the hardware was the same for both the AT&T S4 and Tmobile S4 phones then there would only
be one model for both carriers and both carriers would be using the same frequencies of operation.
It's not the software that determines the frequencies of operation, it's in the hardware.
Another thing is that the AT&T has a locked bootloader, the Tmobile bootloader is not locked.
(Whether the bootloader is locked or not it has nothing to do with rooting)
He is correct here...they are not similar. 2 different modems etc.

No you cant. You have stick with att firmware or else your phone will be a brick.
What would be a better phone to get to use on AT&T? An unlocked T-Mobile S4 or an AT&T branded S4?
AT&T ROMS on T-Mobile S4
I've been attempting to install the stock AT&T firmware on my T-Mobile M919. I understand after reading the thread that this is not possible which is why the Odin flash always fails. I am using an AIO (AT&T) sim card. I have been flashing ROMS built for the I337. Most boot loop after install. Those that install successfully cannot activate the WIFI function on the phone. Both Xperia and Darth Stalker work when installed for the AT&T variety of S4. Today I read the Goldeneye installation instructions which state if the AT&T baseband is not flashed on the phone, then WIFI will not work which is the problem I routinely experience. So my question is should I be flashing T-Mobile S4 roms even though I have an AT&T sim? or do I have another issue? The phone is rooted and sim unlocked. Thanks!
I own a i337M S4 is it possible to flash via odin the i337 att firmware? and have the modem and everything still working? So basically I want to take my Canadian S4 and make it usable in the US? I'm going to be moving in a few weeks.
Hi, I have the same question.
I am planning to install Telus rom v 4.2.2 on Fido S4 which is on Android 4.2.2 Baseband i337MVLUAMG1.
I have unlocked (SIM) the phone using unlock code and Rooted using CF auto root.
Have TWRP installed. Have made nandroid back up.
So here are the steps I am going to follow.
1) Download Official Telus Firmware (4.2.2 AMG) from sammobile.
2) Wipe to factory default using TWRP.
3) Flash Telus firmware 4.2.2 using Odin.
4) Root the phone.(CF-Auto Root)
Can someone please tell me if this is OK?
Are there any chances of bricking the device if you install telus rom on fido phone?
Just want to make it sure before I proceed.

Was wondering what the right steps is to get the phone working? Must I root the phone and flash custom Rom & kernel or just unlock sim card? I'm not new to Rooting or flashing Roms but haven't fidled with carrier locked phones before. And is it possible to use custom Roms from At&t in other countries thanks in advance [emoji2]

The Sgh-i337 is basically the same as the gt-i9505 EXCEPT for ATT locking the bootloader on that model.
You CAN Sim unlock it so you can insert your Sim into it. You will have to reach it a bit though. It helps if you know what firmware is installed on the phone. If it is MDB, MDL, or MF3 it would be easier to do I believe. Either way look for the threads about unlocking.
If you have NEWER firmware then there are separate threads for it, and it will more than likely need to be rooted, flash a older modem, then perform the Sim unlock from the menu. If you cannot find the correct post I can help look for it later.
Just reply back with WHAT firmware and Baseband you have installed on the phone and we should be able to help you further.
If you do have MDB or MDL firmware do NOF update it...

Not sure which would work best for your area. You can download and try any/all of them until you find one that works best. You can switch back and forth with no issues without worries
Hi,
I had bought a Canadian s4 on ebay with version 4.4.2, I had root it for unlock the Italian language, and worked fine for two years but without ever receiving the H + and H bands, he was always on LTE or 4G...
A month ago I decided to do an upgrade it and factory reset because te phone had become very slow, so after total wipe I downloaded the stock Lollipop I337MUMUGOH3 Trinidad & Tobago (because unlocked and more native language) and flash it with Odin, but after the softkeys have not worked ... I tried some other stock rom without succes, with I337MUMUFNE2_I337MUUBFNE2_TTT 4.4.2 the touch is coming back to work even if typing * # 2663 # the phone shows fw version is 0x10 and the part's fw version is 0x1a and can't get touch fw update (IC's F/W is higher than Bin's F/W), but I lost LTE bands, now working bands are always H and H+ and never LTE or 4G ....
I tried to install different modems taken from other stock rom, but without success ...and QPST show me all bands enabled...
Maybe i must change the baseband ??? Witch baseband? And how can i do it??
How can I get back the lte without losing softkey? And how can update the softkey fw?
I do not know what else to try :crying::crying::crying:
Thanks in advance..
I recommend not trying to flash the AT&T s4 sgh-i337 firmware to the Canadian s4 sgh-i337m. If you are able to flash the stock AT&T firmware onto the Canadian s4, you will have a locked bootloader.
Did you change your cell provider? Does the sim card get LTE in another phone?
You can flash the stock Canadian LP ROM from sammobile.com to see if the buttons work properly.
I recommend not upgrading the touch firmware at all as there is a chance it will disable all touch functions.
But my model phone is SGH-I337M!!

The sgh-i337m does not have a locked bootloader. The AT&T s4 has a locked bootloader so flashing at&t firmware to your Canadian s4 could result in a locked bootloader or a bricked phone.
There are no stock ROMs for the at&t s4 above 4.1.2 from sammobile.com like there is with the Canadian version.
It's up to you If you want to flash AT&T firmware to the Canadian s4.

I apologize for referencing the AT&T firmware. I misread your original post.
Have you tried flashing firmware for a Canada. It doesn't matter whether your flash firmware for Rogers, Telus, or Bell as long as it is at least version OH3.

But the Canadian firmware not work properly in Italy, I used it for 2 years without H bands, the TTT firmware is for the same phone but is open, maybe I must change the csc?
I suggested flashing the Canadian firmware to see if the firmware fixes the problem with soft keys. Once that is fixed, you can try other fixes to get lte.
You can flash the stock Canadian lollipop ROM and change the csc by dialing *#272*imei#.
Currently have a stock N910W8 (Unlocked, Telstra branding), thinking it would be a direct unlocked replacement for my N910T (T-Mobile USA SIM). However the N910W8 can't get 4GLTE no matter how many adjustments I make to the APN
The model number printed in the battery slot is the same, N910T. I thought this would be an easy switch.
I tried flashing the stock N910T firmware via ODIN but was unsuccesful. Kept getting a secure check fail about error using stock N910T DOK2 BL/CP and N910T EPK firmware. Do I not have the right versions?
Is there any other way to do this through ODIN without installing a recovery and rooting? Is it even possible?

Without root its impossible.
You need a modified custom rom from n910t that is compatible with n910w8.
in order to do that you need root and twrp recovery installed.
I beleive LTE bands are different in both models even if you flash n910t rom not sure you will get LTE.
And for wifi calling you will require N910T modem and with N910W8 its not compatible.

WiFi calling I can deal without, LTE I cant.
Just throwing it out there, why can't one flash N910T firmware on an N910TW8? The hardware between an N910W8 model is literally no different, the model number on the sticker of the N910W8 is N910T. It's not like I'm expecting N910T firmware to run on a Verizon or Sprint model.
There has to be some method to essentially brick a N910W8, removing all trace of N910W8 firmware, CP/CSC/BL data, then install N910T firmware and have it wake up in N910T hardware. Anyone?

Were you able to flash the Stock T-Mobile ROM to the W8 or did you have to root? I'm in the US and even after playing with all the settings the max Down/Up speeds I saw were 2Mbps/0.1Mbps on the Telstra N910W8, compared to my previous 50Mbps/50Mbps on the Tmo N910T.
No you will have to root....easy just flast team win with odin....then download su.zip and flash with your new recovery......why wouldnt you want to root?.......hell i still have my n910w8 motherboard rooted with custem rom if you interested in an extra. ..hope i dont get in trouble for saying that
I prefer to keep it unrooted for the OTA updates. Don't get that with root, updating would just be one more thing to keep up with.
Yes but me personally, like to update when i want to not when they decided i have postponed the update long enough and the next thing you know ur phones updated and u didnt get to have a say in it...but thats just me....not to mention first thing after root is removing all the blot and stupid apps ill never use...back ups are a life saver...iv bricked a device 6 or 7 times in a 12 hour period. ...
1. What about flashing the N910T PIT file along with the PDA, CSC, BL, and CP files for the N910T? What will stop this from succeeding?
2. What about a JTAG service?
3. Is there a differencertain between what ODIN does and using an unbrick image from a N910t from the SD card after a hard brick?
Open to anything at this point, except of course, using a 910TW8 firmware on 910T hardware which is all this is.

So I've spent a few hours searching XDA to find the right resources on how to flash a different U.S. carrier's GS7 Edge firmware on the T-Mobile branded device. I found out that since all the internal hardware for all U.S. devices are identical, I'd be able to flash any one carrier's firmware on to any carrier's device, provided there are no inconsistencies with the bootloader versions of the firmwares.
The phone is intended for an extended family member and I am able to purchase a T-Mobile GS7 Edge for significantly cheaper than from any other carrier. Because it will be used on AT&T's network, I wanted to make sure I got everything right before I get started. I either want to flash the AT&T version which will allow it to be fully compatible on the network, or the Unlocked version. Apparently, the unlocked version is completely debloated since it's not associated with any carrier and provides better benchmarks, especially battery life, so I'm interested in that.
I've compiled the resources I need in the following:

etc.
One question I have is whether I am able to flash the Unlocked firmware at all. I don't currently have the device in hand so I can't check the baseband version, but my understanding is that the Unlocked version is currently on a lower bootloader version whereas it is v4 for AT&T or T.Mobile. This would mean I would be able unable to flash the Unlocked firmware if the device already has a higher version of the bootloader, right? Conversely, I would be able to do so if the T-Mobile bootloader was on the same version as the Unlocked version (e.g., if the device hasn't had an update to its bootloader).. The same issue would arise if I wanted to go back to a carrier firmware. Where can I find a list of T-Mobile firmwares and their bootloader versions so that I can check? Threads I've searched are saying I can't go to 935U from 935A/T because of mismatching bootloaders but others are saying I can go back to 935A/T on Nougat (same bootloader versions?) so clarification would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: Just discovered the bootloader version can be determined by looking at the 9th character in the baseband version. Pretty simple!
Another question I have is whether flashing the AT&T firmware will give me VoLTE, Wifi Calling, tethering, etc. on AT&T's network. I've established that if I flashed the Unlocked firmware, I'll lose these functions (unless I root the phone, but that's a no-go since I need Samsung Pay intact). Just wanted to make sure that I would retain these features if I flashed the AT&T firmware on the T-Mobile device. Also, would I receive all OTAs pushed from AT&T while I'm on their firmware, even though it was a T-Mobile device? Or would I have to manually update it somehow?
Many thanks in advance.
Yes you can flash the unlocked firmware, I do recommend flashing the at&t CP (radio) though for better signal.
For tmobile all we lose is video calling, we retain everything else. I can't answer your other questions since I have not used this phone from tmobile on at&t. I have used the at&t model on tmobile with U and had no issues.

^^^^^this man is correct. Also, is the device you want to flash Carrier unlocked? Even though youre flashing a different carriers firmware or even the U firmware I believe the IMEI still needs to be unlocked from the original carrier. Obviously just pop the at&t sim card in the t mobile phone to see if its unlocked. hope this helps.

flashing the at&t firmware will just be like having an original at&t s7 edge so yes. The Unlocked firmware will be lighter with no video calling(no carrier apps, no carrier boot animation, some of the quick toggles will be different) you will retain VOLTE HD calling, wifi calling(if at&t has that) and with the at&t you will have all the bloat (about 2-3 GB of used storage plus more a tad bit more use on ram usage) which will use more battery. remember like stated above, if you do decide to flash the U firmware, make sure you flash the latest At&t CP being you will have better coverage since youll be on the at&t network.

I was able to flash back to T mobile from the U, I never tried anything with a At&t variant or the at&t firmware

Does Android Pay work on "U" firmware?
Should I get CP from here => https://forum.xda-developers.com/att-s7-edge/how-to/firmware-att-s7-edge-g935a-official-t3412312
I this a good thread for instructions to install U firmware on T => https://forum.xda-developers.com/att-s7-edge/how-to/samsung-sm-935u-firmware-install-guide-t3411451

I am also interested. If I flash
1) Will the device status remain "Unmodified" - I use Good for Enterprise for work email and it won't function on rooted or modified devices
2) Will Android Pay Work?
3) Will I get Software updates directly?

I Flashed an AT&T S7 Edge with T-Mobile firmware and:
1) Status remains unmodified
2) Android pay works (as well as Samsung pay)
3) I've already got 2 T-Mobile pushed firmware updates that installed without any issues.
Don't know if this helps, but I'd think it would be the same going from T-Mobile to AT&T.
I did also have to use a modified version of "ODIN" and flash a "PIT" file because T-Mobile has a different partition than AT&T.

Thanks! I am almost ready. Final checks
- I downloaded 935U firmware from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-s7-edge/how-to/4-28-t-mobile-935-firmware-t3597866 (File is G935UUEU4BQD2_G935UOYM4BQD2_TMB.zip)
- I am planning to use ODIN 3.12.7
- Since I am on ATT Network I will use ATT Radio (CP File). I downloaded ATT firmware from here => https://forum.xda-developers.com/att-s7-edge/how-to/odin-files-to-s4bqc2-g935a-t3582874
I will use this CP => CP_G935AUCS4BQC2_CL10280464_QB12904088_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar
Am I doing everything right?
Should I just flash all U files (including Radio) and flash ATT Radio later?
Please advise
Hi team
I have the tmo ime version of the s7 edge, but flash the ATT firmware BQC2 and now I can not go back to tmobile firmware or the U firmware I got the following error in Odin:
Error device info
Who can help me,?I going to gift my s7 edge to my brother and he is on Tmobile network
Galaxy S7 active
I have a at&t Galaxy S7 active unlocked and i transfer my service to T-Mobile but I am not able to get updates can I flash T-Mobile firmware so I can have the T-Mobile interface and updates. What do I need to do to get the updates.
All US variants can flash the firmware interchangeably. Just download the corresponding firmware and flash everything(Except for the modem if you'd want to keep the original modem). You dont need anything special. If the default odin dont work, then try the comey "cracked" version.

Why is it that we use the CP for AT&T; however, use the Unlocked CP for TMobile? Are the radios the same for the unlocked and T-Mobile variants? Where would I get this information if I needed it in the future?
I have a GS7 edge locked to T-Mobile with the Device Unlock app. Will flashing G9350U firmware unlock my device and bypass the Device Unlock app or will I still need to use this app to unlock?
Radios are different. I flashed ATT Radio after I flashed U firmware. Though honestly I cannot tell the difference

you did the sae thing that I am currently doing. going from tmobile (I believe) to AT&T firmware. I am going from verison (which shouldn't matter) but when I did it the first time odin 3.12.7 gave me a message of success after only one "sector" of the whole thing went green. but the phone rebooted to an error message. did I do something wrong? help??

Sorry not an expert, but I read several times here to use Price COmsy ODIN and I use that one. Please try
OTA Update is not working after changing to U firmware.
I had stock T Mobile last firwmare installed, but I was sick of poor battery and lag
so installed this firmware https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-s7-edge/how-to/6-8-t-mobile-935u-firmware-qe2-t3619151, full wipe.
Now I have worst battery performance. 12% draining overnight (6 hours) without touching the phone at all. It shows a new update but it fails when I OTA update. looks like the update it's being installed but fails at the end. Don't know what's wrong but totally hate battery.
Edit: Android pay is also not working..

What pit file did you flash? Did you flash the the pit file Odin pulls from your phone? Did you flash an att specific pit file?
Can I flash another firmware like tmobile or att on my s7 sprint ??? And how can I do that
Sorry for the noob question
Nobody knows about it???
if you have the actual "Sprint" sm-g930p, then your answer is yes as long as it's unlocked. well you can flash even if it's not unlocked, but if it isn't then you won't be able to connect to whoever your carrier is because the device will be sim/network locked to the original carrier. But honestly why flash any other carriers firmware when just simply flashing the "sm-g930u" firmware will pretty much give you all APN access and you can then connect to whoever your sim supports, with no carrier bloatware. Fully functional... Half the crap.. lol .. and a simple Odin flash should do the trick. use either prince's, or the newest build 3.12.7 i believe.. I've been using only that one and have rooted, flashed dif firmware and even tinkered with some bootloader ideas (unsuccessful) and was able to use the same odin for all.
